week 4
![]() 28 players remaining ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now a police station to the far east of the chapel. On the chapel wall near the altar, black and white portraits of Youko, Zelos, and Morrigan have been hung up. Anyone looking for them will find that Youko's pink shoes and the fragments of Zelos's crystal are now gone. >Mingle? This is Week 4's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday. When posting toplevels, specify the time and location. If you plan on having any private conversations between characters, remember to let us know in the post linked below. More plot elements will be introduced this week. Mod comments will be occasionally distributed to open toplevels, accordingly. setting rulebook profiles private conversations |

Hmmm...
[He doesn't linger long before he heads off in search of Miata, though you may be able to get a short chat out of him before he finds her.]
[If not, you can always find him afterwards, either in the lobby or making a cup of coffee in the kitchen if you want to
bullytest his immunity. Or has the fun in doing that worn off by now unless it's a member of the punching bag squad?](no subject)

MOTIVE
Once all 28 people have gathered in the lobby, the soft, monotone voice begins to speak. ]
Congratulations, you've made it through week three. The same can't be said for Miss Youko, Mister Zelos, and Miss Morrigan, but at least it wasn't you, yes?
I will give you a break from all those terrible mental status effects for now. Instead of a punishment, there will be an incentive this week. ♥
[ The monitor switches on. It shows brief flashes of events occurring in characters' homeworlds, specifically, ones that they regret. ]
Any participant who manages to retire this week will be able to fix their mistakes. Is there something you wish you'd done differently? Well, you'll have a chance to redo it. And before any of you go doubting us, remember that you're in an entirely different dimension. Such things are not out of the realm of possibility. All that needs to be done to accomplish this is for blood to be spilled once more. Tata, my doves.
[ The monitor will continuously be playing these "clips" throughout the week. They're short enough so that, uninformed, other characters may not be able to tell what's specifically going on, but are definitely recognizable to those pictured. ]

[Lithuania heads off early to check out the new building. A police station--when she sees it, she immediately fears for what weapons might be introduced. After glancing at the movie poster to see if she recognizes the style of uniform (though that's always questionable with movies), she ends up at the gun display rack.
And so, Lithuania can be found checking every single gun to see if it's loaded. She moves with amazing speed--it's obvious she's handled guns before, and she works through them quickly. So far, looks like nothing's loaded, thank goodness.]
Maybe we should take these guns apart.
Tuesday; late afternoon; swimming pool
[The swimsuit Lithuania is wearing is a high-backed one-piece, covering her well enough for her tastes that she can get some laps in. It's not something she indulges in often, but it's good exercise, and something to occupy her time with. She's not a bad swimmer, though not an expert by any means.
More adorably, Laima is splashing around in the pool as well. She's off to the side of Lithuania's lane, doggy paddling and throwing a live saver around the pool happily.]
Wednesday; during the sirens/possibly a bit after depending on Miata's status; FOR MIATA
[Lithuania seeks out Miata almost immediately after getting over her initial shock. Either Miata will be calm and there's nothing to actually worry about, or Miata will be worried, in which case they should all take some sort of shelter. And Lithuania can't help but worry about Miata.]
Miata--ah, Miata, what's going on? Why are there sirens?
no subject
Wh...?
[ She's out of breath, a coat pulled on halfway. Miata shakes her head. ]

[ Dhaos had naturally decided that it would be wise to explore the large place, once it appeared, and well, if it had been explored properly. Perhaps there would be hiden passage-ways leading to an exit outside of the magical barrier of the void?
... Nah. He wasn't that naive.
The first thing he is checking out does happen to be the office room, after he steps right in. He tries to pull on the filing cabinet with brute force, but to no avail, and he squints at it suspiciously. Instead he goes to take a look at the mugshots--perhaps a familiar face or something will speak to him.
Later, though, he's going to be checking out that jail cell, yep. ]
Tuesday, afternoon, chapel
[ Dhaos seems to make at least a decision to come here once a week, and here he is now. It seldom seems occupied, for sure, and it was just another place to be alone. If someone comes within, he will seem to pay them no mind, or perhaps seem unaware of their presence. ]
Wildcard.
[ Want to braid Dhaos' hair or come up with something else entirely? Feel free to hit up whenever or perhaps contact me on
tuesday
She also doesn't feel quite so bad on encroaching on his quiet time, either, if only because she is concerned.]
I thought I might find you here.

[Satori won't budge from the room with the monitor in it until it's time for bed - she'll be writing furiously in the book mentioned on her profile. Instead of a novel, though, it seems to be a letter to someone. She's so engrossed in writing that she won't notice anyone looking over her shoulder initially, and they might be able to read a part of it before she realizes they're there:
- every time I look at my pendant and remember what it represents, I know someone is mocking me for what I was unable to do, Orin, and I could have a chance to fix it - ]
[Tuesday mid-to-late afternoon, lobby]
[Even with the motive in mind, there's still something that's been bothering Satori. Today, she'll be going up to people, looking them right in the eye, and saying, with complete seriousness:]
Tell me what DILF means.
[satori no]
[Wednesday morning, general store]
[Satori has tasked herself with the sacred duty of finding fish, because she's finally decided she wants to properly befriend the cats here. She's found some canned tuna, but there's a problem.]
...How do you open these?
[THERE ARE NO CAN OPENERS IN GENSOKYO.
I mean there's probably one in Rinnosuke's shop somewhere but not in Old Hell at least.][wildcard]
[Satori can be found being Pensive And Moody throughout the whole week as a rule. Last week she shut herself up, but this week she at least seems to be making an effort not to do that. People can harass her about her attitude problem, being a shut-in, her clip on the monitor, or nothing in particular.]

[from around noon until six pm, in front of different buildings depending on the day (monday: general store, tuesday: hotel, wednesday: chapel, thursday: police station) sans is standing behind what looks, from afar, to be a cardboard box with a sign planted on it. if you come any closer, it still looks exactly like that. the sign says ""HOT DOGS" FOR SALE" in comic sans. in smaller print, it says "price negotiable". there is no sign of any hot dog or "hot dog" on the box, though the appropriate condiments are there.
from 3 to 4, the sign says OUT FOR A BREAK. sans is just napping behind the box. in the snow.
from 6 to 7, the sign says "THE PSYCHIATRIST IS IN" for some reason...? a closer look will reveal that "psy" has been scratched out and replaced with the word dog written in a scrawl on top. sans is nowhere to be found, but there is a small dog sitting where he should be.]

For Miata, Monday:
[He's never sought her out before but ever since last week, he's had a certain ghost on his mind. When he finally spots Miata he walks up to her, determined.]
Good afternoon.
I met someone last week, her name was Edita. Can you tell me anything about her?
Police Station, Tuesday:
[ Yoite can be found exploring the police station, in particular the second story. He's looking at the guns on the display rack with interest, almost willfully. It had been a while since he's seen one, and it reminds him of a certain someone.]

[A sign shows up taped by the corkboard in the lobby sometime after breakfast, in cutesy curlicue:]
[It's signed off with a clover, of course, and there's a little doodle of a witch hat at the corner of the word outfit. Clover, what are you doing.
Anyone trying to find out what she's doing, who thinks they've got a good guess as to what she's doing, wants to make sure Clover doesn't set herself on fire, or wants to see what happens if Clover sets herself on fire has to wait a minute or two for her; she's got a few pit stops to make. Here she is, though, with Morrigan's murder clubbing outfit slung over her shoulder and a small cardboard box from the general store under her arm.
She drops the box on the floor at the edge of the pool (there's a little puff of glitter when she does, she filled it with glitter, of course she did) and holds the outfit out in front of her for everyone to see.]
She told me to do what I want with it, and what I want to do is set it on fire. [EULOGY(???): NAILED IT
And so into the box it goes. Clover takes a book of matches stolen from the general store because apparently her babysitters have been slacking since here she is with firestarters, strikes one, and puts it in the box. Then one more, just in case. And okay maybe the third match is kind of overkill but this is not a girl whose past includes people using reasonable amounts of fire, but that's enough for her so she nudges the box into the water with her foot. It floats along a bit and just kinda sits around in the middle of the pool, burning and getting glitter everywhere.
Rest in peace, Morrigan. She was a crazy bitch but she used her powers of crazy bitchiness for...g...ood...??????
Clover just kinda squints at her makeshift viking funeral crumbling. Somehow she sort of expected this to be more satisfying? Ugh she's having a feeling and she hates it. There's a tiny mumble, if no one decides to say anything else first:] ...So did anyone actually bring snacks?
Tuesday afternoon, police station
[Nothing about being in the police station particularly appeals to Clover except that it's new scenery, so despite having spent a little bit of time poking around yesterday, she's back to investigate again.
In the middle of tearing through the apparent break room, she whirls around to face whoever's around and in earshot.] Oh my god. You know how this place is, like, always dusty no matter what you do?
[She looks so mad?? She definitely wiped those donut crumbs off the counter yesterday while she was wandering and they're back and she's pissed about it.]
Thursday afternoon, kitchen
[You know what Thursday means? That day before everyone keeps dying. You know what that means? Stress. You know what that means??? STRESS BAKING. Also team girl sleepovers needs more cookies.
She's the world's messiest baker, hence the batter and the dishes and everything everywhere, but the cookies sure do smell good. As she works, she's singing quietly:] ...hundred motherfuckers can't tell me nothin'... [Clover.
There's another batch's worth of batter in the middle of being mixed when the oven timer goes off, and Clover sets it down so she can retrieve the cookies. Maybe she'll share if you ask nicely.]
Wildcard
[As always, Clover can be found wandering about, drinking too much coffee in the morning and the evening and always, and generally bring a nuisance. I am, as usual, available at

[Perhaps it's the giant, bright blue circles runic-looking symbols rotating in midair that catch your attention. Maybe it's the 10-foot spikes of rock that pop out of the ground for a few moments before retreating back into it, or the six icy shards that materialize from the air before being propelled into the ground a few feet away. Or perhaps it's the gleeful shouts of one Bill Cipher that does it. Whatever the case, if you've ever wondered what that symbology crap on Faize's profile is, now would be the time to find out.]
[It seems Faize's sword practice was a little interrupted today, as the two can be found just outside the chapel where he usually is at this time but his sword is sheathed at his hip. When not mid-demonstration, the two are just talking so it won't be hard to talk to either of them or even both at the same time. Though Faize looks oddly exhausted, despite the fact that he's done little more than stand in one spot and throw his arm out in front of him and yell an incantation. A fact which Bill seems not to notice, he's chipper and upbeat as ever. Perhaps even moreso because did you see that shit? Wowie!]
thursday, 6pm, laundry room
[Hey so...great thing about your wardrobe consisting almost entirely of sweater vests, sweaters, and dress pants is that you can wear them a couple of times before you need to wash them. The not so great thing is that, though these are fairly spacious closets/dressers, eventually you're going to start running out of clothes. And Faize has finally hit that point.]
[So come Thursday evening, he can be found in the laundry room, two of the washing machines loaded with an assortment of clothes (did he even separate them?? no) and intently staring at the back of a container of liquid fabric softener like he's expecting to find some kind of mystical spell written back there or something. How the everloving fuck do your primitive Earth laundry techniques work? He doesn't know.]
any day, 9am, school
[For some reason, Faize keeps making daily trips to the school. He never stays for more than an hour or so, just wandering both the interior and exterior of the building in an oddly purposeful sort of way. Almost like he's looking for something.]
[On Monday you might find him lingering for a little while in the classroom, staring silently at the floor where there should be bloodstains, but aren't.]
tuesday-thursday, 1-4pm, near the chapel
[Obligatory sword training prompt. Same time, same place as every week, just jabbing and slicing at thin air, occasionally throwing in a pivoted kick here and there. Does he ever get tired of doing this? Apparently the answer is no.]

[ There aren't any police stations in Hyland. Jails, yes, cells that bred malevolent prisoners, but most of this is new, and Alisha can't help but investigate. You can find her examining those handcuffs rather suspiciously, or poring over that album of mugshots, as though she's trying to find any familiar faces.
Or maybe she's just curious, it's hard to say. ]
Wednesday afternoon, clinic.
[ This clinic really has played a part in so many deaths, and Alisha isn't too comfortable lingering here-- but she's still sorting through the supplies and muttering thoughtfully as she does, which means she probably won't notice anyone else unless they speak up or cause a racket. ]
I wonder if I could find enough materials to prepare gels...
[ No, probably not. ]
Various, lobby or outside.
[ You're more likely to catch her outside, but if you see her in the lobby, she's staring at the monitor-- never for too long, and she always flinches back when the screen shows a beautiful woman, touching her face (probably because that same woman has a spear sticking through her). Either way, she'll sigh when she spots you and shift her gaze from the screen. ]
Really, these motives grow more deplorable by the week...
[ Outside, though, you'll catch her going through a rigorous session of spear... twirling. And slashing, and lunging, and none of it is really that silent, all the more so when-- ]
HYAAAAA-- oh!
[ She suddenly spins and there's a spear in your face, but at least she's hastily pulling it back. ]
My apologies, I hadn't heard you approach!
outside!!
She knows better than to move when someone's got a weapon that close, especially when they're practicing.]

[Now that the school house and the piano in it are old news compared to the police station, Poland pops in for a bit to play.
Her fingers pluck at the piano at half the speed the piece should be played at... and eventually Poland looks like she resents the instrument entirely despite her proficiency.]
[Wednesday - Kitchen]
Alright.
[Poland slams a tray of breakfast food down. Is everyone awake? Is everyone paying attention? Poland looks angry.]
Which one of you morons is trying to poison me in the dumbest way possible?
[Poland's eyes flicker around the room looking for the guilty party to give themselves away.]
As if I would eat strange food off the floor left in the hallway?!
[Where are you... you stereotyping piece of trash...]
[Pick your own adventure.]
[Wild card!]
Monday night
I was hoping to hear what it may sound like should you play, since you mentioned having played before, but... it does not seem like you are enjoying it, are you?

Cheshire had been wanting to at least learn to read so he didn't need to keep going to others for them to read. How long could reading really take? He should be able to learn it in a few weeks.
Or years. You can find Cheshire snooping around the class rooms, trying to find something that can help him learn to read. It may or may not result in him staring at a book, trying to decipher these strange symbols inside.Tuesday; General Store
After discovering the amazing thing that is candy, Cheshire can be found going to and from the general store quite often throughout the day. He also may be found looking desperately for some kind of poultry.
Wednesday; Siren
After the siren goes off, Cheshire can be found by the bonfire, hoping someone else might come by so they can share notes about the strange occurrences. After a while Cheshire will also be searching for Miata with some questions.
Thursday; Anywhere
This week's incentive has been of little interest to him, and so by Thursday he can be found chasing around dust bunnies or lazily batting about a dodgeball from the school house.
