week 4
![]() 28 players remaining ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now a police station to the far east of the chapel. On the chapel wall near the altar, black and white portraits of Youko, Zelos, and Morrigan have been hung up. Anyone looking for them will find that Youko's pink shoes and the fragments of Zelos's crystal are now gone. >Mingle? This is Week 4's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday. When posting toplevels, specify the time and location. If you plan on having any private conversations between characters, remember to let us know in the post linked below. More plot elements will be introduced this week. Mod comments will be occasionally distributed to open toplevels, accordingly. setting rulebook profiles private conversations |

[What a good audience though. Faize didn't even realize he was there. His focus goes through the roof when it comes to swordplay, apparently. Does anything matter outside of his blade? Nope. Sure doesn't. So he looks momentarily shocked to hear applause as he sheathes his sword before turning to face Urashima. He looks oddly sheepish at the compliment. Probably because being complimented by a literal sword is kind of a huge deal for a swordsman.]
Thank you, Urashima. That means a lot, coming from one such as yourself. Have you been watching long?
no subject
Hm? ( He doesn't get what Faize means by "coming from yourself." As far as Urashima is concerned, even a basic fencing style would be cool and new to him. He's never seen it anything like it before and it's really fascinating to watch. And while he can remark on Japanese sword styles, he's hardly an authority here. ) Uh... maybe twenty minutes? I only saw the end.
Is that how everyone fights back home? I've never seen a style like that before.
no subject
Well I imagine I could say the same if I were to see your technique. I am only familiar with one style of Earth sword techniques, and Edge's blade differs from yours in appearance.
[It's more like a broadsword. He's actually never seen Japanese swords before Urashima.]
That said, while this is a fairly standard Eldarian style, it is not the only one we possess. But it is the one best suited for rapiers, so it is the style I have been trained in.

( He's so used to only seeing Japanese sword styles... and considering how he'd never really had to fight until very recently, his own style isn't anything special-- a mix between his two brothers' styles adapted for his sword type. But Faize does make him feel a little special and he looks a little prouder now. )
Of course, of course! There are a lot of sword styles but some are better for other swords than others. Like... my brothers trained me at first but they're bigger than me so I had to practice with the other short swords too. But it's really good to practice against other styles too because you never know what the enemy will use.
( He's a good student, even if he skips practice to play and expects people to go easy on him... )
Uhm... ( And he laughs a little, embarrassed to ask because he's really so excited by all of this but he'd hate to be a bother at the same time, ) Can we... maybe practice a little bit? I haven't practiced in a really long time. And now's the best time to practice, right? Because neither of us can get hurt so we don't have to worry!
no subject
[If Faize was surprised before, the look on his face now is more like stunned disbelief. Did...did Urashima, of all people, just ask to spar with him? And why does he seem so embarrassed about it? That's what he should be feeling right now as a lowly, mortal swordsman.]
[Is he taking the sword spirit thing way too seriously? Yes. Yes he is..]
no subject
( He doesn't even realize what the big deal is? He's just a humble turtle sword spirit. But he sees that look on Faize's face and wonders if maybe it isn't okay to practice and he holds up his hands, )
We don't have to if you don't want to!
no subject
[Faize is actually not as confident in his swordplay as he could be. When it comes to solo training, he's fine but...sparring is another matter entirely. Especially when it comes to people more experienced than himself, which is basically everybody.]
But if you really don't mind, I would be honored. It's as you say, this is the best possible week for us to do so.
no subject
( He's so incredibly confused and he tilts his head very curously to one side. As much as experience as... )
Oh! Do you mean... because I'm a sword? ( That's what Faize means, isn't it? He'll skip on over towards Faize right now, ) Uhm... I'm really not that good, you know?
( He's half honest, here. He regularly gets his turtle butt kicked in practice beacuse he's a spoiled sword that doesn't like to work too hard but at the same time, he's naturally skilled enough to go into battle... Look, he steps up to the challenge when he has to. )
How long have you been training with the sword, hm?
no subject
I believe it would be about...three years now. And the majority of that has been...well, as you say, merely training. It wasn't until very recently that I have been able to start putting that training to real use. [Like, as in real battles with monsters that could very likely kill him.] Mere months, really.
no subject
( More or less. )
I'm not a war sword... so I'd never been in a fight until a little while ago! And I've only been a person for... almost a year! ( Not even a whole one yet but close. ) So I'm still learning, too.
no subject
Almost a year? [Slight emphasis on the "almost" because wow, that's not a long time at all...] Truly, I am relieved to hear that there is another near my own level. The rest of you are all so much older than I, so I assumed the gaps between us must be immense. But I am...oddly glad that I was mistaken.
[Let's fight then. It's okay now because he won't be wasting your time.]
no subject
Ah... I understand! By the time master summoned me, everyone else had already been training for three months... and then I had to learn everything from the very beginning.
( How to hold a sword, how to get into the proper stance, it was a lot of work!! )
But now I can show you everything I learned!
( And he'll skip back a few steps and place a hand on his sword, in a drawing stance and ready to go. )
Let's do our best, okay?!
