week 1
![]() ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. Curiously, anyone who has spoken with Miata for any period of time during the past week will notice that the voice coming from the television and her own do not match up. Come Tuesday, the footsteps around the void will begin drifting away from it. The pitter-patter of feet can be heard when standing outside the clinic and chapel as well. On top of the food that was added to the kitchen last week, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is now available. You're welcome, Papyrus. >Mingle? This is Week 1's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday. When posting toplevels, specify the time and location. If you plan on having any private conversations between characters, remember to let us know in the post linked below. setting rulebook profiles private conversations |
MOTIVE
Next to the clock is a small table bolted to the ground, holding an equally small analog television. Attempting to lift it will reveal that it is also secured to the table.
Once all 36 people have gathered in the lobby....nothing happens. For what seems like an irritatingly long period of time, absolutely nothing goes down. The only noise is the ticking of the clock, and Miata's shoes tapping its case as she swings her legs back and forth. At last the television will turn on much like the ones in everyone's rooms. The soft, monotone voice begins to speak. ]
Congratulations, you've made it through the week. But this is only the beginning. Sometimes, one needs a little push in order to take action, no?
Time is a tricky thing. You've only been living in our lovely town for a little over a week now, but some of you are getting awful cabin fever. And it will keep getting worse. You'll find time is moving very strangely, now. Perhaps maddeningly so? But, of course, all that needs to happen to stop it is for blood to be spilled. Tata, my doves.
[ That's evidently all the voice has to say, as the TV fades out into static and shuts off on its own. The effect is almost obvious despite the vagueness, however, as the clock will only have advanced about 5 minutes since the first person entered the room. ...just how long were you standing there, anyway?
As can be guessed, everyone's sense of time will be incredibly distorted. Minutes will become hours, hours will amplify tenfold. As the days drag on, the effect will become more and more severe. By the time Thursday comes, all you normal humans will feel as though you've been here for a good thirty to forty years, and the resident immortals will get several hundred.
The only bastions of logic in this situation will be the clocks. Both the grandfather clock, and the digital clocks in the everyone's rooms will show time progressing as normal. ]

I was honestly expecting something worse. [ At least she can handle this, even though she's glancing up at the clock. Huh. She could have sworn she was in here longer... but that's fine.
That isn't to say that it's not Bad, but it could be worse??? ]

Yeah! I mean, we're basically in the same situation as before. Keep looking for a way out until we find one, and never kill anybody.

[Sisuca's been there. The Perpetual Day. Someone could live trapped in that sort of world forever. She takes a deep breath. Is this going to be worse than that? It probably will be, she has a feeling.]
Let's not give up, everyone. If any of you feel worried, you're more than welcome to come and talk to me!

[He heard that! Just glancing toward her with a bit of interest.]
Have you gone through something like this before?

I was expecting something more...compelling. Though I suppose I shouldn't complain. The less compelling the motive, the easier it will be to resist.

Lovely. [Yes, that's sarcasm. At least she's already lived for over a thousand years, so it shouldn't bother her that much. Even so, it was bound to be a terribly boring week.]
I suppose it could be worse, though.

[ She was expecting something a lot more... murderous? Like... well, she doesn't know what like. Something worth the stupid long wait to hear it. ]

...Keh. What foolishness.
[ And that is all, before he decides to linger around. Possibly to maybe snoop on everyone else's conversations? Because after that he will leave the lobby, though. ]
no subject
Time? That wasn't going to be a problem. Even if he can't sleep outside of his room the bed is comfortable enough. What better way to pass the time than sleeping comfortably and lazing around.
But it also would give him time to listen in on conversations, figure out something to do. Try to track down the sounds of those feet. He never had trouble passing the time on his own before, and now there were people around.]

It doesn't sound so bad at first. A little vague? A little ominous? And then the voice had to go and mention blood being spilled and that's not cool. )

She'll have to act quickly, then.
She doesn't need to kill, though. No, if she can identify the people most affected and prod and push - that should get the job done.
The challenge would be not winding up the victim, and not getting caught.
But she can't exactly voice any of that, so instead she opts for gaping and pointing at the television. ]
