No, I get it. But still, I can't feel sorry for him, either. [With a sigh, she kicks at the snow—tries to, anyway; it looks more like she's about to fall down before she catches herself. She sounds entirely unconvinced as she goes on, too tired to feel properly.] Better that than picking at random, I guess, but...I don't know. Maybe for nothing.

[Mm. MMMM. Hinata just shakes his head, then starts, pulling his hands out of his pockets as if to try to catch her before she catches herself.]

A-anyway... it's over now. We did what we could, so now... we just have to make sure it doesn't happen again. More important right now, though... seriously, are you okay? Is it like my headache last week?

Doesn't happen again, huh... [That's cute, Hinata. She doesn't quite have it in her to harp on it too hard, at least, so she shakes her head at his last question.] Not a headache. I'm fine, really. [She's wobbling even as she says it, but no she's totally cool everything is fine why would she ever let anyone think otherwise.]

[He doubts it'll happen, but he really, really wants to believe they'll get through without any more murders.]

Right... well, since you're totally fine, [he doesn't believe her at all,] Are you... ready to head back? I'll go with you.

[just. just let her think he believes her. let her have this.]

Well, since I'm already up... [She huffs, squints real hard in front of her like she's taking a moment to remember how walking works, and takes a few wobbly steps forward.] You don't have to come with me. [She says this like she isn't stumbling more than actually walking.]

[Ugh, Clover... the things he does to save other people's pride. Just going to do his best not to let his exasperation show.]

I was heading back myself anyway, so we'd just end up doing that thing where you say "bye" to someone and keep walking in the same direction.

[Going to be ready to catch her if it looks like she might fall again, too. Just collapse into his surprisingly manly arms, Clover.]

[He's doing a good enough job for Clover, anyway, and he even gets a tiny amused smile for his efforts.] Wouldn't want that. ["Don't let me hold you up" would be the same as admitting she isn't steady enough to keep up so she doesn't say it because that's absolutely not allowed.

Neither is collapsing into anyone's arms and she is stubbornly determined to keep it from happening, thank you very much!!! Even if there are a few close calls, her skill isn't "excellent balance" for nothing. Except nope, there's only so much that can be done for so long in shoes this ridiculous and okay if you insist—trying to catch herself on a stumble turns into tripping against her heel and isn't quite coordinated enough to recover and she is going down.]

[As long as she lets him walk near her, that's good enough for him. Really, as long as she makes it back without collapsing into the snow again, that's good enough for him, though he does make a few false starts as if he might try to grab her when she stumbles.

It's not until she trips against her own heel that he does finally lunge to support her, stepping in as quick as he can from the side to catch her against his chest and arm, just trying to make sure she doesn't hit the snow.]

Careful, it's icy--

[Yes. It was definitely an errant patch of ice that sent her stumbling. Nothing else. Not letting go until he's sure she's on her feet properly, though.]

[She's totally expecting to hit the ground here, with a kind of reluctant acceptance where she's already deciding that she's just gonna stay there, to the point that she doesn't really know what to do when Hinata catches her? There are a few seconds where she forgets what limbs are for.]

Oh, um. I'm good. [Only after she says that does she start trying to actually get back on her feet, cursing the whole time.] I'm good. [It takes another couple of seconds and attempts and swear words for her to actually get to "good," for...given values of such] Stupid ice, huh? [It was definitely ice absolutely thanks for humoring her, Hinata.]
