week 5 - day 2 trial

seven vices case 5 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

[ Dhaos is biased as well (in a different sort of way obviously). But... ]

I believe Lucy could feasibly be an accomplice in that situation, then.

[ He can't really see that human as the ring leader, or rather, as the true culprit. ]

Whomever tampered with the trap would have the true intent to kill, correct?
hopefragment: definitely not thinking about boobs (thinking carefully*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-03-20 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I think, yeah. So we have to look at this case from a different angle, like... who would Cheshire work with? Or who might have noticed Cheshire trying to enact his plan?
dhaosu: (> jiiii)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-20 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
This is where it gets difficult. If Cheshire was working with someone, I would say Satori. However, she wouldn't turn her back on him to tamper with it.

Let us say someone did notice Cheshire attempting to enact his plan. I am thinking it's possible that individual conferred with another to cause it to backfire. Therefore, if Lucy was an accomplice to that someone... that someone could very well be Clover Field.

[ ... ]

I realize you do not wish to hear this. But I am willing to hear who you think it is as well.

It was not Clover! She would never do anything like this.

[Who is the small pink attack chihuahua now?]
dhaosu: (...)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-20 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I see...

[ Listen, it's acceptable when Lucy does it. He's only saying 'I see' though so it doesn't segue into another argument. ]
hopefragment: *presents panties* (i'll prove it with this!*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-03-20 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that still doesn't make sense. I can't imagine Lucy would willingly let herself get caught in a blast like that, it's absurd. What if it went wrong? Neither of them are trained in explosives, and there's no way of predicting exactly how far that blast radius could extend.

Even if Lucy were the type, I can't see Clover willingly putting Lucy at risk like that. I'd expect her to be the one to... get caught in it, instead, if that were truly the case.

I don't know for sure who it would be, but if we keep narrowing it down, we'll have to arrive at the truth.
dhaosu: (> listening)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-20 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Despite everything, Dhaos is listening. ]

Perhaps that could be the case. If anything, pursuing the evidence or testimony further may prove to glean something more as to who could have been a much more likely candidate.

Although it's worth noting Clover did tell Lucy numerous times that 'she should have waited', if that bears mentioning. So it could be a case of something indeed going wrong not just in Cheshire's case.

[ But he is not saying that he has made his complete decision in stone, yet. Even now he realizes it's too early for that. ]

[personal profile] fourleafcleaver 2016-03-20 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That she should have waited for me to wake up before she left on her own! I've been saying that since yesterday. Use your ears. [She was kiiind of a hysterical mess Friday, she doesn't even have any clue what she was talking about then.]
dhaosu: (> twilight)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-21 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Mm...

[ He could try arguing with her about this but he just narrows his eyes at her remembering her words from yesterday...

'--assuming we aren't lucky enough to have someone kill you first!'

...and turns away. ]
hopefragment: and then one "it's not unusual" (put in seven "what's new pussycats"*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-03-20 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not wrong about what you said, but... I still don't think you can look at Lucy for it. Even if "she should have waited," is taken to mean that Clover knew about what was going to happen... Lucy's not stupid. She wouldn't knowingly go down to the kitchen to try to use the same stove she already knows is tampered with.
dhaosu: colored in by me (> ?)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-21 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I can't look at Lucy for being the accomplice? Then who else lit the matches?

Lucy may not have been stupid, but surely she must have been desperate to make sure it went off. Otherwise she would not have lit the matches at that time, correct?

...What if that's just part of the reason Clover took Lucy to her room to begin with then? To try and make sure Lucy wouldn't get involved. But then it backfired.
hopefragment: *presents panties* (i'll prove it with this!*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-03-21 12:04 am (UTC)(link)

[She shrugs.]

I'm only bringing up a possibility. I have no stake to claim in this game anymore. I can't even vote for anyone.
detanimetion: (serious)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-03-21 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
No, Clover doesn't have any opportunities in her alibi where she could have tampered with the stove after Cheshire did. The only way she could be the killer is if Lucy's an accomplice and lied about her alibi for her.

Or she waited until Lucy went to sleep, took her room key and sneaked out of the room. If we're assuming Cheshire was the one who cut the pipe with the knife, all Clover would need to do is tamper with that trap.

[WOW HEARD YOU WERE TALKING SHIT ABOUT HER GLITTERSIS] How do you know she wouldn't backstab Cheshire? You can't say that for sure!! Especially not after you keep suspecting Clover for putting Lucy in danger!
unpleasantries: (I'll roll again today)

[personal profile] unpleasantries 2016-03-20 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
If I were going to throw someone to the wolves in a murder plot, it would not be an animal, or someone who resembles one. It would be a human. You, Cheshire, and Ranulf would never, ever take the blame for something I did. Everyone else is fair game. But not animals.

[Satori says this with a quiet sort of anger.]
detanimetion: (embarrassed smile)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-03-20 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh...really? [Okay well like 99% of the people she knows back home are based off some sort of animal, so she really can't fault that line of thinking.]

In that case, Papyrus and Sans should count as animals too! Papyrus even plays fetch automatically when you throw a stick at him! [skeletons...animals...same thing]

[Clover definitely starts to JUMP OUT OF HER SEAT to scream at Dhaos, she is ready to go Lucy hold her earmuffs, but the defense squad gets to it first and. Aw. What good friends.

She looks pretty damn satisfied when she sits back down, no fits pitched at all.

[Dhaos... are you serious right now?]

An accomplice?! There's no way I'm anything like that! I was as caught up in that explosion as he was.
dhaosu: (> can i turn back time?)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-20 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He is unsure. But unfortunately he could not think of anything else. ]

... There were matches lit, and Cheshire could not do so by himself given his clawed hands. If there was no third person and no one else could have feasibly been able to thrown one into the room then... how else would that happen?
