week 7 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 7 trial, day 2

sunday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes.

I'm certainly not ruling it out--it's just hard to prove that someone knew about something.

Easy to fake though. Astrid said she thought of it like captured lightning - when lightning hits water, the result is obvious. That's all she would have to know.

The only motive I could possibly have is retirement, and unlike you I don't think that's worth shit.

...I hope those won't be your last words.

[She isn't really sure between Astrid or Sadie, but yeah...]

Does it matter? If the people voting choose to let another murderer win for a prize that means absolutely nothing, at least you'll have company. Like I've said before: I don't think surviving to the end of this means anything better than dying during it does.

[She shrugs.]

Personally I would rather just get Rhys killed over you or Sadie or Charlotte or whoever. Being a killer isn't a big sin to me.
brawlhalla: (RUDE ► tbh. go away!)

...Killing in defense? Not a bad thing. Allowing someone to die in your stead for something you did? That's why I can't stand what you did.

[She sighs. Before it got her angry when people brought it up, but now she's just weary over it.]

Plenty of people died for me when I told them not to. Morrigan was just another one of them. I don't feel good about it either, but we all made our choices then. Just like whoever killed Alisha and Gilbert made theirs.

People kill for a lot of reasons.
brawlhalla: (WARY ► who goes there?)

Maybe they do. The only reason I have ever killed was to defend Berk; the people I love. So believe me when I tell you that this? I didn't do this. This isn't a death that defends.

And maybe Morrigan chose to die for you, but you know what? You didn't stop her. You could have. But you did not. That choice killed her.

...I have my reasons to live too. That's why I decided I couldn't die here. Morrigan understood that and that's why she helped me.

[It's not something she's ashamed of. She's upset Morrigan is dead, but she's not upset that she's alive.]

Anyway it doesn't really matter - I can't vote either way, so my word doesn't have any value anymore to this game.
brawlhalla: (SNARK ► yeah if you're mental.)

I guess. I'd just like to believe some of you aren't complete idiots.

Mm... Though she never seemed the sort to run around putting heads in odd places. Of course, it's not as if I can say she isn't, it just seems odd to do that instead of leaving the body intact or leaving the head wherever it got cut off if you were low on time, and Astrid has struck me as practical. Similarly, Charlotte strikes me as someone who wouldn't go to that extra effort.
