week 1 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |

I... don't think that'll be the case. He looks pretty muscular to me. Maybe he has... an embarrassing birthmark or something?
[How did he get roped into this.]
no subject
I...guess? Anyway, I'm way more muscular than he is! [THE IMPORTANT PART CLEARLY]
no subject
Well... that's what's most important, then. If I ever need help with uh, anything that needs strength, I'll definitely come to you first.
no subject
[Anyway with the obligatory 'Vegeta sucks I'm way better' topic covered, she'll move on.] So you're having spaghetti, huh? Did Papyrus make that for you? [Obviously not, seeing as how he's still alive and breathing...]
no subject
Ah, the spaghetti? [He'd forgotten about it, even though the fork is in his hand. It's probably cold by now, gross.] Uh, no, I just kind of found it in the kitchen. Papyrus, he's the taller skeleton, right? Why's he like spaghetti so much?
no subject
Yeah, that's him. And the spaghetti's a symbol of the strength of our bond of friendship! [or something like that...] It's the first...and uh, only...dish I ever taught him how to make.
no subject
[he's so surprised. he was pretty sure she's the one who's been setting the kitchen on fire, so??]
no subject
Course I can! Why do you sound so surprised, punk?!
no subject
[Let him shove his foot as far into his mouth as it'll go-!]
It's good that you have more skills than just fighting.
no subject
Well, yeah? I can play the piano too? [giving Hinata a weird look like she's not sure if she should be insulted or not] Fighting's just what I do for my job. I mean I like it and all, but it'd be pretty sad if it's all I ever did with my life. It's not like you spend all your time - [what the fuck is it even that Hinata does]- doing super high school stuff or whatever, right?
no subject
[Made it worse by trying to make it better-! A mistake.]
Well, considering how eager you are to always fight Vegeta I just kind of assumed... never mind. I'll get back to you on the "Super High School stuff" when I can remember my talent.
no subject
What do you mean, remember your talent? How do you forget what you're good at?
no subject
[Oh no, he sounds like a tired sad weenie again.]
You know the question marks on my profile...? That's normally where someone would have their talent listed. People with talent who are accepted to Hope's Peak Academy because of that talent are called Super High School Level. Super High School Level Swordswoman, Super High School Level Team Manager, Super High School Level Gamer... even something as vague as Luck can be considered a talent. I just... can't remember mine.
no subject
So what? Just because you don't remember the title doesn't mean you lost the talent, right? Just pick whatever you're good at and be Super High School Level that! [smacking him on the back cheerfully] I GOT IT! You can be Super High School Level Nerd!! [SEE...SO GOOD...]
no subject
[Ow?? That kind of propels him a little bit forward when she slaps his back!]
That's... that's not how talent works! You're born with talent, you can't just... pick one!
[Ugh he coughs a little... ouch.]
no subject
[She huffs, crossing her arms.] Anyway, that's stupid! People aren't born with talents, you only get good at them if you work really hard! Why do you think I train all the time? It's not like I just appeared out of thin air able to suplex boulders and summon spears! [pause] Although that would be super cool....
no subject
I don't know, I mean... the criteria for being accepted to Hope's Peak is being a current high school student, and being the very best at what you do. So I mean, it's probably not impossible to develop your skill to the point where it's a talent, but I don't... think that really happens often. Talent is just... talent.
[Someone save dangan kids]
no subject
[She says, in flagrant defiance of both her and Papyrus's cooking talents...]
no subject
[He shivers and shoves his hands into his pockets.]
When I try to think about it, it's like... everything just seizes up, and I can't remember anything.
no subject
If you can't remember anyway, why not develop something new? Everyone has to start somewhere. What's something you enjoy and want to get better at? Cooking? Drawing? Being a huge nerd?
no subject
[Ugh he is a nerd though.]
Besides, I don't... think anyone can develop a talent that's worth Hope's Peak attention that quickly. If it's like you said, and people put a lot of effort into it over a long time... I don't want to be stuck in this town long enough for that to happen.
no subject
Huh? Did the town take your memory, or can you not remember back wherever you came from either? I haven't heard of anyone else losing any of their memories by coming here.
no subject
[He's not going to protest the nerd part because arguing with her will probably just reinforce it?? Instead, he's silent for a few seconds, clearly struggling with how to answer that.]
...Yeah. I couldn't remember back home, either. Some things happened, and... I lost a lot of my memory.
no subject
Then it seems to me like you've got two options? You can either do nothing like a total weenie and hope that the memory of your talent comes back, which might never happen. Or you can work hard at whatever it is you think you might be good at. If it happens to be your talent is, then great, you just got better at it! And if not, at least you've picked up something new, so no loss there.
no subject
[Ugh he can't help but snap that a little. It's frustrating!!]
