seven vices case 1 trial, day 2 ♫ sunday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. Yes, unless they were trying to cover up that he'd been at the bonfire and were hoping the fire would completely get rid of everything they threw in it, I don't know what the scissors could be used for. Unless they were used to cut open the bag of cough drops or use the medications?

But...okay. Basically, we know he was burnt at the bonfire. Right? Hanyuu seems to be pushing the idea the burns were from those...energy-whatevers. But that can't be the case, can it?

So it turns out the energy bullets can scorch stuff? But probably not enough to burn an entire hat.

What I don't get is why bother burning the hat at all. What were they trying to hide? It's just a stupid hat!

He might have fallen into the bonfire while wearing the hat. They took it off him to make sure his head wouldn't get burnt up and threw it to the fire to finish burning.

If he'd fallen into the bonfire, he probably would have wound up getting burns on more than just his hat and a bit of his hair though.

Yeah, I really don't get it either. It's not like it was the key to figuring out who the victim was, or anything.

The only reason to burn it would be to get rid of something that ties it to the killer - or, well, we were assuming.....it fell off when his head got burnt? Was that not still a thing?

...if it'd gotten scorched from an energy bullet, that'd be a pretty good reason to burn it. There's a lot of people here who can fly, but not a lot with fire magic.

If it was scorched a little bit... wouldn't you want to destroy it as much as possible to hide the evidence?

If she scorched the hat, she could have thrown it in the fire to hide the evidence, I suppose. And it would explain why only the back of his head is scorched a little.

Or he could have fallen into the fire briefly because whomever did the deed was too weak to carry him properly.

It'd have to be really brief, though, wouldn't it? Only his hair got a little scorched, nothing else.

Indeed. Although the hat may have protected him very briefly, and was torn off to prevent further damage.

But why fire the blast in the first place? If she was aiming at his head, it might have been to knock him unconscious, but that would make the needles superfluous, wouldn't it?

Unless the needles were just to draw attention away from the blast, just like burning the damn hat.

Wh-What if Houraisan-san was impeded by the time distortion? Why were there so many needlemarks in Takao-san's back? With both morphine and benadryl, he would have gone to sleep very quickly!

Maybe she didn't want him to suffer a long death... so she let him sleep.

The energy bullets just felt like being punched. It's definitely not enough to kill someone, and I'm not sure it's enough to even knock them unconscious. [Though granted, this is Undyne saying that, so...]
