week 3 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 3 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Exhibit A - Oxycodone

[A 3/4 full bottle of oxycodone pills, bright blue, along with a few that are out of the bottle and the remains of one crushed pill.]

Found the loose pills on the floor of the clinic, in one of the offices. Pills matched up to this bottle, which is emptier than it should be even accounting for the pills on the floor. Oxycodone is a painkiller, and overdosing can result in severe symptoms such as drowsiness, loss of consciousness, and decreased awareness.

Exhibit B - Knife

[A kitchen knife with specks of blood on it.]

Found in the kitchen knife rack. The specks of blood are smudged - it looks like someone might have tried to wipe them off.

Exhibit C - Cruxis Crystal pieces

Shattered pieces of Zelos' Cruxis Crystal. They were found around the snow nearby the fire pit.

Then, he slowly turns to face her. ]

Very well. A Cruxis Crystal enhances one's physical capabilities and can extend their lifespan to an indefinite amount. That is all.

I have never heard of such a thing either.

It has been quite some time since I have seen one. That said, if something like this is damaged or removed, it can prove to have consequences for the wearer as well... one of those of which could be 'immediate death' depending on how long they've worn it.

Unless Zelos happened to run his mouth, thinking he would impress the one he was with before the altercation, I sincerely doubt it.

[ Which can be a possibility. STILL. But. He doesn't think Zelos the type... maybe. He's a hu-- okay humans are not all bad. ]

If anything, I believe the killer may have simply have gotten lucky.

How long, exactly? Is it merely a side effect of the crystal itself, or would they die because they've outlived their natural lifespan?

If the crystal has been removed properly and they have lived past their normal lifespan, then they will die. If they have not lived past their lifespan and have it removed properly, it should be fine.

If the crystal has been removed improperly or shattered, they will either immediately die, or they will transform into a monster.

Be more specific. What's "enhancing one's physical capabilities" include? Like, do they just punch harder or what?

A bit more strength than the average, as well as heightened sight, and hearing. He is also able to use 'flight' due to it.

That stuff's important! Flying is a big deal! Ugh, that needs to be written down, why didn't you do that in the first place?

It was written on his profile he knew how to fly. But I do see your point.

[ He supposes they didn't know what caused the abilities.

He doesn't say why, because. Well. There's no good reason for it. ]

Exhibit D - Scratch Marks

When Faize and I were investigating the bodies, Zelos bore scratch marks on his collar bone and shoulders, while Youko had blood and skin beneath her fingernails. We believe they may have fought prior to their deaths.
