seven vices week 1 ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by a calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. Curiously, anyone who has spoken with Miata for any period of time during the past week will notice that the voice coming from the television and her own do not match up. Come Tuesday, the footsteps around the void will begin drifting away from it. The pitter-patter of feet can be heard when standing outside the clinic and chapel as well. On top of the food that was added to the kitchen last week, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is now available. You're welcome, Papyrus. >Mingle? [Begin ridiculous cupcake chess! Lithuania's style is the same as always--often defensive with a good eye for strategy. She's good at thinking several moves ahead and making sure Poland never actually takes a piece without having to give something up (ideally something more valuable). She's only actually eaten two and a half captured cupcakes, though--even if it feels like a lot longer, her body is not prepared to eat that much sugar that quickly.]

[That is the most satisfying snowball impact noise, yes, except then he just looks super dumbfounded and it's almost sad? The pathetic kind of sad. There's been a lot of that this week/month/decade.]

...Iiiit's a snowball. Like. You know. [She waves the other snowball in her hand around.] It was a joke. [Kind of. Ish.] Because...you were being annoying. So I... [Maybe if she...gestures with the snowball some more???] Do snowballs confuse you that much?

[Poland plays the same way she always plays-- completely erratically. An over all strategy isn't really very apparent, but that just lends her moves to hard to predict spontaneity.

As for captured cupcakes, Poland's content to leisurely chew on them for the duration of the game. If there's fruits on them that doesn't make them overly bad for you-- this game has been going on for a long time anyways!]

[Eventually Poland starts to find herself having a harder time trying to get out of increasingly tougher spots though.]

[Poland has always been difficult to predict, but with chess, that's not something you can keep up. Lithuania can maintain her defensive perimeter while narrowing Poland's means of escape. She's being very ruthless in cutting off more and more options for Poland.]

They don't confuse me. More like...I've never needed to resort to such primitive methods of attack before! But that's delightful! So you, what...just...make snow into a ball?

[Seems straightforward enough! Enough for him to bend over to try and make his own at least.]

[This one takes a little longer. Probably because of some kind of language barrier conversion taking place since Faize doesn't actually speak a lick of English and this is 100% wordplay.]

[Lithuania, meanwhile, is looking quite pleased.] Yes?

[ He waves his hand a little at the smoke and there's a bit of a draft? Maybe someone left the doors open. Who knows. But the smoke is not crowding too much of his space, and he's taking his time to leave as he's making his way along the same route as Clover has. ]

How pathetic that you can only resort to such childish insults in return.

[ Why is it taking forever. As soon as he leaves this kitchen he is getting out of her presence-- tis is a mental note. ]

Right again! Alright, let's see if you can get this one. A town only has one barber, who's a male. The barber only shaves all of the people who do not shave themselves. So who shaves the barber?

[Is he seriously this excited about it? She takes a step back but not too far; she's ready to take this hit, like, she started this, and look at how hyped he is.] Yeah, uh, you got the idea there.

Wh-- [Lithuania turns to look at the clock, but only for an instant before she realizes what Poland is actually trying to do. Still, it feels like a very long instant as she whirls back to face Poland.]

A game? So then you're not looking to hurt the other person?

[Not that the snowball impact was all that painful but that seems like what it'd be for. Could you imagine putting like...a rock in the middle of this snow? Much more effective.

Luckily there is no rock in the snowball he throws at Clover after taking careful aim. It's not the best toss in the world though...]

It's my birthday, you know. [Lithuania is just going to slide Poland's cupcake back to where it was and take one of the captured ones to replace the one that's obviously in Poland's mouth.]

Poland moves the only way she really can move her piece, because she'd never ever just admit she should probably just surrender when she has no other moves left.
