week 4 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 4 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

That makes sense...and yes, hopefully we should be able to figure out if their whearabouts indeed landed any of the suspects nearby the crime scene. Although I am not seeing an indication for that as of now regarding their alibis.

[ But hopefully they'll be able to tell later on, he hopes. ]

Also, do you believe the smudge on Faize's door may have been some sort of attempt at a frame?
hopefragment: *presents panties* (i'll prove it with this!*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-03-13 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely think that's the case.

[Spoken firmly!]

I know I've said it before, but... Faize and I were together all night. I really think I'd have woken up if he left.

[He can't be sure tho]

The ash was entirely on the outside of the doorframe, so it could have been smudged on by anyone. Not that I'm going to discount Faize entirely, but it's worth noting.
hopefragment: (and he's staring in his coffee cup like*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-03-13 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Not to mention Faize's room is right next to the stairs, as well. It would be pretty easy to slip into the hallway long enough to rub ash on the door before heading upstairs to their own room.
dhaosu: (...)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-13 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. It seems unlikely Faize to be the actual culprit considering this and his alibi.

[ Dhaos, on the other hand, seems sure. He seems to want to have faith in Faize. ]

As much as I believe that paper crane to be, yes. Someone may not have been able to hide their tracks, so sought to shift the blame to someone else.
keepshispride: (Seriously I am due.)

[personal profile] keepshispride 2016-03-13 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
That implies they're worried about someone noticing something else that does point to them.
princessantly: (Wait but how do two boys--)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-03-13 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
That was my thought, as well. But the evidence doesn't seem very personalized, beyond what I'd mentioned...
dhaosu: (> hm?)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-13 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Speaking of evidence...what do you think about the gloves with the glitter? Do you believe Selena may have been wearing them?
princessantly: (Let's do this like dignified folk)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-03-13 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
If she had been, then I doubt her hands would have been covered in glitter as well...
dhaosu: (> listening)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-13 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
True. Although judging from the sparkling glitter on her hands, it appears that she dabbed in it a little. Do you think the killer lead her out to the police station with an activity involving glitter in mind? Perhaps decoration?

[ He's thinking the killer probably put the plastic gloves on themselves in this case, then... ]
princessantly: (The fiercest princess)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-03-13 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
I can't imagine Lady Selena would be drawn out at such an early hour to do crafts...
dhaosu: (> deliberate)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-13 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I do not think so, either...

[ But he feels like he is onto something...he doesn't know where, though. But the glitter on her hands has been bothering him. ]

...Normally. Perhaps the killer pretended that they were suffering from the motive or otherwise and asked her to accompany them earlier. They then persuaded her into some type of activity with glitter.

I'd be more inclined to say they purposely covered her hands in glitter before they left, but if that were so, she would have more on her hands. So it's more likely she participated voluntarily.

[ a nod ]

I agree with this. At least, the killer had to have made a trip to the school house at some point. If the paper crane was not Urashima-san's, they could have grabbed it there, while they were fetching glitter.
detanimetion: (embarrassed smile)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-03-13 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
There aren't exactly...a lot of people on the suspect list I can see her doing arts and crafts with though. [Well. There's one. Maybe two.]

Does anyone know who Selena was close to here?
dhaosu: (> can i turn back time?)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-13 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
... I do not think she was too close to any of the suspects, unfortunately. [ Including Undyne, but that was obvs he thinks. ] I knew her more than any of the others listed up there.

[ He frowns a little. ]

It is a tad bit hard to tell, since feasibly we can say any suspect could have fabricated a tale for her to come out with them. Especially if they put on a show while doing so.
detanimetion: (considering)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-03-13 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Was she the type of person who would buy that kind of story though? Especially that late at night?
dhaosu: (> possible concern)

[personal profile] dhaosu 2016-03-13 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
She wasn't naive. However, it is clear that since she went with the killer regardless, she was not... careful enough I suppose.

[ In other words, he is saying 'yes' he does think so as a possibility. Although he'd rather it not have been the case. ]
