week 7 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |

If you don't want to lose me as a friend, you should just trust me as your friend.

[Breathe, Hinata. Breathe. He takes another breath, swallowing hard and doing his best to choke down the tears that really want to come. But-- wait for it-- okay. His eyes are still wet, but he can open them without tears spilling down his face. He's fine? He's fine.]
...I do trust you, Poland, I'm just...
[He hangs his head. It's going to come out tomorrow anyway, isn't it? So... the more people he disappoints tonight, the fewer people he'll have left to disappoint tomorrow.]
I-if you really want to know... it's in my room. The folder.

[She'll take his hand.]
Come on.

[He takes her hand without much hesitation, though he does hesitate before starting to walk. And he hesitates again when it's time to unlock his room, though not necessarily because of the motive. Because it's the last place he, Roxy, Faize, and Alisha were all together.
But he unlocks it, prepared to view the devastation left by the room search team, and moves to his dresser. Looks like the folder is still hidden in his clothes, thanks Inaba. Without opening it or looking at Poland, he just hands it back to her, shoulders stiff as if waiting for judgement.]

She reads the initial documentation from Hope's Peak with a noticeable frown.]
...
Seriously? [If this weren't crucial evidence, she'd burn it right now.]
This is garbage, don't-- who are they anyways?
no subject
[maybe he should have explained... he still can't quite look at her, though.]
The most prestigious high school in Japan. I thought, if I could go there... if I was a Super High School Level, I could finally... be someone I could be proud of. You know? Instead of just... someone ordinary.
[He doesn't seem to have noticed Faize's note yet, though.]

Did you read the attached amendment?
[She'll offer it to him. This is far more accurate in her opinion.]
This person seems to know what they're talking about.

[That's right, Inaba had said there was a note... He glances toward Poland, still with his shoulders kind of hunched as if expecting her to yell at him, or be disappointed with the revelation that's in his file. But he'll take the note, brow furrowed as he looks it over.]
...Ah?
[Ah. Ah. Oh no what is that feeling. It's like someone punched him? That's definitely what it feels like, because all of a sudden there's tears pricking in his eyes again as his fingers clutch the paper of the note.]
...
[Ah, he's going to cry... amazing...]

[Poland will scribble something at the bottom of the amendment.]
The Republic of Poland absolutely 100% likes Hinata Hajime.

[Just going to look at that amendment, too, and press his lips tightly together. Why do all these people care about him so much when he is quite literally skills: none? He doesn't get it, and it's obvious from the way his eyes are still shiny-wet from reading Faize's note.]
I...
[Ugh. He's going to rub roughly at his eyes with his free hand, taking a deep, shuddering breath. He normally launches into something along the lines of "wanting to be somebody important," but he can't manage that just now, not without both Poland and Faize's words right there in front of him.]
