week 9 - trial; day 1
![]() ♫ friday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? setting rulebook |
Urashima's Room
Mm... Poland, how are you faring?
[ He asks partly to take his mind off of his own thoughts and for the sake of a friend. ]
no subject
Oh I'm fine. [Poland steps in, not really sure what she wants to rifle through. It's not as fun if she can't tease Urashima about it.]
no subject
The other bed is made and looks normal.
If they're very quiet, they'll be able to hear rustling noises from Urashima's dresser. )
no subject
Then, that is good.
[ Dhaos carefully comes over to the dresser because there's probably some awkward silence, and sorta beckons Poland over. Nevermind that he's sure she'd come anyway. Shush... coping is a bit hard.
He opens the dresser. What manner of beast is contained within? ]
no subject
He never... did make it to 1000.]
...?
[Poland follows, peering into the drawer as Dhaos opens it.]
no subject
The fourth drawer, the one at the very bottom, has Urashima's original set of clothes and armor. There's also a plain, small box. Moving it will reveal there's some weight to it.
Also, surprise, they'll find Kamekichi! She's hidden in the very back of the drawer, tucked away in her shell. Curiously, there's so no sign of any sort of rustling... but once they try to close the drawer, it'll become stuck on something beneath the drawer (like the space between the drawer and the actual dresser so you can slide it in/out). )
no subject
He looks at Poland, and then he decides to open the small plain box after hesitating a bit, because let's start with that. Good thing the two of them can work as a team... right? ]
...
[ He's also a really exciting conversationalist right now. ]
no subject
[Poland will pull Kamekichi out from the back of her drawer, gently rubbing her head with a finger.]
What's that?
[Also what is the drawer getting stuck on-- Poland lays down and jams her free hand under the dresser to fiddle around under it.]
no subject
Miss Miata,
Thank you for doing your best.
( Poland will find some folded sheets of paper! A couple are now scrunched up because of the drawer catching in the back. They are letters. There are three for home and then ones for Faize, Poland, Lithuania, Break, Inaba, Dhaos, Hinata, and Bill. )
no subject
What did you find?
[ He looks at Kamekichi, and reaches over to hesitantly try to do the same, but then he stops. He'll just move off towards the closet probably to check it out and be thorough? ]
no subject
Lots of letters.
There's one for you.
no subject
Also Kamekichi just stays in her shell. Nope, not coming out. )
no subject
Hold that thought for a moment, I need to make sure every place has been looked over before reading it.
[ He really wants to pet Kamekichi sometime though... ugh, what a foolish thought. ]
no subject
Surely, there must be someone here she will come out for.]
no subject
no subject
He turns to Poland. Before he asks for the letter... ]
...
... Can I...?
[ He gestures to the turtle. You know, pet the turtle. Just... once. Ugh, please don't judge him. ]
no subject
She doesn't wanna come out for me so maybe she'll like you better.
no subject

[ He briefly reaches out to gently mimic what Poland was doing earlier re: Kamekichi in the subject of petting. Then he stops and holds out his hand. ]
May I... see that letter?
no subject
no subject
He grips it tightly. ]
Thank you.
[ His voice is small and almost breaks. It's unclear who he's saying it to -- Poland or Urashima. Perhaps both though, let's be real, and he heads quickly out of the door in what could be considered a quick movement. Because -- well there's nothing left. Right. ]
no subject
Also maybe check his safe. )
no subject
She'll look through Urashima's night stand a little, reading the notebook and looking at the paper turtles.
Then go to pull open his safe. Just incase.]

Tucked away in his safe is Cheshire's bell. Underneath it is a single sheet of paper, folded once in half. The bottom half is blank but the top half reads,
- Urashima Kotetsu
They'll also find his letters from Gilbert and Clover. Takao's letters are also set aside. Also Gilbert's pictures. And a picture Urashima drew of his brothers. And that picture of Hachisuka he got once upon an incentive.
At the bottom of the safe is glitter he's never cleaned up from when he was quarantining his clothes. )
