Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by Katerina's calm, albeit disinterested, voice.

"Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour."

That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present.

After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now boathouse and lake up North

Anyone looking for them will also find that Alisha's spear and Sadie's earmuffs are now gone.

This is Week 8's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday.

Wait!

( That obnoxious voice only belongs to one pure turtle sword who is running through the snow to try and stop Break? He doesn't make it in time since he's fast but not any faster than a normal kid would be. The coat is already in the fire and burning by the time he gets there but he was certain he saw blood? A lot of it? )

What was...? What're you doing?!

( #BREAKEXPLAIN )

[ Break definitely grimaces once he hears Urashima's voice, but luckily the pure turtle sword doesn't have to see Break being a grumpy grandpa... By the time he turns to look Urashima's way, that look is completely gone, and it's instead replaced by a look of completely fake, exaggerated guilt. ]

Oh, dear. You've caught me. I've been driven mad by grief, so I decided to finally sin.

[ He says this pretty flatly, so it's fairly easy to tell that it's a bad joke, but. Will Urashima actually do so... ]

( It's too bad Break is blind so he can't see the look of complete and absolute confusion on Urashima's face. )

( But maybe the half second delayed reaction will be good enough, )

What're you talking about?! ( Stomping one foot down on the ground. He was worried? HE WAS CONCERNED. ) That wasn't funny!

[ And yet Break laughs rather cheerfully all the same, and he shifts to cross his arms. At least this makes this a more fun foot to start off on, in his opinion! ]

Oh, I don't know... It seemed pretty funny to me. Burning the coat in the bonfire early in the night would definitely be brazen!

It's not! It looks suspicious!

( Break, stop laughing at his expense right now. Ugh, but he'll calm down once it's clear that Break? Probably wasn't trying to burn evidence or relating to sinning this week??? )

... What is it?

Well, I won't deny that! But anything else would have been more suspicious, I think. Or even worse, having it lying around could cause problems if I were a suspect again!

[ Somehow, he felt that shoving a bloody coat into the back of his closet was somehow a bad idea. His tone is whimsical as he explains that, because that's the easy part. Though as he gets to his explanation, his cheer does die down somewhat, and he shrugs. ]

It's my coat, but it was beyond cleaning at this point.

. . . ( He doesn't actually know what that coat is from, considering how he'd basically had a breakdown right after the announcement that day and does't remember much at all. There's really no way he can figure out what the coat is without a few more clues. That said! It doesn't seem like Break's actually killed someone yet and he can play along too, tbh. ) I'll remember this just in case.

( But hmm, that blood? He really hasn't made the connection that Break was the one who found the head, oops. That's still a lot of blood to come from someone still alive though, maybe? Is it from Break??? He's not that sick is he?? )

... How are you?

[ He waves a hand towards Urashima playfully, but by his smile, there's a sense that it's what Break would prefer anyways. He doesn't want to be given any kind of special treatment, so of course remembering a sketchy bloody coat is fine! Though it's all that sentiment that gets him to recoil slightly from the question, since special treatment also tended to include things like "normal empathy" so far as Break was concerned. ]

I'll be fine.

[ He's assuming that Urashima means emotionally, after all, since the connection is more obvious to him. Even though he knows that not everyone would know what this coat is used for, it's also easy to forget that. ]

Gilbert is fairly annoying for a dead person, so that's rather helpful. [ stop ghostbert ]

( Annoying as a dead person? Urashima looks up at that, tilting his head curiously to one side, wondering what Break means by that exactly until he remembers. That's right. His ghost visited Break earlier in the week too, didn't he? )

... He visited you again?

[ Break grimaces, and he even makes an "ugh" sound like he's truly disgusted... It's hard to tell that Break and Gilbert are actually friends sometimes. Or maybe this is a sign of friendship?? It's up for debate. ]

It'd be more accurate to say that he hasn't stopped.

Oh.

( Just a quiet "oh." Reasoably, it makes sense that Gilbert would visit Break. They're friends from before arriving in this place and they'd been through a lot, hadn't they? He'd never really gotten a friendship origin story but it was just the feeling he got from them. They had their own ways of caring for each other? He thinks about Ookurikara and Mitsutada, in a way... only relationship status is clearly 50 x more complicated in PH-land.

But he's a spoiled sword spirit and as entitled as it feels now, he'd kind of been hoping to hear or see something from GIlbert too. Look, this is a kid that greets the saniwa with a good wish and a hand held out for his new year money. He expects these things naturally.

Well! He isn't going to stay hung up on this. He's spoiled but he isn't a brat. Or well, as bratty as Break's grudgeboner makes him out to be or whatever!! So he bounces back easily enough, hands folded behind his back and speaking as smugly as the smile on his face, )

You must be really worrying him, right?

[ The "oh" isn't somethign that Break misses, but he does miss the context of it completely. He doesn't know Urashima well enough to guess at just where it might be coming from, and he doesn't possess the sort of nearly clairvoyant sense for others that Oz does. He instead just takes it as simple surprise that Gilbert would be that insistent, since it sounds unreasonable on the surface, he's sure. Break sighs heavily, but after considering it, he does nod. ]

He worries about everything normally, mind you... So I'm not trying, but yes.

[ He sighs, but after a pause, he decides to add something else. Urashima is aware, so he doesn't see any harm in it. ]

He's worried about my health.

Hmm.... he can't help it; he cares a lot for others, remember?

( You said so yourself, Mr. Xerxes Break. But ah, Old Turtle's health... )

... Maybe you should rest some instead of throwing dirty laundry into fires in the evening. ( Just a suggestion. ) That's what he wanted you to do that one week, right? Stay in bed and rest?

[ Break shrugs, but it comes with a small laugh. ]

He did, but I'll have a hard time doing that now.

[ He pauses, since this is something personal, and it's hard for him to share it, but... It's just a small portion, he decides. ]

One of his letters told me to survive. All things considered, I can't do that just sitting in bed and waiting for opportunity to strike.
