week 7 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |

[ astrid, that's rude af ]
...I mean. ...I guess it can, and you don't know me well enough to know it won't, for me.
no subject
What, is it that surprising? Though are you surprised at the honor or the warrior part? That definitely changed how offended I should be.
no subject
[ LIKE. ALL THE TIME. ]
I never doubted the warrior part. You get around too well for someone who can't see to be anything else.

Well, you're not wrong. It's definitely because of my skills for fighting that blindness hasn't been quite as bad for me as it could have been.
[ Break had been reluctant to reveal it before, but at this point... He doesn't actually feel that it matters. ]
I was once a knight of a noble household. I lived by honor with the blade, and I had my whole life. It was my family's profession, more or less. As soon as I was old enough to hold a blade, I was trained to be a knight.

[ He says it very simply, which considering the laughing a moment ago, is actually a pretty somber turn. ]
My master was killed, and that's why I wanted to change the past.
no subject
Changing the past isn't a thing people can do.

[ Break is getting fairly tired of explaining this story, but that's just because it's a hard one for him to relay. At least with this week's events, he's much more detached as he explains instead of the much more heated shouting of when Cheshire had brought it up. ]
Technically, it's not possible for "people" where I'm from either. But if you listen to a demon whispering in your ear, then they can. Or at least, they can lead you down to the person who can.
[ He shrugs ]
I changed the past, but it didn't end up mattering in the end. It made things far worse than simply accepting what had happened. But that with my own pride, honestly.

[ MOVING...ON... ]
Do you think Gilbert got beat before or after we lost all the lights?
no subject
After. Considering Rhys's explanation about how it works, if Alisha was shocked first, then the lights would go out, and Gilbert would have reason to investigate quite immediately. It's very easy for me to imagine that scenario. On the other hand, trying to picture a scenario where Gilbert was beaten and then Alisha is... Well, it is not harder, but it involved much more guesswork, I'd say.

[ But he still doesn't like it, of course. He sighs rather heavily, then shakes his head. ]
I do at least agree that Gilbert's portion may have been unexpected. The more I think on it, the more it fits with the gruesome nature of the rest. At least, minus the placement of the head. But even the beheading itself is... fitting, unfortunately.

[ gilbert you moron ]

[ Yeah, he's including Gilbert here because god dammit ]
