week 4 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 4 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

A good reason, but one that clearly didn't leave her too alarmed, or I'd imagine she would have rushed... That also makes it more likely that it came from someone she trusted, right? Unless we're going with Undyne's theory that she had been the one to initiate the attack, but I don't think that's the case...

What if...she lost her keys? I figured that the killer took them off of her after she died, but maybe that's not the case. If they somehow got hold of her keys beforehand, she would have had to go looking for them no matter how late it was at night.

It could also explain why they were found by the clinic when it seems pretty out of place with everything else going on in the murder.

But then her tracks would probably have been all over the place, right? And I think she would have been rushing if she was looking for her keys of all things, especially on a Thursday.

She could have checked around indoors first before the killer found her and offered to look with her. Did anyone see her around the school or police station on Thursday?

It does sound super unbelievable, but at this point, any reason to go outside at one in the morning seems pretty freaking dumb to me!

...I can't really argue with that. [WHY, SELENA?!]

I didn't see her there on Thursday, but it makes sense that the killer may have walked with her to the station if the tracks were side by side.

Or maybe the killer pretended they lost their keys! Why were the keys even outside the clinic?! It makes no sense! If it's another stupid red herring, I'm gonna kill the culprit myself.

[WELL... KILLING ISN'T THE ANSWER UNDYNE GOSH but he does look a little irritated at the possibility.]

It might be that... They would have had plenty of time to do anything they wanted with the keys after they were done using them. They could have worked on another frame, but a red herring is good for distracting us during trials, too.

Ugh, this is totally unfair! I get framing people, even if it's super cowardly, but how are we supposed to know what's important and what's not if the killer just drops random stuff everywhere?!

Okay, new tactic! Which one of these suspects seem like they'd enjoy watching everyone get distracted by their dumb fake clues?! [it's totally Break isn't it]
stupidly: (why happen)

[WELL... Not untrue honestly, but still--]

I don't think anyone on the list would. ...Actually, most of them do seem like they would go for something that could ensure their victory a little better, so a bunch of red herrings and really obvious attempts at framing people are pretty strange.
