week 1 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 1 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 5PM, the trial will close, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

...huh. That would explain why he'd be out so late then.

[narrowing her eyes] Hey, what material are the bathing suits here made of?

I dunno. We can ask Miata, but I know there was a swimsuit drying in Hanyuu's bathroom. It still felt wet too - not sure if it still would be after a whole night though.

If it's not torn then the fabric probably didn't come from hers...but what if she could have gotten hold of another one? Or maybe one of the other suspects is missing theirs.

'Tis possible she wet it again on purpose to explicate her alibi. If it is wet, we are more inclined to believe she did, in fact, go for a swim; she may have admitted to being at the pool that night due to its public nature. Any of us could pass by and see her there, so to admit it would cast suspicion away from her, turning her attempts to douse the boy's head into a harmless, meditative venture.

If it is made of polyester, it could explain that scrap of fabric we found. I dunno what else here's made of that junk. But it still wouldn't explain where it actually came from, not unless we missed a hole in someone's swimsuit.

I just asked Miata and she told me the swimsuits aren't made of polyester.

Lithuania and I were talking before about the fabric. We think it may not be a piece torn off, but a piece of what remains from something that fell in and burnt up.

Dammit, I thought we might have been on to something there! [WHY IS PUZZLE SOLVING SO HARD]

Are any of the suspects missing clothing? Or Takao?
