week 8 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 8 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? victim   suspects      cast setting rulebook

[Faize did not fair nearly so well because he was DEFINITELY inside that 2x2 square.]

[It's hard to tell if it was because the plate of spaghetti hit him right in the face, or if it was because Faize is just easily-startled, but either way, the Eldarian staggers backwards a few steps and falls flat on his ass as he tornado collapses. This is what is curiosity and self-hatred gets him, apparently: covered in socks and spaghetti. On the bright side, at least he kept hold of that piece of paper! And once he gets over the shock of having a tratsh tornado collapse on him, he'll probably take a look at it. Though he's willing to bet there is absolutely nothing important on it whatsoever.]

[Poland doesn't usually get embarrassed. But she is embarrassed about a whole host of things after today.]

I do not think going from eating in excess to nothing will help. Perhaps if you did it more in moderation, it could.

[ Poland. You are the only one he's ever seen that eats so much. Yoite comes close, but you still outmatch him. ]

[ Break scoffs at Undyne's first attempt, since as if that's true, but he at least waits patiently for her to get to the real thing. His smile starts out just as warm and distantly amused, but as Undyne keeps reading, it also grows warmer and softer, though there's a definite twinge of regret in his expression.

Just what that regret may be at is harder to guess, since it's definitely not something he wants to elaborate on. Getting these kind of warm words at all is far more than he expected, after all. It's just simply a part of the way that Break thinks and interacts with people that the idea that people would like him enough to leave behind a letter is surprising.

(And of course, there's no small part of him that feels like he doesn't deserve such a thing.)

Though luckily those depressing thoughts are kept to himself. Undyne would dismiss them anyways, but even so, it's the sort of sentiment that he really doesn't like to share in the first place. He nods once Undyne finishes, and even though it's not as if Clover is the one telling him this herself, he still feels like he should respond to it all the same. It feels like the least he can do for such a kind gesture. ]

...I'll at least try. [ Which could be to stopping Undyne from setting things on fire, or it could be a returned sentiment to "good luck." Either way, he sighs, then recollects himself. He does hold out his hand for the letter, since surprisingly, he'd like to keep it. ]

Is there anything else?

[ A spoon hits him. ]

I... I apologize--

[ He puts up his hands just in case she throws anything else. ]

Perhaps you should just keep eating the way you usually do...instead of eating nothing. That will still be more preferable.

[Oh my god dude. Hinata bursts out laughing because not only is the sight of Faize getting hit in the face with spaghetti hilarious by itself, he also fell over and had a bunch of socks fall on him, too.]

F-Faize, are you okay?! [He chokes out, still laughing. What a good bro he is.]

[ A shrug. ] I'm not that picky.

A lot less done? In regard to the trial, you mean?

I'm sure we'll find more information tomorrow. We've had slow starts before.

[Such a good bro...whatever would Faize do without him? Faize raises his free hand to his face to wipe some of the spaghetti off. Ugh. UGH. He's so done. Just. So done with all this.]

I am fine. [Hey, let's see what's on this paper that was just so imp-- it's garbage. Actual fucking garbage. Faize tosses it aside, looking even more Completely Done than he was a few seconds ago. He plucks a sock off his shoulder and brushes another one free from where it got caught on his ear. Hinata, are you going to help him here or just stand there laughing for another ten minutes, I mean it's whatever, dude.]

[Ugh, fine, he'll help you up, you baby. He comes closer and offers the other boy a hand if he'll take it.]

I guess we've learned that no matter which skeleton's room it is, it's going to be a disaster.

[It finally happened. Somebody actually helped Faize up after he fell down. Bless your beautiful soul, Hinata, you continue to be a better friend then all of the Calnus crew combined. Faize takes his hand gratefully, getting to his feet. There's...there's still spaghetti noodles on his face. And pasta sauce. Also a sock on top of his head. But he's smiling a little because Hinata's laughter is infectious, even if it's aimed at him.]

Yes, I suppose we have...

[Even if this proves nothing with regards to the trial...]

[She takes the letter when offered and immediately opens to read it.

After a moment of stark silence, hands gently crumpling up the sides of the letter as she clutches it, she folds it up and nods.]

If you feel like that then why can't you just say something like, Oh sweet precious Poland! You're perfect just the way you are! Don't change a bit!
