week 5 - day 1 trial
![]() ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? VOTING setting rulebook |

...Of course, I'm sure my reasoning has flaws, but it seems the most likely to me right now.

It's definitely not Lucy! You don't know her at all! Even if she were going to kill someone, which she wouldn't, she wouldn't take a risk like that!

turns to dhaos]
Of course, Field's hyper-defensiveness isn't making her look good, either.
[She doesn't seriously consider Clover as a possibility right now but Dhaos is most likely to join in giving her shit, right????]

You're correct. This cannot bode well-- perhaps she is an accomplice?

[this is awful]

[ Is this what it's come to? ]

Perfect! Get Miata to bless our pendants and let's wrap this up.
[She spends a few more seconds trying to suppress a giggle, and when she succeeds:]
In all seriousness, though, accomplice or no, Steel does seem the most likely suspect to me.

Let us do so.
[ If that really happened though, he would really laugh. However, at her asserting her opinion, he doesn't dismiss it. ]
Very well, I shall consider it. She doesn't look the type, but it could be that she was so desperate to carry out what needed to be done, she went through such methods. And you are correct, humans are predispositioned to doing such things.

I told you, Lucy wouldn't do something like that. Even if she was gonna kill anyone, and she wouldn't, it's way too much of a risk for her to let herself get caught in an explosion like that!

[She waves her hand dismissively.]
Everyone likes to say they know a person, but everyone keeps secrets. Everyone has a price. Just because the image someone presents is a person who "wouldn't do that" doesn't mean anything. Unless you can read her mind, you don't know a thing about her.
[Clover accidentally hit Satori's Issues............]

Fine, then look at it logically: Lucy's just a normal human. She doesn't have any magic powers or whatever. She's young and she's small. If she had been any closer, or if...if Lithuania and Poland didn't know what they were doing... [Her voice catches, just so, thinking about how that sentence should end. Lucy would have died. She swallows and continues.] There are too many variables when she's as fragile as she is, especially compared to the other suspects. Even if it's possible, it's stupidly unlikely.

[When Clover continues, Satori leans in, listening. When her explanation is done, she leans back again.]
I think you're underestimating normal humans, but I'll take what you've said into consideration. You can choose not to believe me, but I don't actually want to get this wrong.
[Cheshire deserves better than that.]

I trust Clover with my life. I know that sounds silly given everything that has happened but it's true. I know my word doesn't mean much in all this but I swear that I did not plant some bomb. I would never kill over the motive we were given. President Valentine is already dead. I cannot get any further revenge from him.
