seven vices week 1

monday - thursday

Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice.

"Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour."

That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present.

Curiously, anyone who has spoken with Miata for any period of time during the past week will notice that the voice coming from the television and her own do not match up.

Come Tuesday, the footsteps around the void will begin drifting away from it. The pitter-patter of feet can be heard when standing outside the clinic and chapel as well. On top of the food that was added to the kitchen last week, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is now available. You're welcome, Papyrus.

symbologic: and asked him if he wanted to fuck in a spaceship. (smirk ☄ I put purple lights under my bed)

[If anybody actually kills over such a stupid motive, Faize is going to make it his mission to solve the case. Because really now.]

Agreed. If we show them that our wills are stronger than their own, surely they'll move on to their next tactic.

[ It'd be stupid, but at the same time, he wouldn't be surprised. ]

...How long do you believe it will take for them to give up, hypothetically?
symbologic: I think I may be the most normal person in the room. (ponder ☄ For the first time in my life)

Mmm...I would hope that it would be a week, as you suggested. But...the fact that the rule regarding motives was worded as "A new motive may be given each week" is somewhat troubling. It's very likely this could go on for weeks, or even months. So I suppose it's a matter of how desperate they are to see us kill.
dhaosu: (> hmm)

... Hm.

[ It's true it did say that. It was something he hadn't quite thought about, assuming it would be new every week. ]

You are correct. In that case, this one isn't quite too bothersome. It is doubtless that they will have a more brutal motive when they issue a new one, and if they so wish, it is possible for them to keep just the same one if they believe it to be effective.
symbologic: that I laminated my history notes so I can study in the shower. (neutral ☄ I just wanted to let you know)

That would be the most logical progression. Steadily increasing the bar, so to speak. Though I wonder... [Hm, how to put this is a way that Dhaos will get what he's trying to say without having to say it outright and potentially jinxing them>] the more I think about it, the more troubling this "may" clause becomes. You see the problem as well, don't you?

[There's nothing to say motives can't stack, is there? What if they simply add more motives as the weeks pass, as opposed to changing them? Especially with motives like this where it's not a bribe or a reward, but rather a mandate to make something stop.]

[ Dear Martel, just thinking about the possibility makes it all the more of more than just an inconvenience. ]

I do. Let us hope that our kidnappers are not ones to dwell too much on such matters either. At this point, however unfortunate it is, it would be preferred if we something did not already make this difficult than it already is.
