seven vices week 0 ♫ tuesday - sunday With that revelation, things are sure to be more tense--or maybe, you prefer to go the hope route? Either way, the atmosphere of the town begins changing ever so subtly. Once in a while, you can feel someone staring at you from behind, though when you turn to check, no one will be there. Footsteps can also be heard echoing when one stands close to the void, even when alone....of course, no one will be there, either. As of Tuesday, extra food will be found in the kitchen. The ingredients are very based in Western cuisine: rye and wheat bread, potatoes, cabbage, beets, onions, cucumbers, assorted mushrooms, and the like are all supplied. In addition, there are also miscellaneous spices, eggs, milk, and an abundance of fish and pork. Various dishes made with the above ingredients will also be set out for anyone to take during lunch and dinner. A copy of the rulebook has been pinned to the front of the chapel, and a wooden sign now stands at the east edge of town near the clinic: Welcome to Lebensbaum | EST. 1623 | Population: ♜♜♜♜♜♜♜. The bonfire will be lit every night from 10PM to 6AM, after which it will extinguish on its own. >Mingle? This is the last open mingle for Week 0. [ At 12pm sharp, Miata can be found hauling out a corkboard sign from the basement and setting it up in the lobby. She pins a piece of paper to it, adjusts it, and steps back to have a look at it.

Anyone watching will see that it rehashes the basics of the Key Player system from the rulebooks, with 3 empty spaces for names. If you'd like to question her about it, now's the time. ]

[ The source of the increased amount of food will soon become apparent to anyone who frequents the kitchen after noon, as well. Although Miata doesn't disrupt the breakfast cycle, she can be found hauling a few bags of ingredients up, again, from the basement, or even cooking things for lunch and dinner, herself.

If you feel comfortable eating the food one of your captors has made, anyway. ]

That said, he's peering at the food from a safe distance (after all of those idiots tried attacking her the other day, he's not going to be stupid just to pop someone's personal space bubble) watching her cook for Tuesday's dinner.]

he's going to continue doing that for a while, getting increasingly frustrated as nothing seems to happen (what is he even expecting to happen??) and starts angrily muttering with each bang. ]

[The banging sound is what initially attracts her to walk closer to the chapel on her outdoor walk, feet purposefully crunching in the snow to make her presence known (though the sound is nowhere near as long as the banging itself.)

She makes it to the source as soon as he falls over and...well she's utterly unimpressed to say the least. She walks up to his side, takes her stick, and begins poking him with the non-sharpened side.]

[ because seriously, dude, what the hell are you doing?? she couldn't help but be a bit curious, so she decided to stop by. rhys had already established himself as someone easy to pick on, maybe too easy, but this was a little concerning. erratic behavior usually led to more erratic behavior, so she wanted to know if he should be someone she should look out for. not that rhys seemed to have a semblance of strategy in him. ]

I believe there may be a more simple method to getting the lamp's flame, if that is why you're maiming yourself.

Tuesday, all day, Room #301

[Three days surrounded by strangers in close quarters. Three days of absolute rage and panic over his missing powers, over missing his fight with Kakarrot, over being surrounded by potential enemies while vulnerable. Three mornings where Vegeta wakes up and briefly wonders why Bulma isn't in bed with him. Tuesday morning does not break this trend but now Vegeta's had time to calm down (a little). He knows (sort of) who his enemy is now. He knows what the game is, what their intentions are. Some might think being trapped in a killing game would be stressful, but for Vegeta it's rather soothing. Now he can plan.

But he's aware that he hasn't been... on his best behaviour these past few days. He's been reckless and volatile. By now he's finally realised the rooms are soundproof, so he decides it would be in his best interest to just stay in his bedroom and meditate. Being away from everyone else will calm his anxiety and meditating might help him reconnect with his ki. Not to mention, he hates everyone here and wants nothing to do with them.

Everyone else on the look out for the Stupid Shounens is probably relieved to notice that their most volatile team member is missing all day. Or maybe they're concerned? There's no food in the bedrooms, of course, but Vegeta stubbornly decides he doesn't need it. Focusing on how to win and get back his powers is what's truly important. He doesn't need food.]

Wednesday morning, breakfast.

[He was wrong, he does need food. He needs food really bad. Starving yourself is a bad idea no matter what you are, but when you're a saiyan it's a really stupid idea. Vegeta is finally forced to admit this when he realises he's meditating less than he's fainting from hunger. So now he finally makes a public appearance to devour everything at the breakfast table- and I do mean everything. Does he have six stomachs? He must to fit all that food inside of him. There's something wrong with the laws of conservation of mass around this table. It's not even that his table manners are that bad- utensils are used and there's no chewing with his mouth open- but he goes at it like eating every edible thing in front of him is his life's mission.

So yeah, hope no one else was hungry.]

Thursday evening, kitchen.

[But a saiyan cannot live on breakfast alone. Or he can, but not just once a day. Vegeta isn't eager to cook anything Miata makes (probably breaking her poor Latvuanian heart) so he's been busy at the stove for a while making some kind of pork and vegetable stew. He's dug out the biggest pot he can find from the cupboard and it's currently boiling on the stove as Vegeta chops up the last of the vegetables to add to it. It's nothing fancy, but it smells pretty okay! Not to mention, that is a lot of stew- there's no way Vegeta's gonna eat it all himself, right? Especially after the big breakfast he had earlier. Maybe he's sorry for his behaviour over the weekend and is making everyone dinner as an apology.

If you dare enter the kitchen while he's working, he glances over and frowns.] I'm nearly done, you can do whatever you want in here when I am.

[Buddy skipped breakfast to avoid interacting with people, but in the evening she gets hungry enough that she has to eat. She goes to the kitchen to get something small, but the smell of the stew makes her walk toward Vegeta despite her better judgment.]

[ At various times, Inaba can be seen with her laptop -- turned on as she seems to be typing down some notes. A lot of them is in what seems to be in various different languages. She seems to be testing something out, but what that is, really, comes to her as a mystery.

The first line of text seems to read, in Japanese: Hello. I am Inaba Himeko, and I'm a freshman at Yamaboshi High School. Those who might read the language as Japanese (instead of their native language) might denote that she's using atashi (アタシ) in katakana for her 'I'.

The second line of text seems to read something else entirely different, this time in English: Fuusenkazura is a kind of plant.

And the last line isn't in a language. Not really, anyway. [ Three days running on caffeine and literally no sleep doesn't sound like a good sign. Of course, it isn't as if she'd listen to what the others said, back at home -- there wasn't much of a point to it, after all.

She's in the middle of eating, but soon enough she just drops her fork in the middle of all that without another word, her eyes immediately forcing themselves shut as she falls off her chair, taking it with her to the ground as she's knocked out.

This definitely doesn't count under the 'intentionally' falling asleep rule, seeing as she's... just managed to collapse without warning. Someone might want to help her, there. ]

Considering what they're suddenly here for -- well even then, she would think someone has just died with a thud like that. She rushes into the kitchen and the sight of "Nagase" on the ground stuns her.]

Either way, this morning unsuspecting people will be getting pelted with snowballs as they go on a walk through the village. And the person behind it isn't really bothering to camouflage - it's Buddy, dressed in pink and black snow clothes as opposed to her summer poncho.]

Every day in the early afternoon

[If your character goes by the clinic in the afternoon, at any one of the days this week, they will spot Buddy there with her bandage off. Her eye has been clearly scratched out and scarred, looking nowhere close to functional. Naturally she is there to change the bandage around her eye every afternoon.]

What? [She asks if they stare.] Never saw an injured eye before?

Friday evening (kitchen)

[While Buddy has no weapon, she is going to have to improvise. And since her sticks keep getting broken by rude jerks (that means you, Vegeta and Cheshire) she has to keep making more. So inside the kitchen she'll be sharpening a pile of thick sticks she found out in the woods with a kitchen knife used for cooking.]

[ He can be found standing in the lobby, after being in his room, and truly, there was not much to do in there either, besides possibly write something or meditate. [ He's inside the chapel. Perhaps he was hoping to find something, or maybe he is here for another reason in its entirety. Either way, he's been mulling over the entire situation for quite awhile now, and weighing it in comparison to the one he was dealing with before he arrived. In the end, he closes his eyes, even though he knew that trying to communicate with his goddess proved fruitless. Perhaps, it was now merely time for resignation. ]

[ Alisha pauses, obviously troubled by everything that's taken place recently, and maybe she's remembering what he'd talked about, if one could protect without hurting-- but she frowns now. ]

Tuesday Morning → Lobby

( While he doesn't exactly wake up bright and early, Urashima does wake up at a rather decent hour in the morning! He doesn't look it and he certainly doesn't act it but he's still a soldier of sorts in an army so he's used to following a routine. Wake up in the morning, fix the bedding, get dressed, and eat breakfast before doing chores and missions!

But when he comes down from his room, it looks like... he just rolled around in his closet and drawers and threw on some clothes? In theory, he gets how his wardrobe is supposed to work but at the end of the day, it isn't clothes that he's used to wearing. A button is mismatched, his shirt isn't tucked in, his shoes are messily laced, how does he tie a tie??? WHAT ARE THESE and why can't he wear them across his chest like his armor? This whole ordeal is leaving him with a new appreciation for the tantou.

Ugh, he tried... he tried! Now, someone... help him look presentable... He needs an adult. )

Various Times → Kitchen

( It's not that Urashima doesn't know how to cook! Because he does! He can grill fish and roast vegetables over the fire and make rice like any good soldier... but he's extremely content to watch everyone cook. A lot of people here seem to make western style dishes and his experience with those are quite limited. Everything is new! And he's excited to see people at work in the kitchen. Eventually, his curiosity gets the best of him and he'll ask, )

Hey... what're you making?

( Alternatively, around meal times, he can be found at the table staring starry-eyed at the dishes laid out in front of them and trying to decide where to start so he'll try to watch everyone else grab something to eat first and... follow their lead? Wait? )

( After a few more days here, most of the wonder has begun to wear off. He's accepted that Kamekichi isn't around but the people here have been very encouraging! He'll believe them and think that his turtle his home, safe and sound with his brothers who will surely come to rescue him and everyone else as a result. He knows they don't get along but they would put their differences aside for him, right? Until then, he has to do his best here!

He's explored the town a little bit (not that there was much to explore) and now, he's retired to the inside of the church for now, flipping through a profile book and trying his best to remember names with faces. After so many pages, he thinks out loud, )

[ Alisha isn't too terribly fond of this place right now, considering that they'd been locked in and then received the highly unpleasant news-- yeah, no. But she's also feeling restless, and restless means wandering, and wandering leads her here, to where a familiar face is residing. ]

Outside/Pool

Well, it's sinking in that he'll be here for the long haul, assuming he doesn't get messily murdered instead. Takao would rather not have his sempai learn about an autopsy that showed his physical fitness was declining, so you can catch Takao washing down a quick bacon-and-eggs breakfast with orange juice before proper sunrise and then jogging around the town.

After that, his jacket is put away and he actually spends almost all the rest of the morning in the pool. It's a place that makes it easy to forget - the stupid old-fashioned swimsuit goes from an insulting reminder of his kidnapping to comical once Takao is actually wearing it, and the general novelty of the enhanced resistance exercises really takes his mind off of the outside snow.

He goes out jogging again in the evening, too. It freaks him out, having so little to do with his day that he could almost go to bed before dark. And the grit in his teeth when he gets caught up in his steps suggests that... maybe he doesn't want to become the kind of guy who's afraid to be alone outside at night. Come on, his possessions don't say "money". Who'd threaten him for his wallet at knifepoint? Hahaha.

Kitchen

Since Takao is grabbing his breakfast pretty early, he makes up for it at lunch as well as dinner. You can find him every day at the time when the most people are there, making conversation, chiming in with bad jokes to complement other's stories, and eating at least two medium helpings of the main dish like a Healthy Growing Boy. He sticks around for several minutes to help with the dishes too. Or just tries to be available if certain people need something from a high shelf.

As early as Tuesday, it's really easy to pick out a pattern in certain guests. Especially certain solitary guests. Like some boy whom Takao regrets scolding and would like to see smile. So he cracks the brilliant plan, at some lunch or dinnertime, to "improve" a pickled fish dish garnished with paprika or salt or something by supplementing the sprinkling with something like cinnamon or refined sugar. Then Takao returns (with a refilled glass of orange juice) to his own meal of kugelis and waits.

Lobby

This is the worst part of the day. The hours between lunch and dinner where he has no reason to exercise again and nothing productive to do, not even lame homework. So here Takao is, just messing around with pieces of paper. He can fold origami cranes but is stumped on frogs so usually takes time off for paper airplanes. By Thursday he might instead have his booklet with him on his knee as he's writing down names or something on another sheet of paper.

The food here is different and foreign, but there's one plus side to it: the strong spices. The days when he could taste anything seemed like a distant memory, but his sense of smell was still preserved. It was the only way he could enjoy food anymore.

Yoite waits for the crowd to disperse before approaching the meal table, not wanting to be bothered by anyone. Instantly he's attracted to the pickled fish dish more due to it's vivid appearance than anything else. Even better, it had the strong scent of vinegar (masking the faint smell of the substituted sugar crystals on top), which at least gave him an idea of what it was supposed to taste like.

Having taken more than a generous portion, Yoite finds the nearest secluded corner and sits down to eat. It's not quite a freshly baked vanilla cake, but he can imagine that it tastes like vinegar rice with fish. By all accounts, he seems to be enjoying it.

A: Tuesday, throughout
[Twenty-nine people are going to die here.

There's a part of Clover that has simply accepted that as true. The odds are overwhelmingly against her, and she realizes that, too. Things are different, but similar enough; she's done this before. She knows better: help doesn't come in time. You have to play the game.

In all likelihood, she's going to die here. The gravity of that hasn't sunk in completely—maybe because they managed not to devolve into all-out anarchy and get right to murdering yesterday so hey, maybe we can do it again! She's doing her best to minimize how many trips she makes out of her room: she darts to and from the kitchen every now and again, and sometimes wanders outside to explore when it looks like most people are sticking inside where it's warm (she's still not dressed for the weather, Clover why). Everyone receives a wide berth and probably a rude glare; nothing like a murdergame to give you the worst case of resting bitchface.]


B: Wednesday morning/afternoon
[Clover leaves her room too late to get real breakfast with everyone else, because as a teenage girl sleeping in is her god-given right, but it's approaching lunchtime anyway and she couldn't be less interested in actual breakfast food after a weekend of eating nothing but.

She has something on the stove, something in the oven, and no plan: she's running around, often dragging a chair behind her so she can reach higher shelves and cabinets, grabbing pretty much whatever and chopping it up to drop into her pot of cooking soup or set aside on the counter for the potatoes in the oven once they're done.

She's singing something under her breath as she scurries around:] ...the king but watch the queen conquer...

[Clover. Clover.]

...what a motherfuckin' monstah do... [Chair in tow, she heads off to the pantry and, after a few moments of throwing things around and generally making a mess in her search, returns with an armful of ingredients left to be dropped unceremoniously on the counter so her hands are free to bang around the cabinets in search of a pan.] ...notice but my money ain't...

[There's very clearly a whole lot of soup happening right now, and probably more than one tiny person's worth of stuff in the oven; maybe she'll share if you ask nicely.]


C: Thursday afternoon
[Having conceded into wearing some actual goddamn pants, Clover trudges her way over to the clinic to go exploring. She's running out of things to keep her occupied, so sifting through every cabinet available to her is as good a time-waster as any. She needs to haul a chair around to get to the cabinets here, too.

She's just kinda...stuffing some bandaids and gauze and such into her pockets as she does, not at all put off by anyone watching. Like, instead of being even remotely worried that people are going to question her just taking shit from the clinic, she's just gonna make conversation.] Kinda surprising that the supplies in here are pretty decent and useful. I mean, look at this place. Hey, should we, like, do something about these? [Pinching the handle of scalpel between two fingers and kinda just bouncing it; Clover no you're gonna hurt yourself.]

Wednesday 1PM, hotel lobby
[When it comes down to it, Hinata's just one teen with a notepad. There's no way he'll be able to collect information from everyone individually and try to put pieces together... he's pretty sure he's not the Super High School Level Detective or something useful like that. So instead, he spends most of the morning trying to get anyone he's spoken with to agree to meet him and whoever else wants to cooperate to escape this situation. Or maybe you just happen to be passing through the lobby and wondering what the heck could possibly be going on here!]

Hey. I think... we've all had enough time to walk around this place and form our own opinions. I was thinking... maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to share what we know, either from what we've learned here, or any experience you might have had at home that might be useful.

[Hinata's not a public speaker, and he actually seems a little nervous to address a group of people, assuming that there's more than two or three.]

No matter what, we can't let these motives, uh, motivate us. Even if Miata and anyone she's working with promise something... there's no guarantee when or how they'll deliver. We still don't know why we have to do this, or why it's so important for there to be "seven." More than anything, I think the more information we can find and share, the better our chance is going to be to get out of here. And the more we all know... the better our chance will be of stopping a murder before it happens. Or figuring out who the culprit is, if it comes to that.

So, I guess... anything you remember from before you arrived here is going to be helpful, too. Maybe there's a common theme as to why we were unlucky enough to be picked. Or even anything you might have noticed, even if it's really small. If we work together and do our best... it'll be a start.

You know what, that's good enough. He had to write like thirty of these. His hand got really sore.

Friday Afternoon - Pool

Okay. So. Solidly from nine to ten-thirty Takao is for once not idiotically exercising and instead even more idiotically carrying around these tables into the pool room as well as rearranging the lounge chairs into a more concentrated chat area. Then from eleven to twelve-thirty he's hauling plates of food into this area. You'd think his rickshaw would come in handy here. But no. Indoors, he'd knock over a potted plant or something.

So now it's 1 o'clock. He's changed out into his swimsuit - a somewhat frustrating black old-fashioned affair with full shirt and shorts, but that's probably for the best considering the suspicious nature of certain guests. Later there will be deep end activities. For now everyone interested is encouraged to stand around in the shallow end. Time to have a nice, relaxing game of Marco Polo. After a brief rundown of the rules, Takao has generously offered to be "it" first. There's just one problem.

He's complete shit at it.

Maybe it's all the exertion from heavy lifting. Maybe it's the elbow slung over the eyes on which his skills section suggests he depends. Maybe he just doesn't get enough practice at actual swimming. Whatever the reason, sixty seconds have passed, and Takao hasn't tagged a single person. "Gimme a break!" he gripes to himself lightheartedly through clipped laughter. "Okay, one more time! Marco, come on!"

Friday!

1:00PM-2:30PM

[ Pool party...? He's happy enough to attend a party, he's a little less happy to drown himself in a pool (he saw that thing before, not only did it look filthy but it looked wet). But, well, the advantages of attending a party outweigh the disadvantageous of the dastardly liquid so around the time the party is meant to start, Ranulf shows up.

He's not anywhere near dressed for a pool party (sorry, bathing suit, you'll get no wear from him), but he is in his regular outfit. That... that counts for something, right? Probably not.

His first order of business will be greeting the person who handed him an invitation. ] Hey there. If I'm not mistaken, your name was Takao. Did you cook this up all by yourself? [ Yes, yes he does mean both the party and the food.

Sometime after that greeting (and potentially an actual conversation with Takao...!?), Ranulf can be found very near the food and Very Much Not Near the water. This is a good chance for anyone to strike up a conversation with him. Hopefully his mouth won't be too full! Oh, but don't worry, he is saving a lot of food for everyone else. Just... try not to be too disappointed if there's a stunning lack of meat left on the table. ]

2:30-4:00PM

[ Once he gets his fill of being near all that chlorine, Ranulf heads outside to start playing in the snow. Snowballs? Check. Except these snowballs have some lovely decor on them in the form of two tiny triangles. He has a pile of these things next to him. Couple of them even have eyes and mouths poked into them. If you walk by him, you're probably going to get hit with a snowball, whether you're attending the party or not.

First Buddy and now this. Will the streets ever be safe again? ]
