week 1 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |

Hmm... Can I have a sheet of paper, Hinata-kun?
no subject
[Flips to a blank sheet and tears it out. Do whatever you want with it, turtle boy!]
Want my pen, too?
no subject
( He doesn't need it right now though. Instead, he'll set to work, folding part of the paper and tearing that strip off so he has a perfect square shape. And then he'll start folding at it. He stops at some places, trying to remember certain folds and stuff but once he's finished he has an origami turtle. )
I'll draw a face.
no subject
Ah... that's really cute. I don't think I can even remember how to make the crane we learned in school.
[You won another little smile from Hinata! Congrats. And listen, the crane is difficult and Hinata is very average. Give him the directions and he'll probably be able to do it again.]
no subject
Ah... Tsurumaru-san taught me how! I can teach you again if you want.
( And once he's drawn his face and the shell design on the turle, he'll slide both the turtle and the pen towards Hinata. )
It's Kamekichi. ( A "Lucky Turtle." ) He'll help you tomorrow, okay?
no subject
[What a cute turtle. But hey, wait a second, now that there's a little turtle in front of him...]
Thanks. I really appreciate it.
[he does! just going to give the origami turtle a little pat on the head before turning his attention back to Urashima.]
So you must really like the story about Urashima Tarou, huh? Were you named after him?
[Apparently he's got a carving of the guy too? Weird!]
no subject
Urashima Kotetsu, wakizashi passed down from generation to generation of the Ikeda clan in Totorri domain and named after the carving of Urashima Tarou on my blade!
( His chest puffs out just a little bit. He's very proud of his history, okay. )
Hmm.. I'm an authentic Kotetsu too, just so you know.
( Which probably means nothing to someone who isn't SHLS Sword Chick. )
no subject
[YEAH none of that means anything to him, but he just nods along. Obviously it's incredibly important to Urashima himself, so the least he can do for the turtle boy is pretend to be interested. And, well, it is really interesting. Normally he wouldn't believe a tsukumogami was a real thing, but with literal aliens and goddesses wandering about, Urashima's actually one of the less strange things around.]
O-oh, really? One of my classmates would probably love to meet you then. Pekoyama Peko, the Super High School Level Swordswoman. [Kendoka, more specifically.] I know kendo is her specialty, but I bet she'd be interested in actually speaking with a real wakizashi.
no subject
Ah... maybe we'll meet then! You're from Japan too, right? So am I! So maybe we can meet some day.
( After the war........... )
Uhm, but actually. There's something I want to ask from you.
no subject
[Please let Hinata go to School 2k??
He pauses and blinks, tilting his head a little at Urashima's question.]
Sure... what is it?
no subject
( Do you see where this is going. )
They're in the church right now... but when everything is over, I want to make sure his friends get them. He's from "Tokyo." ( He didn't recognize the name completely at first but after thinking about it, he's got it. ) That's what Edo is called now, right?
I could take them and ask master to send them... but it's hard reaching others where we are.
no subject
[That's... a lot of responsibility, and a kind of sobering task, but Hinata just nods without much hesitation.]
Yeah. I'll see what I can do. I'm just... even if we're both from Japan, if he hadn't heard of Hope's Peak Academy, there's no guarantee we're from the same Japan, you know? But... I'll do my best.
no subject
( That sure is a vague way of explaining his situation. )
We'll try our best to help Takao-kun! We'll deliver his letters and find the one who hurt him.
no subject
[It's like a multiple choice question! He's good at those.]
But yeah, we'll... we'll all do our best. Delivering the letters, and... in the trial. We have to.
no subject
( A swordmaster who is a literal master of swords, get it... )
Mhmm! Thank you, Hinata-kun!
no subject
[HOW DOES ONE EVEN ADDRESS A TSUKUMOGAMI...]
no subject
( Heh heh. )
There are a lot of Kotetsu.
( But he's the only one here so he's been rolling with it. )
no subject
And... thanks for Kamekichi.
[He's going to keep him in his pocket and bring him everywhere.]
