seven vices week 7 24 players remaining ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by Katerina's calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now a park and playground next to the clinic. >Mingle? This is Week 7's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday. When posting toplevels, specify the time and location. [DID SOMEBODY SAY BOOKS AND ALSO ALISHA, FAIZE IS HERE FOR BOTH THESE THINGS. Actually, wait, flip the order there. Alisha and also books. There we go.]

[He was on his way out the door, but of course he's not just going to keep walking when he's greeted with this sight. Course correction initiated, heading over to the princess instead.]

Your gift, I presume? [He gestures to the book, a curious look on his face. What's it about...]

[princessantly]

Ah, yes-- [ And Alisha glances up with a bright smile, holding out the book for him to admire. ]

This is the Celestial Record. It holds information about historical sites and ancient ruins and legends.

[ IT'S NERDY AS HELL AND SHE LOVES IT. ]

[Ugh, this is why he loves you, Alisha. Or one of the reasons, anyway.]

Does it? [Faize looks genuinely interested, taking a moment to move another chair right next to Alisha's so he can sit down and lean in a little to look at the nerd book.] Have you ever been to any of these sites or ruins?

[princessantly]

[ She's instantly perking up and leaning closer towards him to let him see the pages-- there are even sketches, pictures of symbols. ]

I have, yes. I went to the Mt. Mabinogio ruins in an attempt to help my people, and met Sorey there. [ And Mikleo, technically. ] And there's a site close to Ladylake, as well. Can you believe there are ancient pieces of treasure left behind for those who meant to venture forth many years later?

[symbologic]

[Did you really think he wouldn't be excited about a book, Alisha? Really? Honestly, we should all be praying that a library never shows up from the void. Faize will never leave it.]

[But how, HOW can she be this cute, holy shit. He cannot deal.]

Actually, yes. [He laughs softly.] My companions and I have had a similar sort of experience. Not with the same ruins, of course, but they do make for rather excellent places for treasures and secrets, don't they?

Though now I must ask, what sort of treasures you found. IT sounds as though it was something rather exciting.

[princessantly]

Well, it tends to be healing items, or weapons... there was once a magnificent bow that became a vessel for Mikleo to use for armatization-- that is, to join his powers with Sorey's.

[ Bless Faize, he actually seems genuinely interested. ]

I'd love to try traveling more, truthfully...

[symbologic]

[It's really hard to find a topic that Faize isn't genuinely interested in... Bless his nerdy little heart...]

[He glances up from the book to give Alisha a slightly curious look.]

Surely there will be plenty of time for you to do so once we've found a way out of this place?

[Gonna come back to that armatization thing in a bit because if you don't think he's curious about that, you're wrong.]

[princessantly]

Unfortunately not. In order to help my kingdom best, I need to focus on peace talks and bringing our war to an end. A princess can't be selfish during such a time... or at all, really.

[symbologic]

...ah. [Oops.] Of course, I should have realized. I thought that perhaps, since you are also a knight...it might be...easier.

[But he still really only has half an idea how this monarchy stuff works. He looks back down at the book.]

My apologies.

[princessantly]

No, you don't have to apologize! [ INSTANTLY. ] It's true that, as a knight, I am allowed to travel between towns and help where it's needed, but in political matters, my position as a princess tends to come into play more often.

[symbologic]

Mmm... [He glances back up at her. HE STILL FEELS BAD FOR MAKING HER SAD? Because Alisha should not ever be sad.] Perhaps, when the war is over then? As I have little doubt that you will be able to resolve it, eventually. Or am I still grossly misunderstanding the responsibilities you bear as both a princess and a knight?

[He is trying to understand here but this is still all so foreign. Responsibilities and duties, he understands but...in a monarchical context? Not so much.]

Not grossly misunderstanding, no. It will take some time to work out peace talks and follow through on maintaining that peace, if we can manage it, and then perhaps I can start changing more from within but...

One day, perhaps I can see what the world has to offer again.
