week 1 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 1 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? victim suspects         cast setting rulebook

Do you think maybe they just got impatient when they started injecting him a ton and freaked out when it felt like it was taking so long so they bashed his head in?

I'm not even a suspect, and I can't shake this feeling of dread, you know? Whoever killed Takao... they must have thought they had no other choice. Imagining what kind of punishment is waiting for them...

[He just shakes his head and rubs the bridge of his nose, trying to ward off a headache.]

I suppose under the circumstances of the week it's possible they got nervous at how long things seemed to be taking. I just feel like more of the pieces should fit together logically.

But like. Something I really don't get is why they tried to burn things like scissors, but wanted people to find the drugs.

Although I guess even trying to burn scissors was dumb because scissors don't burn?

Mmn... Let's take it from the top. [Lithuania ticks off points on her fingers as she speaks.] As of when I found it at nine in the morning, Takao was dead for at least six hours. Blood from the head wound was frozen. Neck clearly broken, head injury broke the skull. Takao's own footprints are in the area, some of which are only half made. The snow on the roof is disturbed near where the corpse ended up on the ground. He has puncture marks on his back that went through his clothes, though it's not immediately obvious at first. He's also broken many bones. The hair on the back of his head is slightly scorched. He has cough drops on his person.

Morphine was found in the laundry room, and benadryl in the refrigerator in the kitchen. Both have been used. In the bonfire, there were burned scissors, a piece of blue polyester fabric, and some plastic. Latex gloves and one syringe are unaccounted for.

[Poland props her head up in her hands, smiling. Poland knows she's kind of... well. Selfish-esque? Sometimes, so.

Hah, I'm sure there's some people who would just kill for the sake of killing, here, [Vegeta, Undyne...] But... for most people?

[He just shrugs and lets his hands rest on his knees, squeezing his hands into fists.]

I just... It's hard to imagine what was going through someone's head, but it must have seemed really, really important. And it's something we won't understand until everything comes to light in the trial, when it's too late to try to reach an understanding. When all we can do, after fighting desperately to find the truth, is just... watch what happens.

I know murdering is wrong and stuff but-- I mean really wrong. But... other things are wrong too? [She can understand trying to justify killing for a lot of reasons.]

Like this whole situation isn't something anyone should really have to deal with, but I guess we kind of have to. For now anyways.

So let's just keep going as long as we can go, til we can figure out something else better.

I don't mind. [He really hadn't intended on sleeping yet, or going up to his room.] Are you... done working on this? We could go now.

[ She can't refute because he's not wrong. And because he's not wrong, she can't help but grit her teeth, clicking her tongue before chewing on her thumb nail, anxious. Force of habit. ]

I know that, but still! I can't just accept it. I'll still do it, but it won't piss me off any less. It's just one hellhole to the next.

[SOMEONE HERE'S SHOOTING FOR THE STARS...]

Just be careful, anyway. We don't know if we can trust them to keep their word. [About immunity, that is. Even if they seem very rule-abiding for a bunch of crazy kidnappers conducting a game of murder, they're still a bunch of crazy kidnappers conducting a game of murder.

As for the question, there's a brief pause and then a nod.]

...But I guess there isn't really another option. What about you?

Even as a princess, I'm very low in the succession line, and in matters of battles, I have to take orders from the generals.

I've been trying to cooperate with others from the Rolance Empire, though, to see if our combined efforts can put an end to this.

I just can't help but feel like... if we could all get to know each other better, we'd have a better shot at... preventing something like this from happening again. Like maybe... if the culprit had just talked to someone during the week instead of feeling alone, maybe... they wouldn't have done what they did.

[He rubs his eyes with his hands and shakes his head again.]

Maybe that's just wishful thinking, though. We're not going to know anything until tomorrow.

[ This time since the likely candidate for killer isn't a human though, he can't very well make much of a comment on it. ]

Well, if Vegeta couldn't blow through it, I think I'll be okay for now.

[Ugh... the mention of Vegeta just leaves him shaking his head, because now he's seriously thinking about the suspects and voting and-- let him go home? He just wants to go to school.]

As ready as any of us can be, I think. I just... hope we've found enough evidence to be able to put the pieces together and find the true culprit. There's no real easy way out of this.

Why Takao, do you think...?

[HONESTLY Hinata's grateful for his immunity because with how similar he seems to the basketball player?? It could have easily been him!!]

So they had to know something about how drugs react-- and how to administer those drugs.

And they had to be able to get on the roof without disturbing much snow. Somehow. Unless there's a really simple way to get on the roof that we're totally missing.

And. Is it completely apparent that gravity broke him into pieces or could he have been ambushed and really pummeled?

I still don't get the fire. Or the laundry room. Or the fridge.

A lot of people were having a hard time this week so maybe someone.... ( Someone did just that. Picked a normal human kid with no special power to defend himself with. A nice one, at that too. ) I don't think they would have if things were normal, though.
