week 7 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 7 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. [ His expression at least softens at the offer, though it's still much more subdued than Break's usual sorts of expressions. He sighs, then starts to at least put what he's gathered so far away. He'd rather eat cake... ]

Please. I can't ever turn down sweets.

[sobowtor]

Who can?

[Poland will locate the half eaten polish apple cake she has stashed in the kitchen and plate it for Break.]

It's my recipe. [That she was going to give to Gilbert next.] If you don't like it though I could make more popcorn balls. Or something else.

[crazily]

[ Once he hears her start to plate it, he'll go sit at the table. He nods along a bit absently, but he doesn't actually start eating right away, just twirls the fork idly in his had briefly. He seems to want to say something, but it takes him a few moments to actually get to it. ]

...Thank you for offering to read the letters, by the way.

[sobowtor]

You don't have to thank me for that.

[How silly of her to think that Gilbert wouldn't have spent time worrying about how he'd get a private and legible letter to Break in the event something happened to him!]

You're welcome though.

[crazily]

[ He starts to eat the cake after that, and it at least gets him to smile, albeit softly. He'll eat it in silence for a few moments, but he does end up asking something sentimental after all for all his harsh words earlier. ]

The pages you tore out... [ He definitely heard ] Were they more drawings?

[sobowtor]

Yeah.

[Poland props her head up with her hands, resting her elbows on the table.]

Urashima and his turtle together, then another one of Rhys... some lady.

They were really nice, I didn't realize he was artistic. I thought Urashima and Rhys would take care of them.

[crazily]

[ He nods, though there's a pause before he answers just because he's taking another bite of the cake. Though after he does, he laughs and shrugs. ]

He has a surprising talent for it. It's not something he does often, but it fits his appearance, doesn't it?

[ He's got the Darcy look going on even if he's actually lame ]

[sobowtor]

[tbf mr. darcy had his own special brand of lame too.

Poland imagines this tall awkward sensitive guy folding little turtles out of paper and sketching in a note pad... oh Gilbert.]

Wow. [She laughs.] Even I can see why he had like thirty marriage proposals.

[crazily]

[ He laughs a little more cheerfully, and he nods in agreement. ]

Ahh, yes. Gilbert has always been very popular with women because of his looks and what his personality seems to be, but he's completely hopeless. He looks sullen and gloomy when he's in public because he's usually trying his best not to cry, pass out, or both.

[ legit ]

You know, the last time he received a large amount of proposals, he gave me the task of taking care of that problem.

[ He's leading into a story here, but you can tell that this was a bad decision on Gilbert's part already. ]

[sobowtor]

He's just shy. [Poland understands Gilbert's social problems very well.]

He mentioned that briefly actually but~ [Poland wants to hear the story Break please please.]

[crazily]

Well. As it would happen, Gilbert was very frustrated with all of this, because "shy" truly doesn't even begin to cover it. He's an absolute mess. So with so many letters of courtship and marriage proposals, he was so flustered and frustrated that he just gave the task to me to sort out for him.

[ A dramatic pause for effect ]

So I simply wrote a letter as if I were Gilbert responding to one of these confessions. But I also intentionally included another lady's name in the romantic reply as if he had mistakenly sent it to the wrong person. He has a bit of a reputation as a cad now, but it doesn't seemed to have stopped them. Actually, I wonder if it only increased it...
