week 5 - day 1 trial

seven vices case 5 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. [ Eventually, the clock strikes 6PM. Metaphorically, because it's way too small to have a clock in here.

Everyone is allowed to wrap up their conversations, but all evidence must be left inside the chapel. After all have exited, Miata locks the doors behind her and starts the walk back to the hotel. ]

[ Even though she's been keeping her cool throughout most of the trial, when it's all over for the day, Inaba curls herself up, burying her head in her legs, sobbing. ]

D-Damn it... I hate this...

[Oh no, oh no, she's crying, this is So Upsetting. Laima noses Inaba's hand gently as Lithuania approaches.]

I wish I could offer to let you stay in my room for the night. [But that is not allowed. Inaba just doesn't seem like she should be alone right now.]

... It's fine. I'll be alright. The boys were the ones who checked my room, so they must have found something useful.

Urashima will come over and have a seat right by her and just... kind of pat her on the back? He doesn't really know what to do when a girl is crying? He doesn't know what to do with girls to begin with but he'll try his best right now. )

It's really hard, isn't it?

( I mean... he's been on trial twice and has been in awkward and tough situations both times so he feels you, Inaba. )

I already knew that it was hard from the beginning.

[ She states this plainly. squaring her shoulders as she wipes her tears from her eyes. ]

But it's clear that someone broke into my room somehow, and that's something that scares me. I need to become a better person. That way, he... Never mind. Regardless, we'll figure this out.

[princessantly]

[ Is she going to crouch by her and offer a handkerchief, of course she is. ]

It's all right. We'll find the truth.

[ WE'VE ALMOST NEVER FAILED. ]

[ Her voice is soft, very much so. ] Because if I die, then...

[ All she can do is glance away, hurt. ] And I can't do that to them.

[ BECAUSE I HAVE TO GET MY SOCIALIZATION IN SOMEHOW

Hanyuu starts to go to the kitchen to make dinner but then remembers, ah yes the stove is explodified....no soup tonight. Instead she takes out some milk from the fridge and reluctantly has a bowl of cereal instead. You can intercept her there or on the way to her room. ]

[INTERCEPTION]

You were one of the people who searched my room, right?

[ are you worried she touched your stuff satori, maybe you should go interrogate ranulf instead ]

Yes. Why?

[ Dhaos is holding a cup of tea. In his case though, somehow he's managed to heat it up. ]

... Good evening.

[ It was only polite to greet another in the room. ]

A late night snack before bed, I presume?

[ You can catch Alisha on her way back, trudging through the snow all by her lonesome. She seems... slightly bummed. If your eyes meet, though, she'll smile a little tiredly. ]

Sometimes, I wish we could solve it all in one day. I doubt very many people sleep well the first night after a trial.

[ He looks over at her. ]

It does not seem like we are given much time, either. If anything, people are likely to turn over theories in their own heads, nevermind their possible worries, which could contribute to the probable lack of sleep.

[Satori has acquired one (1) tea bag and one (1) cup of water.

But she doesn't have a way to heat it up, what with the stove being busted, so she's staring at the water and just sort of? Hoping tea will happen eventually? This is why she has pets to do this shit for her. Okuu could probably boil this water by looking at it funny.]

[ Oh Satori...

Dhaos notices the other is staring at the water, there. Clearly something is up and hence he speaks up. ]

Is something amiss?

[Could this possibly be Clover not completely glued to Lucy's side?!?! Not for long, ideally, though; she's just found somewhere for Lucy to sit while she runs off and grabs them some snacks and drinks.

So Clover's scurrying around the burnt husk of the kitchen and filling her arms with junk food and fruit and nothing anywhere in between on the spectrum of healthiness. She's in a rush, but now's the time to grab her attention if you need her.]

[What is your rush, smol friend? He dodges back out of her attempt to grab some fruit off the counter, but otherwise doesn't interfere.]

( While Clover is running around collecting snacks and drinks, Urashima will hold out some breakfast pastries for her. Look, she looks like she's busy? So he'll help? )

... That's a lot of stuff.

[Poland's in the kitchen after trial, she was hungry and started rummaging in the fridge for something satiating sans stove...

At some point though Poland stopped rummaging and started randomly eating things out of the fridge while standing in front of it and twirling a strand of hair around her finger looking incredibly distracted.]

[That sure is Poland just hanging out in front of the fridge. Hinata had considered getting something to eat out of there, but...]

[ Opens mouth. Closes it. ]

Are you just... going to stand in front of the fridge the whole time?

[ Astrid has plans for the evening involving a quick lesson to Bill on tooth-brushing and then going out with Stormfly for a bit, but if you want to catch her leaving the chapel or coming in later at night, you'll find her sort of scowling and stomping around.

She's apparently still Annoyed. ]
