week 8
![]() 21 players remaining ♫ monday - thursday Monday morning begins just like the rest, slow and uneasy. At 12pm, every television will go off with its usual bout of static, followed by Katerina's calm, albeit disinterested, voice. "Please gather in the hotel lobby within the next hour." That's all that it says before the televisions turn off. Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing around them as if through a speaker system, although there are (still) no speakers present. After hearing the motive, characters who choose to explore will find that the void around the town has retracted a bit, and there is now boathouse and lake up North Anyone looking for them will also find that Alisha's spear and Sadie's earmuffs are now gone. >Mingle? This is Week 8's mingle log, covering Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Investigations will go up on Friday. When posting toplevels, specify the time and location. If you plan on having any private conversations between characters, remember to let us know in the post linked below. More plot elements will be introduced this week. Mod comments will be occasionally distributed to open toplevels, accordingly. setting rulebook profiles private conversations |

Good morning. Unfortunately, I have not seen a boat as of yet.
[ And by extension, not this man's boat. ]
Perchance I do spot it, if you can describe its appearance to me now, I may be able to assist you in locating it? And while we're at it, may we do introductions? I believe we have not met before.
You may call me Dhaos.

Well, darn. I wondered what happened to the harbor, but it looks like I'm not goin' crazy after all.
[ He mimes out a fairly big boat shape ]
Hard to miss it! The Amarissa, big shipping liner, bright orange.
[ A nod, and he sticks his hand out for a handshake. Don't be rude, Dhaos. ]
Captain Salvatore Brigante, at your service.

[ The man's name, and the details of the ship, that is. Something as big and bright as that would be incredibly hard to miss, actually. ]
That said...Well met.
[ Surprisingly, handshakes were still something Dhaos was familiar with--it was a lesson his court advisors never let him forget. Even if it was centuries since he's ever done one. He easily reaches out to grip the man's hand properly for the gesture. And only when they're done he'll speak: ]
Although, I also do have a question if you do not mind. When did you notice that something was amiss, regarding the harbor?
no subject
[ The Captain gives Dhaos a bright smile. THANK U STRANGER.
But his smile fades when he hears that question. He scrunches up his face in a very confused manner, like he doesn't even understand what was asked of him. ]
...that's a good question. Last night? Shoulda been last night, when I replaced one of the sails, but it feels a lot longer than that.

...I see. By the way, I am rather new to this town, but, I was curious to know if there was ever some kind of conflict that I should be made aware of? Or if there was any type of odd stories you may have heard or know about in particular?
no subject
[ He laughs knowingly, though his tone is a little bitter. A nod. ]
Big trouble out West. Those Loreleans really can't keep to 'emselves.
no subject
[ He crosses his arms. ]
That said... the Loreleans-- they're trying to invade? I suppose for the usual want for more land or is there something special in particular they desire from here?
no subject
[ whatever that means, the Captain isn't really clarifying...whoops ]
no subject
[ If anything, Dhaos is not sure if the Captain will clarify on that, but it's one of the conclusions he's arrived that may be a thing. ]
And in addition to that, if you do not mind answering this: Might you know where I may meet Mayor Bačiulis? Or arrange a meeting with him of some sort?
no subject
It's a dictatorship at this point. So, while I'm sure that's what the citizens would want, that's not the official goal, here. [ He leans in, shaking his finger for emphasis ] No one comes in, no one comes out.
The Mayor? Oh, sure, his house functions as city hall, these days. Would you like his address?
no subject
[ He then nods at the question, beginning to search if he had a piece of paper on himself just in case (and he did because one might never know where it could prove to be useful). ]
Yes, I would, actually. That would be very helpful.
no subject
Hope that helps, sir. Good luck.
no subject
... Thank you. I do not think I can properly express in mere words the extent of how much assistance you are, but I feel it must be said.
[ He offers a brief smile. ]
That said, fare thee well, and once again, if I locate that ship, I shall let you know.
