seven vices week 4

28 players remaining

monday - thursday

Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice.

"Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour."

That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present.

After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now a police station to the far east of the chapel. On the chapel wall near the altar, black and white portraits of Youko, Zelos, and Morrigan have been hung up.

Anyone looking for them will find that Youko's pink shoes and the fragments of Zelos's crystal are now gone.

More plot elements will be introduced this week. Mod comments will be occasionally distributed to open toplevels, accordingly.

[ He scoffs. ]

In theory, if you expect everyone to watch each other, it would be a good idea. Reality, however, is different.

...What do you mean? How is it different?

[Not accusatory, just honestly trying to understand. Why u scoff at him.]

[ Well, the idea had merit, if someone wasn't going to try to kill another at one point. ]

Not everyone will be responsible enough to make this effective. Let us say... two people choose each other, and then later on simply do not even so much as watch each other. They remain in their own rooms and do their own activities.

No one would be the wiser until it is too late.
hopefragment: and then one "it's not unusual" (put in seven "what's new pussycats"*)

Then it's the same as if they hadn't had one at all. What would be the point of agreeing to be a pair with someone if you didn't plan to watch out for them?

[he's always careful talking about it as "watching out for" as if he means that the watcher is somehow protecting the other, instead of just "watching them," as if out of suspicion.]

In that kind of situation... you'd have to know that if something happened to your buddy, you'd be the first suspect.

Oftentimes people do not necessarily think upon the consequences of their actions until it is too late. If a few truly wish not to have a minder with them believe they will be 'forced' into doing so, then they may try to look like they are abiding by the status quo.

[ He just predicts someone will do something stupid, ok. Listen to him.

Either way, he will always interpret the buddy system as one watching the other out of suspicion. ]
hopefragment: definitely not thinking about boobs (thinking carefully*)

Yeah, maybe, but... I don't know. I still think it's... at least something we can try. Even if it protects one person, that'd be enough for me.

I understand. Therefore, how about this:

If this plan of yours is successful this week and someone is 'protected' as a result, I shall consider it a success. If not..., we will know the answer well enough.
