week 1 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 1 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

symbologic: I think I may be the most normal person in the room. (ponder ☄ For the first time in my life)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's entirely possible. Not only were they on his person, but they're the least lethal thing on the list of missing supplies. [A beat.] Or well...one of? I am unsure what "benadryl" is.

[But it sounds more leathal than cough drops?]

So it seems likely that the two could have met at the clinic before Takao was subdued and taken to the roof.
princessantly: AND FACE FULL LIFE CONSEQUENCES (I must do what has to be done by me)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Subdued... could that have been due to the pinpricks on his back?
symbologic: wants to hit on her. But the gay man in me wants to compliment her awesome outfit. (talk ☄ The straight man in me)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
That would make sense. There's a missing syringe, and morphine is a powerful pain medication that can act as a sedative in high enough doses.
herbgrace: (I should have known)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-21 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
It has a reaction with benadryl, as well, I believe.
symbologic: and covered in cookies. We should celebrate fake hurricanes every weekend. (shock ☄ Woke up on the floor naked)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Does it? [WELP.] Do you happen to know what kind of reaction?
herbgrace: (I should have known)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-21 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
It increases the side effects--dizziness, drowsiness, confusion... [All the sorts of symptoms you'd want to be enhanced if you wanted someone incapacitated.]
symbologic: and drink a gallon of coffee and drunkenly write my research paper. It'll be fine. (gaze ☄ I'm just gonna shower)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. [Well that sucks. But hey, they just figured something out? Look at them go.] So it's probably safe to say that he was given an injection of both then.

[Like. Why else would an allergy reliever be used?]
princessantly: (I wish they'd given me pants...)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ Bless you, Faize, she had no idea what morphine was. ]

Multiple injections...

I imagine they must have had a way to incapacitate him before that, unless this morphine is incredibly fast-acting.
fluorospar: (⁂ the emperor is talking crazy again)

[personal profile] fluorospar 2016-02-21 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
And indeed, then why go to the trouble...?

[Her lips are pursed at that.]

Unless they were unable to carry him otherwise, but even so, to be able to give those injections in the first place...

[WHAT WERE YOU DOING, TAKAO.]
dhaosu: colored in by me (> ?)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-21 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly to make sure he wouldn't wake up whilst he was being presumably dragged around after having been knocked out?

[ Taking a guess, here. ]
princessantly: (Pardon me you were being shounen)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps the culprit would be unable to overpower him if he did wake up, so wanted to ensure that didn't happen...
dhaosu: (...)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-02-21 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
... Indeed, that could be a possibility.

[ He didn't think of that. ]

Unfortunate.

But then, it must be someone with knowledge of these medicines, and what they do.

Do they need to know? Drugs are drugs - any normal human gets enough of them in their system and they can be killed.

symbologic: and do a whole semester's worth of homework while flying on a unicorn and throwing endless glitter bombs. (ponder ☄ I want to run hundreds of miles)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe so. But...according to Lithuania, when mixed with benadryl, its effects are increased. Chances are, it was a combination of both that was used to incapacitate him. I can see no other reason for the benadryl to be used, otherwise.
princessantly: (The fiercest princess)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I see... then we may be dealing with someone possessing a certain medical knowledge. I've never heard of morphine or benadryl before now. Someone not only seemed to know what they both did, but also what mixing them would do.
symbologic: and drink a gallon of coffee and drunkenly write my research paper. It'll be fine. (gaze ☄ I'm just gonna shower)

A safe assumption, yes. That's not the sort of thing one discovers by accident.

Even if you've never heard of something, a lot of medicine has instructions written on it though!

( He knows this because there's probably a first aid kit at the citadel and he's had to figure out what the heck neopsorin is or something. )

So maybe they just read what was on the bottle to figure out what it could do.

No, says Clover found it in the fridge. Is that even where you need to put that stuff?
symbologic: that you spelled "drunken" wrong but "pterodactyl" right. (neutral ☄ I find it simply astounding)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think any of the missing supplies were found in the places they need to be kept. Which is a mystery unto itself...

[WHY WERE THEY SPREAD TO EVERY CORNER OF THE HOTEL?]
hopefragment: definitely not thinking about boobs (thinking carefully*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-02-21 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea, I don't think I'm allergic to anything, so I never thought about it...

Maybe it'll say on the bottle? Those things usually do, right?

[LET'S GO CHECK -- but it doesn't.]

So it's almost like someone was hiding it, don't you think?

No shit, Sherlock. [ Someone had to say it. ]

If it wasn't in a place where you normally wouldn't find it, then it's clear that they were hiding it, either in a panic or they thought that nobody would find all the items, since they seem to be so spread out.
hopefragment: (ah... sou....)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-02-21 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well hiding the morphine in the laundry room is one thing, but the fridge isn't a good hiding spot.

[Why you gotta be so rude]

Why not try to at least break the bottles?
