seven vices week 11 ♫ monday - friday 8 players remaining Upon waking on Monday morning, you experience a short but awful bout of nausea. It's not dissimilar to the same fate one suffers when trying to remove their talisman, but an inspection will reveal that they're still on your person, safe and sound. Accompanying this will be disturbing visions--one look, and suddenly the space around you is nothing but destruction and carnage. Destroyed buildings, the heavy scent of smoke, and scattered bloodstains--even a few screams. But with a blink, the vision fades, and everything is as it should be. The possessions of last week's deceased have vanished, save for Stormfly and the Annoying Dog (the zoo grows stronger!). Anyone investigating will notice that to the far east of the schoolhouse, a library has appeared. Additionally, every locked door in the town will have unlocked at the start of this week. >Investigate? cast setting

[ In place of Monday's usual motive, there's a big fat load of nothing in the lobby. It doesn't matter if everyone is in the lobby or not, as they'll hear the static and accompanying voice either way--because at 9AM, Katerina's voice sounds out.

Instead of her usual bored stoicism, she sounds furious. ]

Congratulations on making it to the final stretch, I suppose. This will be your final week before this ceremony completes.

Normally, I would be inclined to celebrate, but a certain someone decided that just wouldn't do. There's eight of you left, as you can well see, and seven are needed to conclude this! Fancy that! Other arrangements were made for the eighth's demise, but as Mister Xerxes' body gave out on its own, someone must take his place.

Decide who will be the last to die. Your deadline is Saturday, and a vote must be made by then. The chapel is open for your voting pleasure.

[ The monitor clicks off at that, leaving the town in silence once more. ]

[ To the far east of the schoolhouse is the library. It's in exceedingly poor shape, with a partially collapsed roof and covered in a thick layer of dust. The electricity in this building also doesn't seem to work, so anyone venturing in will need to take flashlights with them.

As for the books themselves, many of them are burnt beyond recognition--though many are still perfectly readable.

[It's odd that it's unlocked, so Yoite will be taking a look inside.]

[ Everything is week is super ominous and creepy, but Roxy wants to check out this storage facility for stories printed on dead trees!

Where does one find a flashlight? Who cares, Roxy has one now. She will specifically be going for the fiction section. Does this weird abandoned Europe town appreciate books about wizards? We must find out. She's sure some other nerds will hit the other sections anyway. ]

[ She's been waiting for this for a pretty long time, truthfully. And by "a pretty long time" she means several weeks. She's first going to be checking the current events section, what can we find here? ]

[ Dhaos decides to look around here, first. What does he find? ]

[DID SOMEBODY SAY LIBRARY. FINALLY. A BUILDING WORTH CHECKING OUT.]

[Faize has been carrying a flashlight around with him for weeks now because #alwaysprepared, so the lights are little issue. He'll make a beeline for the nonfiction section because...that's the only seciont not taken and also it seems like the most logical place to start. What we got?]

[ It's a pretty tiny room! It's got a nice, comfy chair next to the screen, and a wicker basket that, upon inspection, has the ballots from Bill's trial in it. So basically a million slips of paper with "Bill" written on it.

There's also another door to the side of the chair. By physical logic, it leads right into the wall, hmm. ]

[ In the first drawer, there's a bunch of profiles in folders. Looking closely, they appear to be arrest records.

In the second drawer is...more folders, but crime reports and newspaper clippings instead.

Which are we going for? ]

[ The lights work! There's one right by the door, in fact, so Buddy can step right on in.

What she'll notice first are two things: one, that the basement is absolutely huge, taking up the entirety of the hotel floorplan and then some; and two: that it is beyond freezing down there, to the point of being able to see her breath cloud up. ]

[ Well. He decides to look closely at the profiles first? Is there anything note-worthy about these arrest records? ]

[Oh well that dampers her mood, she was totally ready for dark spooky exploration.

The cold immediately hits her though, enough so that she runs back upstairs to grab her outdoor jacket and blanket. She wraps the blanket around herself after squeezing into the jacket, and heads back down into the basement only minutes later.

So now fully prepared, she walks down and begins to take a look around. Anything noticeable on just basic glance?]

[ He stares at the slips of paper for a bit before moving on-- that trial still left him with an odd feeling.

But the door he will check out, running his hand along it and pushing to see if it gives any. He doesn't get to kick down a door again, does he?]

Manager's Office

[Hell. Yes. Hell yes, he's wanted to get into this office since they knew there was an office down here.

Going to nab one of those handy flashlights that Roxy apparently also found and go investigate. He trusts library crew to investigate the new area, let him get this mystery. How's the door itself look? Any weird resistence to trying to open it?]

[ There sure are. Three at the very top of the pile will stand out--although their mugshots are in black and white, their faces are still familiar.

These are the three people who unwillingly participated in corpse scavenger hunt.

Andres Aarma, Joseph Hopper, and Gerlinde Kreek were all arrested within the span of two weeks in January of 1994, during a raid by the Lettland military.

They're charged with a few different crimes: resisting arrest, illegal use of government property, assault and battery, assorted war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

Their final sentences are unsure, with "awaiting proper trial" merely scribbled in its place. ]

[ This room is very very small, and very very cramped.

Directly on the floor in front of the door is a sigil made with red paint. Two twin beds lay on either end of the room, underneath two metal poles that have been drilled into the walls. Clothing hangs on the racks, one wardrobe very dark and formal, the other with lighter colors and much more casual. The manager's desk has been moved to a corner, a computer having been set up on top of it, along with a landline phone. Stacks of notebooks lay near one of the beds.

In another corner is a bathroom. It is an exact replica of the ones in the guest rooms, looking as though it was directly copy-and-pasted into the room...a little eerily so, in how it clashes with the rest of the room.

All other free space in the room is taken up by filing cabinets--stacked on top of each other, crammed in inch by inch. Each drawer is nearly packed full to bursting.

What are we investigating first? ]

[ Well, that is certainly a long list of things they have done for sure. He recalls Katerina being upset in particular over them. He notes this, and then he decides to look into the other drawer more closely.

Particularly what the other crime reports and those newspaper clippings may have of interest. ]

[ It gives easily enough.

The second door leads downwards, a long, winding set of stars that ultimately leads to...another door, sorry Yoite. ]

Ridiculous. We shall see how long this plays in your favor when the time does arrive.

[ Dhaos slapped something up on the bulletin in immaculate, large writing.

"I thought it would be prudent to share what we discover, and review some of what we have learned as well. It is suggested we investigate well this week, and it would be best discussed amongst us all what we learned before this 'trial' begins. After all, I doubt anyone wishes to entertain this foolishness any longer. If anyone has any suggestions, or otherwise, do not be afraid to make them known.

[ Well, he's never been one to be scared of typical things, so down the stairs he goes. After confirming that there's no other option but to open the door he does so, albeit slowly, as he's on guard.]

[Apparently we're all just going to write on the note instead of talk to one another. Because some time after Roxy's rsvp, Faize's neat script makes an appearance on the bottom of the bulletin as well:]

I have no objections to either the meeting itself or the date and time. Shall we to meet in the lobby, or would the kitchen be more preferable? -Faize

[ It is a fun way to communicate, but no, really...Dhaos spots it sometime on his way back and writes back. ]
