week 4 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 4 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? victim   suspects      cast setting rulebook

[Yoite doesn't usually stick around, but he stops when he sees Dhaos.]

This trial is bothering you. [ He basn't seen him like this in a trial before.]

[ He looks up at Yoite (for once sitting down makes him able to look up at someone somewhat). He looks down at one of the papers, an unfinished note.

But truly he is thinking of Selena, when they spoke, when he played something just for her, and those nights they held in confidence. ]

... I truly wish to have this case solved. However, I know I am not the only one, so that should make it bearable.

That said, if I tried to say the case didn't bother me, I would be a liar, hm?

[He's silent for a while, contemplative, but sits down next to him all the same. It's a bit strange that considering all the time they've shared, that there was still a lot they didn't know about each other. Perhaps that was the beauty in their relationship, though.]

Was she important to you? [It's the best guess he has, considering nothing else about the trial seems to be irregular.]

[dhaosu]

Mm. If it wasn't for her... then...

[ He shakes his head. He remembered when he was struggling with this week's incentive--they had equally helped each other through the weeks--and she helped him then. ]

Not to mention, we oft got along easily, and she was an individual I truly 'befriended' in the beginning. Perhaps, I was naive in thinking that she would be fine and nothing would occur to her this week. She had been so kind...

[okuri]

[It was an understatement to say that Yoite didn't know how to deal with situations like this-- it seemed similar to what he gone through when Takao died, but more extensive. Dhaos had been there for him then, and even if they hadn't grown closer over time, he at least owed him this much.]

All you can do now is move forward [He glances at the paper now, with the outline and clues.] which you're already doing. It can't afford to be like last week when they got away.

Is there anything I can do in particular? [ Perhaps Miharu or even Yukimi would be able to offer kind words in a time like this, but he simply didn't know how. Instead all he can offer are his skills and mind.]

[dhaosu]

[ He nodded at that. He wouldn't let the one responsible get away with this. ]

I will not allow it.

[ To get them away, that is. Then, at the question, he considers it. ]

In this case, I will ask for your assistance in deductive reasoning. This will be truly the key to solve the murder in this trial. If there are any other scenarios you can think of, it would be wise of you to voice them whilst everyone is present.

[okuri]

[ He didn't often speak up during trials because he found them to be quite frankly a circus, but if this was Dhaos' request then he would make an effort.]

Okay. [ A beat.] I think Rhys is trying to discount Break far too heavily. His blindness aside, it's possible to push your body past it's limits to accomplish a goal.

And if he's anything like me, he's used to dealing with the side effects, and could likely cover them up.

[dhaosu]

That is true. It is best to consider every angle concerning the suspects. I can understand why he would seem like an unlikely candidate, however...

[ He thinks it is way too early to throw Xerxes out as a viable suspect, at least, even if he is not sure who it is. ]

... I also do not think it wise to discount him entirely. It could prove to be a mistake. Hopefully we should be able to glean some more tomorrow.
