seven vices week 1 ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. Curiously, anyone who has spoken with Miata for any period of time during the past week will notice that the voice coming from the television and her own do not match up. Come Tuesday, the footsteps around the void will begin drifting away from it. The pitter-patter of feet can be heard when standing outside the clinic and chapel as well. On top of the food that was added to the kitchen last week, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is now available. You're welcome, Papyrus. >Mingle? [ She's noted his presence there before, usually when she's finishing up her own practice, but today, Alisha pauses to watch. With the time going by so incredibly slowly, she's finding herself desperate for anything to fill it a little more.

Besides, it's nice to admire such a fluid form.

Which is why she'll politely clap when he pauses. ]

[Truthfully, there are moments here and there where he could stand to loosen up a bit. With no target to practice on, his stance has a way of becoming more rigid than it should be. Probably because Faize is naturally just a little too uptight for his own good.]

[A little too uptight, and a little too focused on his task. Because he doesn't even notice that he's being watched until the clapping starts. He looks almost sheepish as he turns to face Alisha.]

You flatter me. Surely you cannot have found simple technique polishing all that praiseworthy.

[princessantly]

I think putting forth [ years? ... no, that can't be right ] hours dedicated to improving your skills is certainly praiseworthy. You're also very focused.

[ Fight her. ]

Mmm... [He's still not so sure, but she would probably kick his butt if he tried to argue further. You win this round, princess.] well, focusing on anything other than the time is the best way I have found to combat this motive. And practice is the only way to improve. I cannot afford to allow my skills to rust, simply because I am trapped here. So, logically, the two seemed to go hand in hand.

You surely must feel similarly, no?

[As a spearswoman and all.]

I do, yes. A knight never wastes an opportunity to improve her skills, both for herself and for the protection of the people.

[ So yes, she's also been practicing like mad. ]

I may not be a knight, but it's the same for me. Though...admittedly more on the personal side of things, as battle is not the way I can best serve my brethren.

[They want his brains more, really. The sword stuff is just an added bonus.]

Though that's something I've been curious about, since you bring it up. How does a princess wind up as a knight? If you don't mind my asking, that is.

No, not at all-- [ Flapping a hand. ]

I may be a princess, but I'm very low in the line in terms of succession. [ Like, the lowest. ] So I hold very little power in helping my kingdom.

... So I thought as a knight, I could at least serve the people that way.

[symbologic]

I see. That's very...noble. [Kind of impressive, actually?] A lesser person would hold resentment over their position.

[He smiles.]

I think it's very admirable. Your people are very fortunate to have you.

[princessantly]

Oh... [ O-oh.

She's not very used to praise. Honest praise, anyway. ]

Thank you, Faize. I don't feel as though I've done even remotely enough, but hearing that means a lot to me.

It is as you said, determination itself is a praiseworthy attribute to have. I'm fairly certain becoming a knight is no easy task, correct? So you have both intent and the effort...meaning all you need now is time.

[princessantly]

Time... [ with a very small grimace. ] I used to think I'd do anything to have more of it, and now it feels as though there's far too much.

[symbologic]

[He sighs.]

It doesn't help that this motive seems to grow stronger with each passing day. It feels as though it's been several years, despite the fact that I know it's only been a few days.

But...we've made it halfway through the week without incident. I think that bodes well. Surely our captors will grow tired of this soon and switch tactics.

[princessantly]

Yes... surely we can overcome this, as a group.

It will be a bit odd, knowing I've only known all of you for a week or two instead of a good many years.

[symbologic]

Yes, I suppose it will. [He chuckles.] Though, when you look at it that way, it's almost as though our captors are helping us instead of hurting us. Feeling as though we've known each other for years can only strengthen our camaraderie, surely.

[Would you kill a friend you've known for years? Of course not. Except. Somebody will...]

[princessantly]

That's true! Anyone would have a difficult time killing a close friend.

[ Don't ask her about people close to her trying to kill her, though. ]

Yes. Actually, I think that would be a very fitting backfire to this motive. I'd very much like to see such a thing happen.

[Unite and conquer the bad guys instead of divide and conquer each other. Hell yeah.]
