week 7 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |

that said, the oddest thing about rhys' beds is that the bed closest to the door is askew. as dhaos pushes the door into rhys room open, it'll bump against the bed frame as if rhys pushed the bed in an effort to block the door with it. then moved it back and was too lazy to actually... put it back correctly. so now it's been left at an awkward, clunky angle and rhys hasn't done anything to fix that. welp!
and the second thing about the beds that they'll both notice is that there isn't actually any bedding on either of them. all the pillows and blankets that were supposed to be covering the mattresses have been moved -- to break's room, where rhys was sleeping last night. so both mattresses will lie bare.
on the bed closest to the window though, there will be a small pile of wet towels that rhys left, lining up with his alibi. they're mostly dry now maybe a little damp because rhys didn't leave them to air out, but that's the only thing on the beds.
other than that, the room is fairly neat.
rhys' closet on the other hand has a variety of shirts hanging on the hangers, some given by the hotel, others from the clothing store -- all in shades of blue and yellow because when you have a color scheme, you stick to it! one hanger will hold a yellow scarf that's so messy it looks like it was knitted by a blind guy... which it was. but it's hung up with care anyway!
the oddest thing about this closet and all of the shirts in the closet is that they're all missing their right sleeve. where are all these sleeves, you may ask?
they're in a pile in the back of the closet. it looks rhys cut off all the sleeves of his shirts and didn't know what to do with the fabric, so he just... pushed them in the back of the closet. good job, rhys.
what's next, boys? ]

He checks if the floorboards were loose, and then to the man's drawers next to see if there was anything there. ]
Find anything?
no subject
No, just bad clothes. [ If he has a reaction to the piles of discarded sleeves he doesn't say anything, but next he checks out the safe.]

when dhaos checks the drawers the first thing he will see is... socks. like, a lot of socks. so many fucking socks. basically, if they were in the clothing store, they're now in rhys' drawer. the first two drawers will just be filled with socks. the third drawer will be underwear in more bright shades of neon blue and yellow (he wears briefs) and then the fourth and final drawer will just be pants.
rhys is very particular about his socks, okay.
and as for the safe, there will be two things in that safe. one will be his stun baton, deactivated at the moment to just be the handle and the other will be a stack of papers and a pencil. if yoite rifles through that stack of papers, he'll find some letters that rhys thought important enough to actually write out using paper and pencil. he's really going retro for this, huh? otherwise, that's it. there's nothing wrong with the floorboards either so that was pretty fruitless.
what will y'all check next? ]
no subject
[ Dhaos moves to check out the bathroom next, because that is quite frankly the next reasonable course of action. ]
Although I didn't expect anything less, from a human like him.
no subject
With that disclosed he goes to check out the TV and clock in case there's anything off about them.]

anyway, as for the bathroom, it's pretty normal. there's more wet towels on the floor of the bathroom and the bathtub seems to be rimmed with dirt. as in actual dirt, like maybe a certain robot fell into the snow and dirt and rhys had to clean him up type of dirt. in fact, there's one of those cut off sleeves from earlier hanging off the edge of the tub as the dirtiest piece of fabric. rhys probably used it to clean dumpy's little cracks.
other than that, there's the usual bathroom necessities. his toothbrush is missing since he hasn't slept there in two nights but otherwise, everything is there with normal usage. it just seems to fall in line with rhys' alibi.
and as for the tv and the clock, they're pretty normal too! except, well. they both have clear signs of being taken apart as far as rhys was able to manage and then put back together. rhys is an engineer though so it isn't a poor job at all and the clock is even working better than it was when rhys first got it, but it's definitely less dusty around the edges than it would be if rhys hadn't taken it apart. there's nothing hidden inside either of them, just a symptom of rhys' paranoia and restlessness. ]
no subject
Not really, though.
Dhaos peers out of the bathroom. ]
What kind of device does it look like? Does it turn on?
[ Coming over. ]
no subject
...and someone should probably explain technology to these two.]
Maybe. It's like a long stick. [ He offers it to Dhaos if he wants to take it.]
no subject
but as for the stun baton, it's pretty simple! if either of them press the button set right in the middle of the handle, the metal rod will shoot out of the handle and extend completely.
then if they press it again, it lights up with electricity. be careful not to touch! it's... pretty powerful and will in fact hurt. a lot. ]
no subject
Dhaos reaches for it to take it. Then, he will press the button. And then out of curiosity press the button again. When it lights up with electricity it spooks him a little and he almost drops it. ]
......
[ He just hits the button again to try to turn it off. ]
no subject
So he does have a weapon.
no subject
Mm... that he does. It does not look like something to scoff at.
[ Although for him it would be. But it's a murder case and having weapons in rooms are always cause to look into in his opinion. Even if they weren't used, like in Lucy's case. ]
no subject
When I fought him weeks ago he had it on him. I didn't recognize it before because he never drew it on me then, but he had his hand on something on his belt. It was probably this.
no subject
Hnn...I see. Although the only issue with it being Rhys is we'd have to factor into where the blade comes in.
[ Because seriously, he wouldn't know how re: Rhys. ]
