week 1 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 1 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

Roughly, yes. When a human body dies, it goes through several stages that happen at certain periods of time after death, such as growing stiff and having the blood pool at the lowest points of the body. It's not perfect, and I'm not an expert, but I can manage basic things like that.

Huh, that's pretty useful! [Probably...right...]

But what about the weird slow time we were dealing with this week? Any chance that could have affected the decomposition thing?
hopefragment: definitely not thinking about boobs (thinking carefully*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-02-21 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. Remember how we'd still end up getting hungry around the normal times, if you paid attention to the clock? Our bodies didn't age along with how we perceived time.

...Unless you think I look fifty years old.

[squinting at him]

You mean you don't? [monsters...don't age okay....]
hopefragment: saying i fell just isn't working (i'm gonna tell them i wrestled a bear*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-02-21 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
....No!

[PLEASE!]
detanimetion: (angry smile)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-02-21 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so are you younger or older than fifty, I can't tell!!
hopefragment: (startled)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-02-21 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Younger! I'm... seventeen, I think!

[Why aren't you sure Hinata]
detanimetion: (FUHUHUHU)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-02-21 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
SEE! If even you can't tell how old you are, how should I know?! [what are they even arguing about at this point]
hopefragment: biting people isn't a reward!! (i told you a thousand times already!!*)

[personal profile] hopefragment 2016-02-21 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
There's a big difference between seventeen and fifty!

[Someone stop them]

Not to monsters, there isn't! You could be a hundred, for all I know! [and to be fair, there are quite a few youngish looking people with ages listed as super old here...]
symbologic: to consider the larger psychological underpinnings of my lust. (gaze ☄ Life's too short)

[personal profile] symbologic 2016-02-21 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
No. That was all purely psychological. Time was still moving normally, so the body would decompose normally as well.
detanimetion: (considering)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-02-21 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
You mean human bodies aren't affected by their mental state and emotions? [this all sounds super weird to her...]
herbgrace: (pic#9989018)

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-21 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
It shouldn't. Objectively, time was still moving at the same rate. Even if it felt like it was taking a lot longer, things shouldn't be actually happening more slowly. [At least, that's how it was working when she was cooking, so she really hopes it didn't effect the rate of decomposition.]

[Her eyes suddenly widen.]

But...every minute still felt like an eternity! So when he was dying....

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-21 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Lithuania pauses.] ...Yes, if he was awake for it, it would be--unpleasant.. If the killer had any sort of compassion, they would have rendered him unconscious first.

[Of course, they should have just not killed him at all, but hey.]
detanimetion: (disgusted)

[personal profile] detanimetion 2016-02-21 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Undyne will go ahead and say it anyway.] If they had any compassion, they wouldn't have killed him in the first place!! This killer's the worst!

[personal profile] herbgrace 2016-02-21 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, but still, I'd prefer to believe he wasn't conscious, now that it's already happened. [She's not sure she can manage actually believing it, but she can try.]
