week 5 - day 2 trial

seven vices case 5 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

[ONE MEMBER OF SQUAD GRANDPA REAPPEARS to be asschafed that Cheshire possibly tried to blow him up what the heck--

Or just to nod in agreement.]

I think that's pretty likely, especially since that part seems less planned out than anything else.

[Gilbert's fear of cats grows ever stronger!!]

Then maybe when the killer tampered with the stove, it got grease everywhere somehow and they used the scarf to wipe it up so Cheshire wouldn't notice the next morning. Though uh...I don't really know what they would have done to tamper with his trap. I blow up stoves all the time without ever needing to fiddle with them! [THIS IS A POINT OF PRIDE OKAY]

[This exercise in desensitization backfired horribly!!]

Undyne... [STOP. JUST STOP. A sigh, and then:] I don't know how they could have tampered with it either, though. It was just a gas leak explosion, right?

If it was just that though, there's no reason why Cheshire would have been caught by an explosion he set up himself unless he was really stupid or really suicidal. You knew him from back home, did he strike you as either of those? [yes because Gilbert is surely the most unbiased source for this...]

[GILBERT IS DEFINITELY THE MOST UNBIASED SOURCE.]

Well, he didn't seem even remotely suicidal. [.....Yeah that's about all he's got.]

To be honest, this method doesn't seem like something he would use, either. It's... pretty complex, isn't it?

Yeah, I'm starting to think that the real killer came up with most of the plot and just used Cheshire as a pawn from the start. I mean, if he's dumb enough to blow himself up, then he's probably dumb enough to not notice he's being manipulated and just follow whatever they tell him to do! [Normally she has a little more sympathy for the victims, but not when they were planning to murder someone too. Especially not her personal chef source of entertainment bully toy good friend Gilbert!!]

[wow undyne good to know he's become such an irreplaceable person... in your life...

BUT, nodding along at that.]

I think that's the most likely scenario. Something like this... I don't think he would have come up with it on his own.

So then which suspect do you think would have the biggest chance of convincing Cheshire to go along with their plan? I'd say Satori, but she seems pretty passionate about never backstabbing an animal...

Right... I could see Satori working with Cheshire, but not if it put him directly in danger like that. If she was an accomplice, then the explosion would have been an accident.
