week 1 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 1 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 5PM, the trial will close, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

[....]

Ah, I see.

[There's some puzzled bemusement as she thinks that over, because "then the killer flew off with him" is still a strange murder mystery to her.]

It could very well be--it has been mentioned before that the drugs would not have taken long to take effect, if I recall correctly. I still do not entirely understand why you would go through the trouble, though... I suppose that seemed like the most logical option to the killer.

[If you've got him drugged, why.... then decide to drop him off the roof??? You could do anything at that point.]
brawlhalla: (GESTURE ► there it is.)

[personal profile] brawlhalla 2016-02-22 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Which is kind of what you would say if you had lugged one around and didn't want anyone to know? I don't think we can accept that as pure fact.
princessantly: (Why do I get all the bad ends??)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-22 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
She did try to demonstrate her abilities on an actual person, didn't she?
herbgrace: (I'm doing fine)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-22 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a bad theory, given what we have to go on. [Which is a lot of craziness.] It's worth noting the cough drops haven't been used--they were open, but all of them were accounted before, and none seemed damaged, which seems odd to me when our theories revolve around dropping Takeo and fighting with him.

[Poland tilts her head.]

That's good right?
brawlhalla: (PROTEST ►hey now.)

[personal profile] brawlhalla 2016-02-22 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
They - what?! Why?

[ ??????????????????????????????????????? ]

That doesn't even make sense!
dhaosu: (...)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Or it could be something else entirely that caused the burn.

Regardless, I do suspect her.

[ He might have been low-key suspecting her the entire time, whoops. ]
smileleftbehind: (Meh)

[personal profile] smileleftbehind 2016-02-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
But that would explain the half-formed foot prints and the struggle and the need to drug him.
herbgrace: (I'm doing fine)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's possible for her to be acting. I could pretend to be unable to do something if I wanted. I'm not saying this is a guarantee of her guilt, I'm just saying we shouldn't dismiss her solely on things like that.
brawlhalla: (BRO ► plz find ur chill.)

[personal profile] brawlhalla 2016-02-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the rest of it...isn't as well tied to one location. Unfortunately.
herbgrace: (I'm doing fine)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, is that what you mean. If she's strong enough to actually carry him a fair distance but not strong enough to manage without him being drugged, perhaps.
symbologic: Your idea of it and my idea are in separate universes. (neutral ☄ Define "illegal".)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
She did, but only after a murder had already occurred. We have no way of knowing if she was holding back. Unless, perhaps, somebody saw her make use of her abilities at some point before Takao's murder.
keepshispride: (Come and get me)

[personal profile] keepshispride 2016-02-22 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Because we aren't all vulgar imbeciles looking for an excuse to strip in public!

[But ugh, fine. Off come the boots, the gloves and his blue unitard.

The gloves and boots are made of the same tough, surprisingly flexible material and there's nothing in them. The boots probably don't smell great, though, since they're what Vegeta's been wearing every day for the past two weeks. The outfit is a one piece, dark blue and the material isn't something you'd find on normal Earth fashion. It's very tough, but also somewhat elastic. On the inner side of the back collar, there's a black logo printed with no other manufacturing information.

... And Vegeta's keeping his black boxers on thank you very much, so he's not naked. But while he is indeed super buff and covered in scars, none of them look recent or suspicious. And that's all the information Cheshire is getting until he goes for a closer look.]

If she was strong enough to carry a body then there wouldn't be partially made foot prints, and she would have been able to just fly him to the roof with ease.

It's 'cause the killer's a JERK who wants to make this as confusing as possible to mess with us! [GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF STRAIGHTFORWARD MURDER...]

So then we gotta figure out where he was drugged, yeah? If it wasn't in someone's room, then it's kinda weird that no one saw someone carrying him around unless it was super late at night.

[personal profile] earie 2016-02-22 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so what would the killer gain by planting cough drops? [ That just seems like the logical conclusion if they weren't damaged. ] It might point to the dude who coughs a lot, but, like, the killer would have to know that beforehand.
brawlhalla: (EXPLAIN ► you're killing me smalls.)

[personal profile] brawlhalla 2016-02-22 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
So, you think those foot prints had to do with her?
fourleafcleaver: (just because you're twice the size of me)

[personal profile] fourleafcleaver 2016-02-22 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Lie about not being strong so that people like you go, "it can't be her, she said she's not strong."

But time was working strangely- [a small hand wave] If it was hundreds of years especially maybe they wouldn't react like you'd expect.

[Waiting for someone to pass out for years would be surreal to say the least.]

[personal profile] crazily 2016-02-22 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, it is very interesting, isn't it~? They're all circumstance, but considering the circumstances at hand, we may as well pursue them.

[ Break just gets to his point, which is a casual question: ]

Has Miss Hanyuu happened to elaborate on just why she decided to take a swim, by any chance? I'm terribly hard of hearing in my old age, so I may have just missed that. But that's an odd little piece.
herbgrace: (I'm doing fine)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-22 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's difficult to tell. It could be a piece of the killer's clothing that had blood on it--obviously they would want to get rid of that as completely as possible.

I suppose they make bathing suits out of polyester sometimes?

He cares because there was a time when everyone was allowed to be naked around God and it was probably like super great. [Poland has no idea. She hasn't actually liked being naked since nation puberty.]

But we all ruined it by taking bad advice from snakes and eating knowledge apples! So now if we're naked we have to feel bad about it and always wear clothes in chapels.

It's just the rules.

[personal profile] smileleftbehind 2016-02-22 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. If he was fighting back a lot then she would not be able to do it. Would Kaguya need to drug him to carry him?

I enjoy swimming. I do not get to do it that often, back home. With the time so distorted, it helped me clear my mind.
