seven vices week 4 28 players remaining ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now a police station to the far east of the chapel. On the chapel wall near the altar, black and white portraits of Youko, Zelos, and Morrigan have been hung up. Anyone looking for them will find that Youko's pink shoes and the fragments of Zelos's crystal are now gone. >Mingle? This is Week 4's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. [ Come Monday morning, the corkboard sign has been updated. ]

Well done! For your tenacity, problem-solving, or perhaps random luck, you've been given immunity for the week. Violent acts will unable to be taken against you by other participants, due to the blessings on your pendants. Please see Miss Miata to receive them.

MOTIVE

[ In place of the statue from last week is a very large, very old computer monitor.

Once all 28 people have gathered in the lobby, the soft, monotone voice begins to speak. ]

Congratulations, you've made it through week three. The same can't be said for Miss Youko, Mister Zelos, and Miss Morrigan, but at least it wasn't you, yes?

I will give you a break from all those terrible mental status effects for now. Instead of a punishment, there will be an incentive this week. ♥

[ The monitor switches on. It shows brief flashes of events occurring in characters' homeworlds, specifically, ones that they regret. ]

Any participant who manages to retire this week will be able to fix their mistakes. Is there something you wish you'd done differently? Well, you'll have a chance to redo it. And before any of you go doubting us, remember that you're in an entirely different dimension. Such things are not out of the realm of possibility. All that needs to be done to accomplish this is for blood to be spilled once more. Tata, my doves.

[ The monitor will continuously be playing these "clips" throughout the week. They're short enough so that, uninformed, other characters may not be able to tell what's specifically going on, but are definitely recognizable to those pictured. ]

A Wednesday Thing

[ At 3am on Wednesday morning, every television in the hotel will turn on. What comes out is not the soft voice, but an alarm.

It rings for 5 full minutes, before they all shut off once more.

Miata is nowhere to be found during this. ]

[herbgrace]

[Laima's ears prick up; she falls immediately to her owner's side. Lithuania, meanwhile, stiffens out of some long-trained reflex. It's coming from the televisions, but-- Lithuania bursts out into the hallway.]

Is something happening?

Do you recognize it?

[Hinata's covering one of his ears with a wince as he moves toward her. If anyone might know, Lithuania or Poland seem the type.]

[jackhole]

[ there's probably a quick flash of a bunch of robots killing a lot of people and a translucent neon blue figure laughing and that is enough for rhys to grimace.

so in the back, there's a short whine of: ]

Oh noooo.

[ this is a terrible motive. ]

This looks like the kind of monitor, that if you turned it on, it would play the Windows 95 theme.

[ Dry sarcasm in the face of seeing events of things that she regrets, but she doesn't seem to be too phased by it. ]

Monday only

[When all is said and done with the motive declaration, Buddy will tape a paper sign underneath the Key Players Corkboard.]

If any woman feels she needs protection this week, please come and sleep inside of Room 307.
I will use my newfound power to keep you all safe from harm.

Monday; morning; police station
[Lithuania heads off early to check out the new building. A police station--when she sees it, she immediately fears for what weapons might be introduced. After glancing at the movie poster to see if she recognizes the style of uniform (though that's always questionable with movies), she ends up at the gun display rack.

And so, Lithuania can be found checking every single gun to see if it's loaded. She moves with amazing speed--it's obvious she's handled guns before, and she works through them quickly. So far, looks like nothing's loaded, thank goodness.]

Maybe we should take these guns apart.

Tuesday; late afternoon; swimming pool
[The swimsuit Lithuania is wearing is a high-backed one-piece, covering her well enough for her tastes that she can get some laps in. It's not something she indulges in often, but it's good exercise, and something to occupy her time with. She's not a bad swimmer, though not an expert by any means.

More adorably, Laima is splashing around in the pool as well. She's off to the side of Lithuania's lane, doggy paddling and throwing a live saver around the pool happily.]

Wednesday; during the sirens/possibly a bit after depending on Miata's status; FOR MIATA
[Lithuania seeks out Miata almost immediately after getting over her initial shock. Either Miata will be calm and there's nothing to actually worry about, or Miata will be worried, in which case they should all take some sort of shelter. And Lithuania can't help but worry about Miata.]

Miata--ah, Miata, what's going on? Why are there sirens?

[ rhys takes a moment to read the sign and sneers a little afterwards. ]

I guess it's cool for anyone who wants to shack up with a killer.

[lastgirl]

I was a killer before I came here Rhys.

[She is not even the least bit offended.]

[okuri]

[Though he hasn't talked to Buddy too much, he does remember a week ago during the investigations that she mentioned something similar. Then wasn't a great time to talk about it, however.

He's still curious though, and he happens to catch her while she finishes hanging up the sign.]

Good morning.

Why only women?

[ oh come on ]

Yeah? Cool. Now you're worse because you let Morrigan take the fall for you. For what you did! And you're flaunting it.

[ he's still extremely upset about this, okay. ]

It's an air raid siren. [Lithuania is tense enough that it's obvious she's not discounting the idea of there actually being an air raid.]

[lastgirl]

Morning. [She says without thinking, then wonders why. It's never been a normal greeting for her.] I want to keep the women here safe from harm. Now that I'm retired, I have that ability to shield them.

[herbgrace]

Good morning, Buddy. [Lithuania is half checking up to see if she held out alright during the night. The trial must have been rough on her even discounting having to see someone she was close to die. She does read the sign Buddy is putting up, though.] It's nice of you to offer to help out.

[lastgirl]

[She grits her teeth, her brow furrowing instinctively.]

I never forced Morrigan into being my accomplice, and I told her she could rat me out at any time if she felt her life was in danger. She made her choice in the end and everyone else made theirs. If you want to be angry, look at the people who voted for her instead of me.

[okuri]

[ He nods, that much he understands.]

But why only women and not men?

[hopefragment]

[Seriously...?

Hinata's actually a little annoyed at seeing the sign, and will make an effort to try to find Buddy to talk to her about it.]

What's your issue, anyway? So far, two women have been the killers.

[He's including Buddy in that, not Morrigan.]

[lastgirl]

Morning Lithuania. [Man is that a mouthful of a name, but she would think its disrespectful to shorten it.] I want to do what I can. I may not be part of this game anymore, but all of you still are.

["All of you" mostly meaning the women, but in general the rest of the participants.]

[vicedirector]

[ The sirens have probably already stopped, but Liet can catch her as she books it out of the police station, scrambling over the ramp and making to start running into the void. Upon hearing her name, she stops, whirling around. ]

Wh...?

[ She's out of breath, a coat pulled on halfway. Miata shakes her head. ]

--I'm trying to figure that out.

[unpleasantries]

[An almost-laugh from Satori.]

Ah, yes. Because the last two women to associate with you ended up in such good positions.

[herbgrace]

[Lithuania doesn't look especially impressed with the motive this week, although she does look pained by what she sees--it's safe to say a shot involving a large group of people suffering was hers.]

As if someone could fix that. As if I could alone.

[All this does is remind her of something upsetting. She doesn't believe for an instant whatever she regrets could be fixed so simply.]

I don't think anyone would--Well. I wouldn't blame you for wanting to distance yourself from the situation. [For other opinions, see Rhys over there.] It may be that you save someone's life with this offer.

[Lithuania can do optimism! Sort of. She's still taking it as a given murders will be attempted.]

[... Well.

Ultimately, she can only really sigh, because after that last trial everything feels a little Sad.]

... I suppose this is one method to try to keep others safe.
