week 8 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 8 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? victim   suspects      cast setting rulebook

Once they walk in, they'll notice instantly everything is clean. It... looks like the floors, etc. may be even so clean if one leaned close to it you could see your reflection in it. Maybe. There's a pile of papers neatly stacked in a corner, whereupon one can see a very, very long list of mathematical deductions.

Everything, is of course neatly arranged to complete perfection, if possible.

Do you dare venture into the Demon King's room any further to investigate something in particular? Watch your step... you never know what could be lurking. ]

And that's it. That's the joke. Somehow Ranulf has partnered up with the wild beast that devoured Poland's bra stuffing and is going to search Yoite's room. He has no idea what will happen here but, hey, if anybody can communicate and understand the dog it's probably him.

He takes note of anything outside the door first and then walks in. OKAY. What is he seeing/smelling and does he have to stop the dog from eating something on the ground? ]

[Hinata literally has no idea what he's going to be getting himself into... Sans seems to be the more reasonable of the two skeletons? And odds are if he was really staying in Undyne's room so long, there's no going to be much to see.]

I was going to say we should keep an eye out for glitter, but I kind of think being around Undyne and Clover all the time probably isn't going to do us any good.

[He is going to check the doorknob and door frame, though, because even if he knows rooms can't be broken into, it doesn't hurt to check.]

[ There's nothing outside/on the door, it's completely ordinary.

When they step inside one thing Ranulf might notice is that the room looks very clean and tidy. There's nothing amiss on the floors, it almost looks like a stock room-- like Yoite hasn't bothered to try to personalize it at all.

The two beds are made perfectly too, so they'll be nice and comfortable for the annoying dog to mess up.]

[Lithuania is glad to see a clean room, honestly. Lithuania will head to the beds--pulling off all the blankets and sheets, overturning the mattresses, and checking under and around the beds. She'll check the nightstand, too--in, on, under, and behind it.

Then she'll remake the beds. Hospital corners included--don't worry, she won't leave a mess.]

[Faize is just following as usual, waiting for Hinata to finish his inspection of the doorknob and frame even though he's certain nothing will come of it and they'll just end up going inside. To what will surely be the most uneventful room search ever because Sans is the chillest guy out of all of them here, right?]

Likely not, no. I would be more surprised if we found no glitter at all, to be honest.

As for the closet...

There's just a bunch of clothing with capes, probably. There are also nuts in the pockets. It's possible Dhaos did this purposely at one point or he might just have had a resident troll hanging around here. Who knows.

Although in one set of clothing there is a piece of paper. Read it?

For Lithuania, there is nothing in the beds or anything. For the nightstand, there is a crumpled piece of paper stuffed underneath. ]

Nothing for it but to head in, then! Just going to use Sans' key on the lock and push it open. What are they greeted with upon entering?]

[ Ranulf watches the dog bound off for a nap. ] Can someone tell me how this this ended up happening? [ He looks at the ceiling, rubs the back of his head, and briefly wonders when his luck took a turn for the weird rather than the bad.

Also, he's very grateful that Yoite's room is tidy. Every time he enters these rooms he expects another faceful of Vegeta musk and is pleasantly relieved when it isn't the case. Sorry, Vegeta. Sweat might be something he's used to smelling but it doesn't mean he likes it. And Vegeta is the person who he attributes to sweat here, apparently.

At first glance there isn't anything on the beds so he leaves them to the dog. Ranulf begins his search at the closet. Any glittery clothes, clothes that smell like Clover, or nefarious things in this closet, Yoite? ]
