week 9 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ friday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |

The nightstand yields a number of things. On the very top is a yellow paper flower, with a folded piece of paper under it addressed to Lithuania. Under that are a large number of loose sheets of paper, and his notebook is on there as well. In the drawer is another sheet of paper, folded in half. Have fun with the reading material.
If he's looking at the floor too, he'll find four red sheets of paper taped together, creased in various ways that look like the start of some origami piece.
The safe contains the clothes Bill originally arrived in. Those are clean as well, if he feels like checking.]

[ Dhaos tries to put it off in a tone as if he didn't care, but. Whatever. And then reads the rest. Seeing... the loose pieces of pieces makes him read every single little bit. Whoops. He's gone back to being super curious all over again and it's thanks to murder... yay.
He reads the third one and he just makes a face. ]
Hn. What do you think of Bill?
[ He'll look at the four red sheets of paper and frowns a little, curious... unfinished origami? Bill...at least finish what you start!!
Then, after this, Dhaos will snoop in Bill's bathroom, checking out the vents, etc. ]

He moves to check out the TV and windows.]
But he's also very opinionated and judgemental at times.

Who boobytraps their bathroom?
The TV is just a TV. Nothing special about it really. The window, if Yoite is still trying to be careful, has a tripwire going across it just barely above the window sill, so if someone were to put their hand on it they'd trigger it. It's connected to another bunch of cans on the ceiling that look like they're ready to fall down on anyone unfortunate enough to touch that string. There's a can or two on the ground that was probably from yet another time Bill set it off on his own... Careful Yoite!
The window is open and the reason why will probably become immediately obvious as Jerry flies in and nearly smacks right into the poor ninja's face. Sorry about that! He stopped, but hopefully you'll let him in his room?]

And he needs to work on making sure to clean up his messes. [ Even if it's an improvement, he can't help but be tough on 'messy room' scenarios. ] Although, I suppose with trial he may have been in a hurry this morning if he set off his own bathroom trap. Still.
[ Dhaos is definitely talking to Bill about the state of his bathroom. He begins to move the cans carefully into a neat pile because he is a neat freak in every sense of the word.
He just shakes his head. Why would you boobytrap your own bathroom...
Dhaos does come out of the bathroom, peeking his head out first. ]

Yoite is indeed still being careful, so he does manage to dodge the tripwire. He definitely wasn't expecting Jerry though and jumps back a fair bit, which gives Jerry the opportunity to enter the room.]
Hello Jerry.

Jerry, meanwhile, flies in. He doesn't make a peep, but his pupil dilates pretty quickly seeing Yoite, pleased with this new development. Hi Yoite! Hi!! What are you doing in Bill's room? Oh Dhaos is here too hi Dhaos!
Jerry is useless to you both. You may just want to ignore him while you finish working, though he's definitely going to keep you company now that you're here.]
no subject
[ He just needs to know so he can just like somehow give Bill trouble... or something.
He pauses and waves to Jerry. ]
Was it his idea?
[ If anything, Dhaos does a walk over the whole room one last time, including checking out the ironing board as well. Taking off the cover of that to see if there is anything underneath also counts. ]
no subject
Probably. We just bounced back from each other a lot. [ Looking at Jerry now because avoiding eye contact.]
I haven't fought in a while, so it wasn't a small amount. [ Not that he knows that he's almost suffering from boredom, but he was used to going on missions frequently.]

Well Dhaos, there's the dresser you could check out still, though all that has is his rulebook/profile book on the top of it. The drawers are just filled sparingly with clothes that wouldn't fit in his closet. The rulebook is packed with notes and loose sheets of paper though, so maybe that'd be interesting? The ironing board yields no results except for the fact that it's never been used, from the looks of things.
And Yoite, are you really trying to avoid eye contact by looking at the giant eyeball? Not that Jerry's going to complain. He will happily keep you occupied! Especially since the clock isn't interesting at all.]
no subject
[ He sighs.
Bill... honey, you got a big storm comin'. ]
Not... a small amount...
[ Dhaos checked out the dresser and he looks inside the rulebook to examine the notes if they aren't the same ones from earlier? ]
Hn. I am going to speak with him about this. He has no idea what he could have wrought.
no subject
With nothing else for him to check out, he's just going to make various hand motions at Jerry, like waving and such. Yoite actually doesn't mind animals, and Jerry is a pretty good distraction.]
I'm not that ill. [ ...which is mostly a lie as Dhaos knows, but he's pretty resilient for a dying person.]
no subject
Jerry is pretty amused by those hand gestures and will watch each one carefully. Even if all he does is watch and maybe bob a little in the air in enjoyment, he's happy to be interacted with. He's happy to just be alive and here. He's a simple bean. And he'll just bug Yoite until they leave!]
no subject
[ 'I'm not that ill'. Okay but that sounds fake, Yoite. ]
Regardless, it is still something that shouldn't be done. It could have caused a troublesome incident that could not have been reversed.
...Also since it was his idea, and he roped you into it, naturally he will get a talking to. Just... try not to listen to anything else he may come up with even if it's "interesting". He is quite eccentric, as you say.
