week 5 - day 2 trial

seven vices case 5 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

So maybe we're looking for someone who tampered with the trap?

Then perhaps the scarf wasn't to hide evidence that it was used at all, but to stop Cheshire from being suspicious that the trap had been tampered with? If it succeeded, it wouldn't have to be hidden for very long, or at all.

Cheshire...cut the pipe. There was a hole in it, right? Could the scarf have been used to cover it? It was greasy, but I don't know if that could be the result of covering a pipe leak. Would that be enough tampering to throw off the trap?

Or perhaps it was Cheshire who set the scarf in the first place, and pulling it out was how it was tampered with?

That's my guess, yes. So I would suggest that you look at the five of us and determine which would be the most likely to have the knowledge to do something like that, or the foresight to notice the trap in the first place.

[Just, you know, casually reminding people without reminding them that she has no idea how to use stoves for anything more than boiling water or break stoves to make them explode. Her bird is the one who makes things explode, it's too much work.]

I don't... think Cheshire really knew how to use a stove either, really. One of the reasons why he always left before I woke up was to see if he could get someone else to make food for him. But if he could learn....

( Then anyone could, theoretically? )
