seven vices case 7 - investigation ♫ friday On Friday morning, the loss of the motive isn't terribly noticeable. As there were no mental effects this week, and everyone had taken their envelopes to at least destroy them, it's almost impossible to tell that something is off. Unless of course you're getting up in the wee hours. Perhaps just to go to the bathroom? Whatever your reason, though, something is noticeably wrong--the power is out. >Investigate? cast setting

[ Getting closer, it's easier to see that it's not a mass, or a single person, but two people tied together, the chains binding them glinting in the dim light.

Inaba comes face to face with a bloody stump--the first person is unidentifiable due to missing their fucking head. ]

[ WELL SHIT.

She almost drops her laptop but no, she's fine. She's fine. She won't scream. Just... give her a second she has to deal with this. If the beheaded person isn't identifiable by their head, she'll check their clothes. But who's the other person? Surely they have their head on, right?

And Inaba may or may not be attempting to strip to see if she can't swim to the bodies after attempting to discern who they are. She's not getting these clothes wet, screw that. ]

[dhaosu]

[ Dhaos is going to come in at some point, likely at this time to make sure that Inaba isn't here by her lonesome. It will take him a little bit to reach there, and he's like, at the door, somewhere. Where he can't see stuff. ]

...Inaba? Did you find anything? Do you require any assistance?

[ The headless body is wearing masculine clothing, and from what can be gathered, has a masculine build, too, but otherwise no.

As for the second one, its mass of blonde hair makes it more easily spotted.

Alisha Diphda is dead. ]

[ Nice timing, because she was just about to finish the last button before he got here.

Her skirt is off, though. Just let her put that back on. . . ]

There's two dead bodies in there and one of them's Alisha! You need to help me get them out! I can't tell who the other person is, though...

[ But she should at least guess who it isn't by the body compared to Alisha's. How tall is this masculine dude? ]

[ Dhaos falls silent at that. Alisha.

Let us say he waits until Inaba is done with her thing.

Then he comes forward easily enough, though, going towards the pool himself, facial expression as it usually was, and he comes close to the pool, to see if he would have to go in to pull them out. If he does, he will take his cloak off, actually.

Surprisingly, because bloody or not, since it's water it's more manageable. ]

[ The headless body is taller than Alisha, almost a foot so. ...and not blue-skinned, y'all. Relax for now.

As for Dhaos, he will definitely have to dive in to get them. Looking closely, he can see that the end of the chain holding them together is tied to something at the bottom of the pool. Which probably explains why they're not floating on the surface. ]

[dhaosu]

[ ...Well. Dhaos decides it may be easier to do this if he reaches over to begin to untie them. This will likely make it easier for them to float up and for Inaba to look. ]

[ Success. Once the chain unravels, Alisha and Mystery Corpse float up and apart.

What are we looking at first, y'all? ]

[ Well, let's make sure who's handless. Is it Alisha or Mysterious Body B? After that, she'll finally speak up, grabbing her laptop. ]

Can you deal with the body from here? I'm going to tell the others about what happened.

[ And try not to let Certain People In. ]

[ Dhaos makes sure to examine what the object the chain was originally tied to first before he rises to the water so that he can very well hear her words. ]

...Very well.

[ He will be moving the bodies next onto the side of the pool so they're no longer in the water, grabbing each as he does so with ease, and following that, taking a closer look at the masculine one first to see if there were any identifying features/or obvious injuries. ]

[ It's a...pile of chains. The binding chain's end is literally wrapped around a bundle of the two other missing chains. Together, they're quite heavy.

As for the masculine body, it is indeed missing one of its hands. And generally in bad shape. Really, really bad shape. Someone did not like the owner of Headless Body. It's bruised and beaten to hell and back. ]

[ Okay, welp. Dhaos will take a further look at the masucline body just to make sure he didn't miss anything, before looking more or less now focused upon Alisha's dead body.

What can be gleaned from there? ]

[ Well, if Dhaos feels like hating himself, he can take a closer look at the headless stump. It looks like something cut cleanly through it, but only part-way, and the rest is a jagged mess. Curious.

As for Alisha, she's actually in one piece, thankfully. What's most obvious about her body, though, is the tremendous degree of burns. ]

[ Dhaos probably did feel like hating himself... unfortunately, and grimaces. He needs to be thorough. Painfully so, in this case.

... It also seems we have a pyromaniac on our hands.

That aside, his eyebrows furrow as he takes another closer look at Alisha, to see if there were anything else besides the burns. Or rather if there were any marks of any sort upon her. ]

( Only severe burns. Her skin is red and blistering all around.

Also, the lights are on )

[dhaosu]

[ Then, Dhaos will take another full sweep upon the bodies just as additional precaution, and grimacing as he does so, because it involves using his hands as well. If there is nothing else there, he will take a glance/walk around the pool to see if there was something else besides the possible third body.

Especially now that the lights were on; he will also make sure to make a few stops to scrutinize at anything around just in case someone hid something away or something. ]

[Okay, so as not to clutter Dhaos's lovely body investigation...Certain People are gonna arrive here and now.]

[Congrats, Inaba. It's like your thought that MAYBE Faize shouldn't go in the pool actually ended up summoning him. Because the door bangs open almost as soon as she finishes her sentence, revealing one (1) pajama-clad elf who looks about two seconds away from a panic attack.]

[At least it's dark and he's on the wrong side of the room to actually SEE the bodies in detail but...he can tell he's just walked in on a murder scene at least, and that's enough to make him stop dead in his tracks in the doorway.]

[There's definitely some sounds from behind Faize like someone tripped and fell face-first onto the floor behind him. Thus it's a couple long seconds before Hinata comes up behind Faize, glancing up over his shoulder.

That's also probably when the body discovery announcement happens. This is fine.]

[ That's definitely a bad sign as she freezes up for a second before making absolutely sure that she's in front of them. She's frantic, but at the same time she can't help but speak in an angry voice. ]

You guys need to get out. Right now. [ This is a warning. Whether they take it or not is another question. ] Two people are fucking dead and one of them is decapitated and I swear to god you really don't want to see this shit.

[You really don't want to see this shit. Truer words have likely never been spoken these past few months, and yet, they go completely unheeded. Because the lights are on now, and even with Inaba standing in front of the bodies...the hair on the non-decapitated one is unmistakable, even soaking wet.]

[Faize's body suddenly feels like lead. This can't be right. This can't be real, and yet...]

[Faize hasn't said a word since he and Hinata arrived in the lobby. And even now, with his worst fears confirmed, he still doesn't. Instead, the first sound to come out of his mouth, after all this time is...laughter.]

[Completely humorless, almost forced laughter that starts out slow and soft but grows louder and more broken as the seconds tick by. Roxy, wherever she is behind Hinata, will probably recognize it. From that one morning in the kitchen all those weeks ago during grief week.]

[When you've literally never dealt with actual, genuine grief EVER in your life, you don't always have the most appropriate response to it.]

[But the wrongness of Faize's reaction to this doesn't end there. Oh no, of course not. Anyone close enough to Faize who happens to look at his face will notice something pretty fucking weird about his eyes. No, not the glassy wetness of tears that have yet to fall, that much is probably completely expected. But what was once purple is now a glowing neon red. It's a shame the lights are on now because this would have been a hell of a lot trippier in the dark, but them's the breakers apparently.]

[Well if Inaba's telling them to get out, and Roxy is technically accompanying them as you do, there's really only a very small handful of people who could be deda. And considering one of the members of teen cuddle squad disappeared at some point this morning--

It's then he hears Faize's laughter, and his blood chills. That's... listen, there's being bad with emotion, and then there's something like that. He's never heard laughter like this before, not even back on the island he was so rudely taken from.]

...F-Faize?

[Okay now he is moving past him, lightly touching his arm. Come back to reality, dude. Even if. Hm. Mm. Maybe reality is not the best thing for you right now.]

C-c'mon, Inaba's right, let's...

[He trails off, because asking Faize to leave like this just feels wrong. But keeping him here feels like it'd be even worse. Also wtf is up with your eyes?? #AllEldariansOrJustFaize2k16 continues.]

( The lights are indeed on just in time for Faize to see Alisha's body but wait there's more.

Now that the lights are on and everyone can see, there is a third body floating face-down at the very edge of the back of the pool. )

[Whatever is up with his eyes, it stops as the laughter cuts off with an abrupt, surprised gasp. Arm touching was a good idea, Hinata, thank you for getting this despair train back on the rails. Faize is fine now, no need to worry. Ignore the fact that he still looks like he's about to cry.]

[No, really, you should probably worry. BUT FIRST. WE SHOULD...ALL PROBABLY WORRY ABOUT THAT THIRD FUCKING BODY? Which Faize hasn't even noticed yet because he's biased. Even when Alisha is dead, he's biased.]

Faize....

[NO HE'S HELLA WORRIED BRO. He really wants to retreat and maybe try to figure out some way of teaching Faize exactly how normal people are supposed to deal with grief but oh god why is there a third body.]

W-wait, t-the announcement... the announcement only said two!

[He's just... keeping that hold on Faize's arm, trying to guide him along with him to find the third body. Let's... not... look toward the #confirmed dead blonde over by Dhaos.]
