week 7 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 7 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. [Lithuania nods.] I believe I would have seen evidence of teeth or claws if there was some, but it's important to note the possibility. I suppose with the chains she could have pulled on them, but I still believe you're unlikely as the culprit.

Yeah, it's...really not the style of either of us from Pride.

[ ALSO, SHE'S PRETTY SURE UNDYNE'S MOTIVE IS AS DUMB AS HERS, but so far all the motives she's heard are dumb. ]

There'd be wear on the chains from her claws, if that were the case, too.

A lot of the motives I've seen from the suspects don't seem worth killing over. [Body pillows and stuff...] I know that you can never be sure what might motivate someone to kill, but, honestly...

Mine...says exactly what it is, so there's no interpretation needed. I'm not sure what everyone else's was - but I heard Undyne's, and that also sounds...

What were the others we've found out?

Rhys's involves--large pillows with someone on it... [Body pillows?] Sa--Charlotte's was a photo of a woman she liked who she accidentally got murdered, which might fit, but it's a woman I also saw in the video of the motive to change a past mistake, so you'd think if she was going to kill over it she would kill to actually get her back. Hinata's--I don't really understand, exactly. Something about his school file?

So...none of our motives seem particularly motive-y.

Unless we consider that the killer is apparently insane.

This sort of murder certainly isn't the first type that would come to mind for anyone who's a suspect this week, at least. [So, yeah, maybe someone is just secretly totally nuts.]

Maybe we should consider the idea of the motive being incidental? If you kill and get away with it, you retire from the proceedings. That could be a motive all on its own.

That's...actually a really good point. Being immune from this bullshit on the regular is a better motive than most of our motives.

[ TBH...astrid has never been impressed by the motives. ]

Mmhmm. I think it should always be considered as an option, but here, especially, it doesn't seem like the motive provided this week was especially compelling so far.

I...really hate the idea of retiring, honestly. [ LIKE, TBH, THAT'S WHY SHE DOESN'T CONSIDER IT. ] Or murdering for someone's entertainment - or whatever game those dream-idiots are playing with us - but retiring? You're deliberately taking down at least two people in the game, just to keep out of it.

[ just...try to stay alive by your own merits and wits without murdering people, ok ]

I agree, but I suppose I have enough experience handling myself in dangerous situations that maybe it's different for the more vulnerable here. [She has a wolf dog and a sword and a thousand years of experience and a BFF here.]
