seven vices case 1 - investigation ♫ friday On Friday morning, time shifts. It's a strange, twisting feeling reverberating throughout all in the town, even able to be felt by those still asleep, warping their dreams. Everyone's sense of time is back to normal, and the large grandfather clock in the lobby is gone. Which, here, can only mean the mastermind had a change of heart--or someone is dead. >Investigate? cast setting

[ Thank fuck time is working properly again. Since looking around seems to be a thing they are doing, Astrid heads outside so she can head over to the bonfire. She wants fresh air while she can think straight, after all. Any luck? ]

[ NO BODIES, THANKFULLY

However, there is a something dark at the edge of the pit. ]

[brawlhalla]

[ Well, okay, let's check out the something dark. Astrid has zero qualms about examining strange objects. WHAT IS IT. ]

[vicedirector]

[ It looks like a heavily-burnt scrap of fabric. ]

[brawlhalla]

[ Ah. Is it recognizable as being from clothes or something else? And is there anything else in the pit, like...IDK, more ashes than usual or something, Astrid hangs out by the bonfire a lot she'd notice. ]

[vicedirector]

[ It's impossible to tell due to how small it is, but it's made out of wool and ends in a point, like a triangle.

And when she's done with that there is indeed something else in the pit. ]

[brawlhalla]

[ ALL RIGHT, what's that in the pit? GOES TO RETRIEVE IT. Carefully. ]

[vicedirector]

[ There are two somethings, specifically. Both are small enough to carry in your hands, and are blackened and burned, one moreso than the other. The first is nigh-unrecognizable, charred to a husk, but if she dusts off the soot and has a good look, she may be able to tell that it's plastic.

The second one is more identifiable. The metal is slightly warped but not really worse for the wear--congratulations, you've found the missing trauma shears. ]

[ SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL THAT!!! If plastic were a thing she were familiar with. Sadly, Astrid has no idea what the name of the material is.

She'll take both items, though. ]

........What in Hel's name is this?

[ THAT SAID, is that all that can be noticed in the bonfire area or on a close examination of the items themselves? ]

[ That's all that can be noticed, yes. ]

[Astrid wasn't the only one looking for some fresh air to clear the head after time fixes itself. She's not the most talkative normally but seeing the other poking around the bonfire she can't help but be a bit curious.]

Is something the matter?

[brawlhalla]

Maybe. Looks like someone was burning...something. Not a body, I don't think, but it's probably important.

[ if they have to find out WHO DID IT, or whatever. ]

[NOT A BODY... She looks startled that Astrid would even think someone would take up the murder deal but, well, time wasn't weird anymore. The worst case scenario might have happened.]

It looks like fabric... It could have just snagged on a log when someone added it in, right?

[ LOOK. SHE'S A VIKING. Violence isn't surprising, even if all of this is...

well. weird. ]

It could have. But if we're really going to have to "solve" this - and I'm going to assume they didn't just decide "hey, let's stop being trolls and messing with these people" - anything out of place could be important...right?

[ Think like Hiccup, or Fishlegs.

If only she knew what they would do here. Panic? ]

[At least the viking is calm... Lucy nods at the sound logic.]

When you say it like that... Being thorough is the better option.

[She kneels down to pick up the scrap and poke around the ashes of the bonfire for any other suspiciously solid things. It's better to keep it on hand in addition to testimony after all.]

[ Astrid was looking at that scrap, Lucy! ]

Yeah. The worst thing we could do is dismiss something important as something unimportant, now.

Did you see anyone out here before you arrived?

[What's a fingerprint??? Hoard all the info as soon as possible.]

[ It's getting her an annoyed look, anyway...grabby!!! but astrid doesn't say anything about it for the time being. ]

No. Stormfly didn't react to anyone being around, either.

[Look! She's not used to working with other people. She gives the fabric piece a once over before straightening up and allowing Astrid a better look now that she isn't hunched over it anymore. It's definitely burnt and wool.]

Is that the name of your... [dragon??? right.] Then it might be from much earlier in the night.

[ Holding out a hand for it, Astrid will give it a closer look as well. ]

My dragon, yeah. And she stays with me at night, usually - we're always up pretty early, but this time thing has messed with...well, when we're up or not.

[ She shrugs. ]

[She passes it over. A frown at the mention of the time warping.]

That makes sense. I guess trying to come up with a timeline would be a bit pointless thanks to all that.

Yeah, it's kind of a pain in the ass, isn't it?
