week 1 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 1 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

I don't believe so. But...according to Lithuania, when mixed with benadryl, its effects are increased. Chances are, it was a combination of both that was used to incapacitate him. I can see no other reason for the benadryl to be used, otherwise.

I see... then we may be dealing with someone possessing a certain medical knowledge. I've never heard of morphine or benadryl before now. Someone not only seemed to know what they both did, but also what mixing them would do.
symbologic: and drink a gallon of coffee and drunkenly write my research paper. It'll be fine. (gaze ☄ I'm just gonna shower)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
A safe assumption, yes. That's not the sort of thing one discovers by accident.
princessantly: (Wait but how do two boys--)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder if that book with our profiles would have anything like that listed under skills...

[ TIME TO PERUSE. ]
symbologic: wearing my glasses and lab coat, while having an actual scientific conversation? (gaze ☄ Is it weird that I wanna have sex)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
For these five, it doesn't. [HE HAS THEM MEMORIZED.] Not explicitly, at least.
princessantly: (Pardon me you were being shounen)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
...

Faize, did you memorize all of the profiles?
symbologic: and do a whole semester's worth of homework while flying on a unicorn and throwing endless glitter bombs. (ponder ☄ I want to run hundreds of miles)

[Don't judge him.]

Yes. The rulebook as well. [Because he's a nerd.] Given the circumstances, I felt it would be wise. Even ignoring the "game", if we're all going to be stuck here together for a while, in't it best to know as much about everyone as possible?

[Mostly though, he's just a little info sponge.]
princessantly: It'll actually hurt (Let us engage in ladylike fisticuffs)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
... Please forget my weight immediately.

[ IN THE MOST REGAL TONE-- before she clears her throat. ]

That aside, was there anything there that struck you as even potentially related?

[ She'd look, but she has Faize the Memorizing Wonder right here. ]
symbologic: call you to say I was swimming in outer space. (shock ☄ Please tell me that I didn't)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ALISHA, PLEASE. Faize snaps to attention though. Can't resist the princess voice.]

O-of course! [Forgetting it immediately, even if it's nothing to be ashamed of??? Gurl, you look gr8. But moving along.]

There are only two things that strike me as possibly related though. Youko is a homemaker, and I would assume at least some knowledge of basic medicine goes hand in hand with such a profession, no? And Kaguya is immune to all illnesses and poisons, though it does not specify whether this is a natural resistance or something that she may have induced herself.

[A beat.]

Additionally, Yoite is a member of some manner of organization with an unspecified purpose. Though I don't think that's enough to cast suspicion on him, as it's entirely possible there's nothing medical about it. It's simply an unknown.

[ Knowing any lady's weight is a nono, okay!! Okay!!!!! ]

I suppose we could ask him about it. And an immunity to illnesses and poisons... you're right, we don't know whether it's natural or not. If she built up that immunity herself, she ought to have a strong working knowledge of medicine.
symbologic: this truck is a spaceship for so long. (sigh ☄ I'm so bored. I can only pretend)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[LISTEN...listen.......he's not trying to be a weirdo, he's just thorough! A thorough little nerdling.]

We could, though...Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much good it would do. If it is relevant, and he is the killer, presumably he would lie. The same goes for Kaguya's immunities. Neither can be considered a reliable source on information pertaining to themselves, at the moment.

Perhaps we should focus on other aspects of the murder and come back to this once we've pieced more things together.

Even if you've never heard of something, a lot of medicine has instructions written on it though!

( He knows this because there's probably a first aid kit at the citadel and he's had to figure out what the heck neopsorin is or something. )

So maybe they just read what was on the bottle to figure out what it could do.
princessantly: (Cutting up pigs is truly serious shit)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Do you know if the instructions would include side effects of mixing it with another medication?

[personal profile] minogame 2016-02-21 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'd have to check... but the medicine back home has really little warnings with pictures like not to drink alcohol or on an empty stomach.

... And if you take too much, you should call a number for help!

Oh! And sometimes the instructions tell you that the medicine might make you sleepy or give you nosebleeds or other bad things.

princessantly: AND FACE FULL LIFE CONSEQUENCES (I must do what has to be done by me)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Then we should look at the bottle. If the instructions say as much... then really, anyone who took the time to read it would know how to use it to the effect that they did.

Mhmm! Let's go, I'll try to help explain too!

( Try. Don't ask him to read any crazy ingredients like diphenhydramine and antihistamine!

And it looks like it's just generic instructions. How much to take, some basic side effects, see a doctor if you consume too much, etc!
)

It doesn't say anything about mixing it with any other medicines.

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
We can't entirely rule out that they simply thought mixing a sedative with a drug that can cause drowsiness would work well for them... but someone really might have been that knowledgeable.
minogame: pixiv: 1196690 (pic#9986609)

[personal profile] minogame 2016-02-21 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, especially if you knew one was already really strong and that mixing medicine is bad.

But I think not knowing how things would work normally isn't a good excuse when there are instructions written on them!

( So... this didn't really narrow down any suspects. )
princessantly: (Are you pondering what I'm pondering)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever the case, they truly didn't want him to wake up anytime soon.

I'd mentioned this to Lord Dhaos, but I believe this may remove at least one suspect.

[personal profile] minogame 2016-02-21 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Who do you think that is?
princessantly: (Why do I get all the bad ends??)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-21 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe Sir Vegeta would bother worrying about him staying asleep with his confidence in his abilities, to the point where he could simply knock him unconscious himself.

But whoever did this may not have been comfortable with the prospect of him waking up and standing a chance of defending himself.
