week 4 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 4 trial, day 2 ♫ sunday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes. >Discuss? victim   suspects      VOTING cast setting VOTING TENTATIVELY CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT CST.

Possible Timeline of Events (To be Updated)

-The killer fetches glitter at some point from the schoolhouse.
-Selena is called out by the killer.
-The killer invites Selena out with a good reason
-Reason being--killer lied to her and acted in distress so she would accompany them.
-They head to the police station.
-They partake in some activity there.
-At some point, the broom may have been used to try to clean up something.
-The killer attacks her likely when she is distracted, and she is able to fling two spells back. However the killer planned for this to occur and so used her tome's flames to have the police station catch fire.
-The killer disarmed her, then killed her shortly afterwards, and locked her in her cell.
-The killer stole Selena's keys and put back the key to the jail cell underneath the office desk. The killer left behind the broom, which was likely used to assist in accelerating the fire.
-The killer discards of the plastic gloves, and then drops the paper crane nearby the police station to "frame" Urashima.
-The killer heads back, making sure to drop the keys nearby the clinic to use as a red herring.
-As the killer heads into the hotel, they make sure to smudge Faize's door to "frame" him as if he had been out.
-The killer returns to their room. ]

There's no point in this list where the killer goes to frame Break with the book in Selena's room...is there even time for them to have done that? Selena's room is on the third floor, after all.

Well, three out of five suspects live on the third floor anyway.

Yeah, but the keys were found near the clinic. They could have only gotten the keys AFTER Selena died, right? So they would have had the fire set and all this other shit going on, and then...climbed three flights of stairs, opened the door, and flipped her booklet to Break, then close the door and gone all the way back downstairs and over to the clinic to drop the keys? Without being caught by any of us?

Isn't it easier to assume that Selena was the one who did the profile book thing?

The clinic's right across from the hotel. I guess they could have thrown the key out the window and have it land there?

[ He distrusts Break too, but...he wishes to look into it more before making his final decision. ]

That said, I believe it is fair to at least add it onto the list. Thank you for the reminder.

The one thing that bothers me is the trip to the schoolhouse...it and the police station are on opposite sides of the town, it is a relatively long distance to cover. Time would be ticking, especially if the police station was already on fire from the fight. Anyone on the west side of the hotel could look out their window and see the smoke...and potentially the culprit running around.

Like Hofferson-san said, the time frames are very odd, especially including their supposed trip to Selena-san's room. The culprit would have to be very fast.

I mean...if we're talking about speed...[Glancing at Vegeta.]

I'm probably fast enough, but you have no real reason to assume the killer went into that woman's room after she died. Not to mention the fire lasted long enough without getting out of control for hours- it was probably still minor when all that was happening.

[Honestly, she just doesn't want to admit that Vegeta's way faster than she is.]

I think the killer must have, otherwise it's either a huge coincidence or Selena was likely planning on killing Break. But if that were the case, then there's no reason why either of them would have a knife or why the killer would already have glitter on them.

[They already proved that in their fight so that's fine.]

Or maybe she had some other reason for doublechecking his profile. Maybe he came knocking on her door and she wanted to remind herself of his skills, just in case.

If she was already that suspicious of him, then why bother going out with him that late at all instead of just telling him to wait until morning? Especially since he has swordmanship and...daredeviling, whatever that means, listed right there.

I'm pretty sure there is glitter almost literally everywhere...

[Poland's escaped the glitter crusade unscathed... for now.]

Maybe they scraped some up from somewhere else.

Well, no, I mean replacing the jar in the schoolhouse. Getting a large amount enough to coat her hands like that would be easier if you had the jar, instead of scraping up bits of glitter.

Well, like, what about the whole void thing? It's a teleportation device or something.

Not instantaneously, though. You do have to walk for a little bit to reach the other side.

It would still be faster, if we're considering the whole time issue.

In regards to the schoolhouse, perhaps they took care of the trip earlier...?

You mean they planted the evidence to frame certain people beforehand?

[ Chiming in quietly, albeit a little awkwardly at this point. ]

Mm, I thought they had, but--

After consideration if they had gone earlier, it would mean they would have had to make a second trip later to grab the red paper crane, and I doubt that would be the case. So I suppose it would have had to have been done in one-go.
