seven vices week 1

monday - thursday

Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice.

"Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour."

That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present.

Curiously, anyone who has spoken with Miata for any period of time during the past week will notice that the voice coming from the television and her own do not match up.

Come Tuesday, the footsteps around the void will begin drifting away from it. The pitter-patter of feet can be heard when standing outside the clinic and chapel as well. On top of the food that was added to the kitchen last week, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is now available. You're welcome, Papyrus.

[ Hearing such a thing... well, it does get him to stop, however briefly that may or may not be. ]

...Truly now? Why would you say that?
okuri: (falling on water)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-17 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Yoite stops and stares briefly at the stranger before he responds.]

Because it's the truth.

It was only supposed to be another few months... [ Until his body gave out. But he was still here and it felt like years and even decades had gone by. His mind was telling him one thing, while his body persisted.]

Until you were dead, then?

[ For all Dhaos could know, he could either be speaking of the perception, or due to when he was pulled from his respective place. ]

Even if you were, it would come to no surprise of my own if you were kept alive for their own machinations. On the other hand, if not that, then I shall remind you that only a few days have passed since Miata's superiors placed the motive into effect...which is distorting our perception of time.
okuri: (shiver in the distance)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-17 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. [ A beat.] Even them, they can't fix me. [ Yoite had no doubt they could heal his body given how powerful they were, but it would be impossible to fix his broken life force. A body couldn't exist without a soul inside.]

I remember but... it doesn't feel that way. [He had clung to that memory, but it has gotten more and more difficult as time went on.]

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-17 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He raises a brow. But perhaps the young one was right. Then again, he couldn't really know for sure. ]

You sound confidant about that matter.

[ ... ]

It feels as if many seasons have past, indeed. Yet, surely, you do not anticipate your own end?
okuri: (the stained glass)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Once it's broken, it can't be fixed. [ Even if they had something like Daya, a magical cure-all, he's doubtful.]

Barely anything has changed inside, there's still the same amount of life left.
dhaosu: (> calm)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-17 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

[ At this point, after so much, he would consider it at least a possibility. ]

If that is the case, then, it is good for your own sake you that you have not lost it.
okuri: (I began to see)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-18 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Yoite shakes his head as he searches for the words. It wasn't a good thing, his continued existence could never be a good thing.]

No. It's not supposed to be like this. [ A beat.] It's unnatural.... don't you think?

Even if I said no, it wouldn't change the fact what they are doing is.

[ ... ]

Regardless, you seem to be bothered by it in your case, even if it would benefit you. Am I wrong?
okuri: (with its etchings)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-18 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
You're wrong in that it would benefit me, because it doesn't. [ Continuing to live was in a way, the polar opposite of disappearing from existence.]

But it does bother me.
dhaosu: (> regard)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-18 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
....

[ He doesn't understand, only because the one he is speaking to he presumes is a human, and humans liked to live, right? ]

And why is that?
okuri: (against the skin)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-18 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
...because I don't want to live. [ Neither did he want to die, when you got down to it. His real wish was non-existence.]
dhaosu: (> thought)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-18 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ What is he to say to something like that? He's never heard a human voice such a thing, and yet, here it is. Whatever his reasons, it was still surprising.

However, even though he racks his brain for something proper to say. Sometimes, well, there isn't. Not at this moment, at least. ]

Very well...farewell for now.

[ Ending that with a nod he makes his move to leave. ]
okuri: (segments)

[personal profile] okuri 2016-02-18 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oddly enough, Yoite can appreciate the silence and the plain goodbye. It was more familiar than extended conversations filled with nuances.

He nods in turn, and matches the farewell.]

Goodbye.
