week 1
![]() ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. Curiously, anyone who has spoken with Miata for any period of time during the past week will notice that the voice coming from the television and her own do not match up. Come Tuesday, the footsteps around the void will begin drifting away from it. The pitter-patter of feet can be heard when standing outside the clinic and chapel as well. On top of the food that was added to the kitchen last week, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is now available. You're welcome, Papyrus. >Mingle? This is Week 1's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday. When posting toplevels, specify the time and location. If you plan on having any private conversations between characters, remember to let us know in the post linked below. setting rulebook profiles private conversations |
KEY PLAYERS
Well done! For your tenacity, problem-solving, or perhaps random luck, you've been given immunity for the week. Violent acts will unable to be taken against you by other participants, due to the blessings on your pendants. Please see Miss Miata to receive them.

Did you get to pick the players, Miata?

[ the selection for key players could certainly be more interesting, though. wouldn't it be way more intriguing if, say, Vegeta was protected and could wreak havoc? morrigan will never get the carnage she needs. ]

MOTIVE
Next to the clock is a small table bolted to the ground, holding an equally small analog television. Attempting to lift it will reveal that it is also secured to the table.
Once all 36 people have gathered in the lobby....nothing happens. For what seems like an irritatingly long period of time, absolutely nothing goes down. The only noise is the ticking of the clock, and Miata's shoes tapping its case as she swings her legs back and forth. At last the television will turn on much like the ones in everyone's rooms. The soft, monotone voice begins to speak. ]
Congratulations, you've made it through the week. But this is only the beginning. Sometimes, one needs a little push in order to take action, no?
Time is a tricky thing. You've only been living in our lovely town for a little over a week now, but some of you are getting awful cabin fever. And it will keep getting worse. You'll find time is moving very strangely, now. Perhaps maddeningly so? But, of course, all that needs to happen to stop it is for blood to be spilled. Tata, my doves.
[ That's evidently all the voice has to say, as the TV fades out into static and shuts off on its own. The effect is almost obvious despite the vagueness, however, as the clock will only have advanced about 5 minutes since the first person entered the room. ...just how long were you standing there, anyway?
As can be guessed, everyone's sense of time will be incredibly distorted. Minutes will become hours, hours will amplify tenfold. As the days drag on, the effect will become more and more severe. By the time Thursday comes, all you normal humans will feel as though you've been here for a good thirty to forty years, and the resident immortals will get several hundred.
The only bastions of logic in this situation will be the clocks. Both the grandfather clock, and the digital clocks in the everyone's rooms will show time progressing as normal. ]

I was honestly expecting something worse. [ At least she can handle this, even though she's glancing up at the clock. Huh. She could have sworn she was in here longer... but that's fine.
That isn't to say that it's not Bad, but it could be worse??? ]

Time? That wasn't going to be a problem. Even if he can't sleep outside of his room the bed is comfortable enough. What better way to pass the time than sleeping comfortably and lazing around.
But it also would give him time to listen in on conversations, figure out something to do. Try to track down the sounds of those feet. He never had trouble passing the time on his own before, and now there were people around.]

[ Time distortion is something Hanyuu is, unfortunately, used to. So while she looks a little stressed out and weary, she's not too upset. She spends most of her Tuesday in the pool room, absently floating around.
The June weather was nice, but not quite warm enough to go swimming in. And also, well, they were too busy trying not to die to go on swimming trips, she guesses. ]
Thursday, outside the hotel
[ Or at least until Thursday rolls around. She looks significantly more distressed, standing outside in her puffy winter coat and building a rather sad-looking snowman. There's not quite enough snow to make a normal-sized one, and she has no implements for the facial features, so she pokes in a smile and eyes with her fingers. ]

Various
It's obvious from how he acts that he's a young spirit and he hasn't quite mastered the whole patience and self-control part of becoming a warrior but he knows one thing. When waiting for a maddeningly long time in an unbearable place, it's easier when you have someone with you. So even if his searches feel like years, he'll seek out as many people as he can right now. )
( When he finally makes it to breakfast and sees someone already there, he picks up his pace and hurries over to your side, )
Good morning! Did you already eat?
( And if you're a giant of a person compared to him, he'll grab onto your arms playfully and begin to pull you over towards breakfast. )
Hey! ( He'll wave as soon as he sees you passing by. ) What're you doing?
( To pass the time? To get by? Wandering out and about all on your own (don't you know it might be dangerous!)?
He'll hurry over and look around to see if he can drag anyone else into spending time together. Seeing no one (near enough), he'll frown at you, )
... Were you alone?
( Basically, someone sure is clingy this week. )
( Choose your own adventure because real talk, Urashima is clingy as heck this week. )

[Bright and early, Faize can be found seated at the kitchen table with plate of nothing but french toast. Though his attention is focused less on his food and more on the notebook open to the side of the plate. Closer inspection will reveal two hole pages filled with sketches of various parts of bizarre-looking spaceships with equations and notes alongside them.]
[He won't notice anybody coming into the kitchen, but he will notice attempts to look over his shoulder, greeting anyone who does so with a calm:] Good morning. Did you sleep well?
Good morning.
afternoon, any day
[Every afternoon, without fail, Faize can be found near the chapel with rapier in hand, practicing his swordplay. Mostly, he practices his form and technique, his left arm moving quickly and smoothly through the air in a series of arcs and rapid-fire jabs, occasionally with a high, pivoted kick thrown in the mix.
If you want a video visual, here u go][He'll be at this for hours each day. What better way to spend your seemingly endless time than by training?]
wildcard
[come at me bros, we got all the time in the world so let's chit-chat. Faize will be out and about and easy to come across anywhere that isn't the pool.]
Tuesday - Morning
...
[Eventually though, it starts to feel like he's been writing in that book for a month... and Poland's impulse control has always been pretty poor. She pulls herself up on the kitchen counter with her mixing bowl and wisk, straining to look over his shoulder from a distance.
Ooh. Math. That's a good thing to distract from the outrageously slow passage of time in this ho--!!
Poland jerks her whisk out of the bowl, looking startled when she realizes she's being spoken to. By Faize. Oh. Watch out for renegade whip cream!]

[Poland's baking cupcakes! A lot of cupcakes actually. Like there's at least forty cupcakes here. She's decorating each one with frosting and colorful fruits, before organizing them on a checkerboard plate.
But wow god this is taking absolutely forever.]
Wednesday - Morning - Chapel
[Poland wanders into the chapel with Siarka at her heels after breakfast. She didn't really pay much attention the first time she was in here-- not that there was anywhere to move or really even breathe with over thirty people crammed in it.
There's no bibles or really any religious items at all. No priests to listen to her ramble in the confessional.]
It's really back to basics here.
[Poland plops down in a pew looking a little more at ease than she has all week. A church is a church no matter how small!]
Thursday - Afternoon - Clinic
[Poland's really taking advantage of this protected player status thing while it's available. Not that she doubts in her abilities to continue being tenacious or the best problem solver ever. Lithuania would want her to be careful, though.
It's dirty and derelict and kind of spooky-- or at least the pitter pattering of little feet outside the clinic did nothing to quell her nerves.
Poland picks Siarka off the floor to carry around with her, she doesn't want her getting hurt.]
This town sure likes it's dust and dirt, huh?
tuesday!
then he swipes one of the finished cupcakes and bites into it.

[It didn't take long for Yoite to find the "Do not Disturb" sign and hang it on his door. So little time in fact, that the room hasn't been cleaned since he arrived. All things considered the room isn't too messy, but everything is slightly out of place, a kind of organized chaos. He may just be emulating Yukimi's apartment a bit.
Though Yoite doesn't go out much, floormates can easily catch a glimpse into his room, or even inquire why he never wants it cleaned.]
Tuesday
[ Time was an odd concept to him, something he didn't have much left of anymore. But with the recent incentive, it almost feels like he does, even if he knows it's all a lie. The feeling is...wrong.
He's at much a loss with how to do and feel, and he easily falls back into an old comfort he had years ago, window gazing at the chapel. In a building similar to this one, he spent entire days gazing out of a stained glass window, lost in the lights. Though this chapel didn't have as beautiful of a view, Yoite can be found for most of the day Tuesday, sitting on the pew and looking out the window. He doesn't greet anyone who enters, but every so often he mutters a single word under his breath.]
Sora.
Thursday
[By Thursday, even old comforts aren't enough. It's not that he's going stir crazy or has cabin fever (even if it certainly looks like it), but that his existence was supposed to be a dwindling one. Short, temporary, fleeting. Yet now it felt like years, even decades had gone by, and he was still here.
He walks from end to end in Lebensbaum, repeating to himself:]
This is a mistake. I'm not supposed to be alive.

[Eventually Clover is going to be forced to function past her complete lack of impulse control and acknowledge and be upset by this time garbage, but now is not that time. She's riding the high of invulnerability and now is not even close to that time, instead now is the time to disregard absolutely everyone else in or near the pool and cannonball right in.
No one so tiny should be able to splash so much water all over the place.]
Wednesday, outside
[Hey, look who's dressed appropriately for the weather for once! Kind of. She should probably be wearing real boots but those heels of hers give her too much extra height for her to imagine giving them up.
The cabin fever's finally getting to her something fierce, though. If her having spent the past, god, who the hell even knows anymore, trudging around in the snow back and forth between different buildings looking pissy wasn't indication enough, her stopping to yell in frustration and kick a pile of snow will probably do the trick.]
Ugh! I've been out of things to do for weeks! [She shakes snow off her long skirt as aggressively as someone can do something like that. It's like she's been practicing.] No wi-fi and all the time in the world. This is hell. This is literally hell.
Thursday, kitchen
[Okay, so, trying to cook like this? Nnnoooooot her best idea. Rarely does Clover really have a good idea, but this was not her best idea. It's easy to forget about whatever you've got going in the oven when your pot of water on the stove is taking three days to start boiling.
So there's smoke billowing out of the kitchen door right now. Inside there's water spraying down from the ceiling even though there's not actually a visible sprinkler system even when the smoke isn't obscuring everything. And if you listen closely you can hear high-pitched squeaky shrieking and swearing.]
Throughout the week, various
[Hey, hey you. The person doing pretty much anything that isn't just, like, standing around or eating. People doing actual activities. People in transit between doing actual activities, even. Here comes Clover, heels going clickclickclick as she skitters over.]
Hey! Hey, what's going on over here? Up to something interesting? [Not having to worry about her safety means she's already trying to figure out a way to butt her way into everything going on ever, because goodness gracious is she getting bored.]
Wildcard
[Clover can be found everywhere all the time, desperately trying to find something to do and/or making a nuisance of herself in general because it's still really cool that acts of violence just, like, bounce off of her, that's amazing get over here and hit her. CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE hit me up on Plurk if you need anything!]
thursday
Dhaos heard the shrieking and thought something had occured. Well, he was right, just didn't think he'd be looking through the doorway to see smoke and sprinklers. He just shakes his head, releasing a quiet chuckle. Good job.
He checks to make sure that she remembered to turn off the stove, even though it seems to take longer than it does usually to cross the room to do so. ]
