week 1 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 1 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 5PM, the trial will close, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

... I did not see any blood anywhere else, did you? If it was indeed his head wound that bled, and if that was struck elsewhere, we should have found traces somewhere, one would think.

Yeah, I agree. If he were being carried around bleeding...

[ it'd be more of a mess. ]

Which means that that wound, at least, was created at the scene.

The others... could have been anywhere even so.

Yeah, the rest of it...isn't as well tied to one location. Unfortunately.

The head wound could have been when he was dropped or shoved off the roof, but I'm talking about when he was drugged. If the reason why there aren't any footprints leading anywhere is 'cuz the killer flew off with him, then I'm guessing he had to have been drugged first or else he would have been struggling and screaming the whole time.

[....]

Ah, I see.

[There's some puzzled bemusement as she thinks that over, because "then the killer flew off with him" is still a strange murder mystery to her.]

It could very well be--it has been mentioned before that the drugs would not have taken long to take effect, if I recall correctly. I still do not entirely understand why you would go through the trouble, though... I suppose that seemed like the most logical option to the killer.

[If you've got him drugged, why.... then decide to drop him off the roof??? You could do anything at that point.]

It's 'cause the killer's a JERK who wants to make this as confusing as possible to mess with us! [GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF STRAIGHTFORWARD MURDER...]

So then we gotta figure out where he was drugged, yeah? If it wasn't in someone's room, then it's kinda weird that no one saw someone carrying him around unless it was super late at night.
