week 7 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 7 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

I know you can only take my word for it, but... there's no way I could create something like that. I don't know very much about building machines at all.

[If someone weren't so noble and were bringing his file back, we'd know that. OBSCURING EVIDENCE INABA (fuu)]

Like... would you have to use a rope? Maybe tied... around his neck...?

[He's starting to look vaguely ill just trying to picture it.]

The chains could have been involved. The blood would have washed off in the pool, so it would be hard to tell.
hopefragment: (here's the thing about when what's new *)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-04-03 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
But then... that still leaves the question of what the chains could have been attached to to achieve that effect. There's no cars or...

A door slamming closed wouldn't be enough for that, right? There's no way, the... the neck would definitely break from that, not take the whole head off, right?

Half of it was messily cut, so I suppose they had a head start there. [Pun completely unintended. She doesn't seem to notice it at all.]
hopefragment: ((unsure))

[Ah... he heard that pun and winces. Lithuania...]

I... guess. We didn't find anything that could have been used to cut, though, did we? Why not just... make a clean cut instead of... ripping it...?

[ugh Gilbert why did this happen to you... why is Hinata going to have to suffer these deathshocks...]
herbgrace: (I'm doing fine)

Maybe they couldn't? It's difficult to cut through bone, especially if it wasn't with a proper weapon. I could take someone's head off with my sword, but I've had training and a sword is very different from a lot of the blades you could grab just by chance here.

According to Dhaos, half of the cut was clean, right? So if they cut partly through his neck and...hung him up and chained Alisha's body to his lower half or something like that, the weight of it could have...pulled him apart....

[Ugh. There are very few things that make Undyne squeamish, but she's definitely looking horrified at the idea.] Oh, I'm gonna rip the murderer's head off and feed it to them. Let's see how much they like it!

[ Not going to agree or disagree with any of that, however: ]

Please don't actually rip the murderer's head off.

Fine, but only because they deserve a way more painful death than that. [UGH STOP RUINING HER FUN]

[ Look she doesn't want Undyne dead too??? ]

They certainly do. Assholes.

Something like that. I think the chains are most likely what was used to rip the rest of his head off, unless we find evidence of something else.

I don't get why though. I mean yeah, obviously this week's killer is incredibly fucked up, but that sounds like way too much effort even just to be an evil jerk.
