week 7 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 7 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. I didn't rule out. Um. [Poland clears her throat looking stressed. She didn't rule out Hinata. Alisha got out of the room without any of the three of them noticing. Hinata could have gotten out too.

She can't figure out how to make her mouth say this though.] Well.

There's another person it could have been if Undyne and Rhys have reliable alibis.

Yeah, he could have left the room, but I kinda doubt he could do all...this.

[Poland is neither confirming nor denying that the third person is Hinata.]

I. Well. Rhys is also sort of in that same camp. I think. There would probably most definitely be some sort of puke somewhere if he decapitated Gilbert.

[brawlhalla]

[ She shrugs, unconvinced. ]

Undyne and I are the only real fighters on the list, and I don't buy her doing this any more than I would. But he has a metal arm or whatever, so Rhys is strong enough to sort of qualify. And the electricity thing.

It's not like we know enough to say it's definitely so-and-so, but considering how we keep ruling out everyone or coming down to Sadie and I just because we don't like to have slumber parties, I'm kind of concerned about a misvote, here.

We're not voting yet! [The real reason Poland brought this up.

She didn't want this brought up at the last minute and have you three scrambling for a defense.

Start proving yourselves innocent children. She likes all three of you.]

We're going to tomorrow, though, so I really hope we figure out the details sooner rather than later. Dying as a scapegoat by execution is not a one-way ticket to Valhalla.

Right. Tomorrow. And by tomorrow you will totally prove that you definitely didn't do it because you have no understanding of electricity along with numerous other things that totally rule you out.

[brawlhalla]

I can't do anything to make people believe the truth. It isn't like that worked for Morrigan.

[ Astrid crosses her arms, frowning. ]

I'm not going to pretend like it's certain I'll get off just because I'm innocent. So, I can't exactly pretend to be cheerful about this. Sorry. If whoever the Hel did this gets off completely free because we're wrong in the end, and we can't make them pay in full for this? I don't want that to happen. It's bad enough it's happened once.

Um of course you can. If you didn't do it there's totally a way to prove it.

[ASTRID! Ugh god this isn't working. Poland can't figure things out like this anyways, she needs her blunt honesty.]

I'm trying to tell you that yeah you look kind of suspicious and if you don't want to get executed for something you didn't do you need more than well Break's blind so his accounting of cyborg-o doesn't count.

I'm not sure how to prove I didn't do something I didn't do beyond pointing out things that might be wrong elsewhere, okay? I don't have an alibi, I only ever spend nights with Stormfly. But I would never harm someone who called me a friend. And I'd never do anything this...dishonorable.

[ She frowns. ]

I don't want to retire, and my motive sure as Hel wasn't worth this.

I'm gonna second that. I saw your motive, I'm doubtin' you'd be dumb enough to kill over it.

[ assuming room searches were before this right ]

Look, I'd get teased about it for the rest of my life, but it's not worth killing people over, holy shit.
